My lovely wife Sherry & myselfstayed here for 2 weeks, while visiting family and sight seeing. the hotel is walking distance to stores & restaurants. very close to center of downtown Cebu.
We had a secondary wedding vows and beautifully set up dinner with the help of the Hotel. The staff where excellent in every way helping with our needs... When I travel I want the best, I am very pelite when I ask for things,,, and I ask for a lot !!

The property was like a country hotel in the middle of the city. On two occasions when we had to call for help, hotel staff arrived very quickly and resolved the issue. Checkin and checkout was friendly and efficient.
The Montebello Hotel is one of the oldest Hotels in Cebu me and my wife were newly married and on our Honeymoon.. The Hotel is being preserved well But shows many repairs to the rooms over the years. Dinning by the Olympic size pool creates a wonderful atmosphere and compliments the surrounding gardens. the staff is very helpful when asked. you will enjoy the ambiance when you stay. improvements to the property needed is maintaining and cleaning the mold in the bathroom which was apparent in the shower and commode area. Upon arrival we booked a room 6 months prior with a queen size bed and was informed that they cannot provide the queen size bed The property claimed that they do not guarantee the queen size bed booked. We informed the property that payment for a queen size room was prepaid and needs to be provided. The next day we were moved to the room with a queen size bed. The start of the honeymoon was a little disappointing for us.
Almost every year for the last 30 years if ever I am in Cebu, I always stay in this hotel. I like the garden style where I can do my walking everyday,
Montebello feels like a home away from home.. this is our 5th time coming here.. love the staff, they are the best.. Erickson, JoJo, Rohani, Rea and front Desk people need a special mention for their kindness..

Bedding was good, and there was a mall nearby, a well-groomed garden, and a swimming pool. The breakfast was delicious for the price and the staff was very kind.
We were given a room in the old wing and was adviced there is a constructions going on at a certain time frame....the night rolled on kinda smoothly, however, the said noise from the construction started an hour ahead! We complained about three times and still the noise was horrible...we were eventually transferred to the new wing suite despite the few hours left before we check out. We were also given an extra hour to stay. Well, so far so good...but i would definitely prefer the new wing than the old, kinda musty one.
The rooms here range from just-okay to great, and priced accordingly, so you can choose what you like ..or need. The staff here are great, doesn't matter what position they're in, they're all very friendly and helpful.
I've been staying here over the past 15 years when visiting Cebu and Montebello Villa is no longer a secret, so check them out and book early ..it does get sold out.
I stayed at this hotel for two nights in mid-September 2019.
This is an older property (opened in 1972!) but it is very charming and has beautiful grounds. The staff is exceptionally friendly and helpful.
My room was fairly comfortable, although the mattress was a hard foam -- definitely not a Western 5-star hotel mattress. I like harder beds so it was fine. If you don't, you might be unhappy.
Breakfast was included and is a nice buffet with a good combination of Eastern and Western choices.
I would say my biggest complaint was the mattress and lack of outlets in my room to charge my devices. There was only one outlet that was readily accessible, and then another behind the bed that you could access if you worked at it (move the bed, plug in device, move bed back).
The bathroom was also quite small. If you're bigger than about 6 feet or 200 lbs you will feel cramped.
Another oddity was the deposit on check-in; it was 3000 PHP and you can pay it with a credit card but the front desk told me it takes up to 2 weeks to refund it and suggested that I use cash instead. It was only $60 USD but I didn't like the idea of the charge lingering on my card for 2 weeks so I chose the cash option. They gave me a hand-written receipt, and when I checked out gave me back the cash. A little bit odd, but fine.
Overall, despite this nit picking, I was happy with the experience. I would come back to Montebello.

The staff was amazingly friendly and helpful and the grounds were beautiful. We will definitely be staying garter again.
The gate by the guardhouse should not have a black paint. Late nights the gate is halfway close and you can’t see the gate when your driving. I am not surprise when accidents will happen anytime. I already told the front desk 2X. I hope someone from the management will read this post.
