Moldy cielling in the bathroom, very limited brrakfast options & no spare key card.
Property was as in the photos however it is now looking very tired
Before we even arrived, I was already in contact via WhatsApp with Eric or Mr. Kang. They know my preferences as well as the tour plans we would like to visit. It pleases me that they are very accommodating. I was looking forward to this trip even more. We are a family of 5 with an elderly who is in a wheelchair and 2 teens. We booked the family room with 4 beds. The room itself was clean but the bathroom can use a little more cleaning. There’s stains on the wall or grout that makes it look dirty. Some may not be bothered with that but unfortunately, it’s disgusting for me to see molds or darkened grout esp in a hotel. The breakfast was average with the usual sausages, eggs, soup, bread, fruits, juice, coffee and etc. It’s helpful for us to have breakfast or food in the hotel especially early in the morning because we have a diabetic elderly. This is a plus for us.
The surrounding area of this hotel is why I booked here to begin with. It’s in the middle of Old Quarter Rd. It’s surrounded with eateries, shops and is very nearby the lake where a lot of activities happens. Everything is really nearby here if you’re just willing to walk. The staff are all friendly and accommodating especially the front desk. They speak little English and they really try to communicate and to please us. They helped us with our tours. We hired private driver from them and the price was reasonable. The hotel could use a little renovation but I guess the old look kinda fit right in the area. No pool here and no frills. The elevator is small, stairway a bit cramp. It’s really a 3 stars hotel if you really think about it. However, we pushed it up to 4 stars because of the front desk staff like Eric, who tries their best to give us a good vacation stay in their hotel. We truly enjoyed our vacation in Hanoi. We got to see lots of sights, we visited lots of unique places like the incense village and ate lots of good food like Pho and Ban mi. We appreciate their effort and contribution is making our stay in Hanoi memorable.
Thank you.
It was terrible first night at the hotel. The water is leaking from the tub all over the bathroom floor. I was so scared, my elderly parents is going to slide and fall. The hotel gave us bunch of towels to put on the floor but there was so much water, the towels didn’t help. I asked for a different room but they said they were fully occupied that night and had to wait the following day. I had a feeling they were aware of the leaking tub since I read another customer talking about a leaking bathroom on the review but I never expected that they would give it to the customer if it’s still leaking. Be aware, it’s the one and only room on the first floor, near where the reception area is located. If they give you that room, be sure to inspect the bathroom or ask for refund and leave. That’s what I should have done but we arrived late at night.
The area is close to all the tourist site. It’s about 50 minute drive from the airport. I paid $20 for the grab. Breakfast is free and decent. The receptionist speaks English. The second room they gave us is clean.
Two of the front desk staff were absolutely charming and spoke very good English. We don’t know the woman’s name but the man was Eric and if I had anything to do with it he would be the manager! All the staff were very helpful in every way. The room was perfectly adequate with a great shower. We didn’t find it to be noisy although in the Old Quarter of Hanoi. Breakfast was not like in the pictures but good nonetheless. Buffet and a la carte. Nice staff and never too crowded to have a table. Great location. A few blocks away was our favourite outdoor bbq and also a wonderful Indian restaurant. We tend to eat local with the one exception of a good Indian meal on occasion because it’s unavailable at home. We really liked this hotel and its sister hotel a few blocks away called The Little Diamond.
This hotel is not as advertised. Simply put they need to try a lot harder. The staff are rude and incompetent. The rooms are mostly clean in terms of floor, sheets and bathroom but everything is very tired and needs a good deep clean. Towels are provided but not enough and they're old. The hotel lobby is tired and we didn't even bother with breakfast which was included as it was served in the basement...this was a bit odd on its own. We had a fridge for the first few nights and then came back to our room after a day tour and it was gone. No communication, no apology, nothing. We didn't bother to mention it as everything else about the hotel was so mediocre and very very disappointing.
Super freundliche Beratung
Rooms are standard. Staff is very friendly and helpful. No trouble booking various tours. Property located in old quarter makes it good for shopping.
This is an older hotel that is spartan but clean and comfortable. Only a bathtowel is provided, no hand towels.
Breakfast was more than expected and was a very nice surprise. Front desk is extremely helpful. English spoken.
I had stayed in this hotel for 2 visits. The first visit was from 6 Nov (1 Night) and the second one was from 9 Nov to 11 Nov (2 Nights). For the first visit, i booked a Triple room with Balcony. The room was ok and i did not have any complaints. However, my second visit turned out to be extremely disturbing for us. We had booked a Family Suite. We reached the hotel at around 2 pm, but our room was not ready. In fact, the front desk guy could not even locate my reservation. To give him some time, I went out for lunch and returned back after an hour. The frnt desk guy showed me my room which was supposed to be a family room (according to him). However, there was some luggage in the room. As such, I refused to enter the room since I did not want to enter into trouble with the other guest, whose luggage was kept in his room. So, I informed him to give me some other family suite, which he could not give. SO, we had no choice but to occupy the triple room with Balcony for our stay. Obliviously, we requested the front desk to refund back (not the entire money - but the difference between the two rooms). However, he refused to do it and spoke very rudely and asked us to cancel the room. However, I did not want to waste my money since it was a non redundable booking and I had on option but to stay in the hotel.
We asked for face napkins (A basic thing which every 3* hotel is expected to have). However, they did not have any such thing. The breakfast was also very basic and not to the bare minimum standard of a 3 star property. Seeing the limited options for veg (not the hotel's fault that some of us are veg), we asked for honey. However, the hotel did not even have honey, which is to be applied to the bread.
And this is only the beginning of the story. The hotel forgot to collect payment from us for our first visit. I returned back to India and the front desk staff contacted me for the payment. By that time, I had posted a very brief feedback about the property on some booking portal. I readily agreed to pay and made the payment. The moment the payment was made, the tone of the frot desk staff changed dramatically. He started calling me names and threatened to broadcast my negative feedback everywhere in Vietnam (i have whatsapp to prove my claims about this). However, I refused to take back my feedback and have gone ahead to post it on tripadvisor.
I will not advise anyone to stay or not to stay in this property since everyone is his or her best judge. However, i felt that a front desk guy threatening people for giving a honest feedback does not go down well in any service industry. The basic thing which they could have done is to speak to us to understand our concerns and resolve it to the best of their ability. However, they chose the other way of threating to defame my name unless I do not take back my review on the othe site.
Location is a good part , room size is ok considering the area and location. What I don't like was Breakfast spread , lack of English knowledge in case of restaurant staff and their lack of hospitality attitude.
Front office staff was very good
lobby looks old, and door of all the rooms should be changed..should renovate overall rooms again
I booked 6 double bedded room through Agoda for 3 nights 18th to 21st May, the hotel is located on the heart of city there are many shops, Spa and mini store nearby hotel. The hotel staff are very welcoming and helpful, the rooms and wash rooms are excellent, but the room size is bit small and not spacious. They have good choice of breakfast and everyday same, there are many Indian restaurant for Indians and night club is walkable distance.
From the moment my sister and I stepped in, there was a member of staff who rushed to pick up our luggage. We were immediately welcomed by the receptionist Eric who gave us the warmest welcome of all our entire lives! After settling in, he helped us plan our stay in vietnam( this was a last minute trip for us so we didn’t have a fixed itinerary) we had no cash on us either but this did not deter him from helping us out and give us provide us with credit( stress free). He helped us plan our trip to the south and organised every moment spent there from our activities, to a driver and hotels during our stay in Danang and Hoi An. During our time in the south,he constantly checked up on us to ensure we were fine. Also Before leaving for the south we complained that the shower was slow and upon our return back to Hanoi he surprised us with a brand new shower. On our last day our suitcases got mixed up at the reception suitcase lobby with another guest who checked out at the same time. Eric handled the situation perfectly and accompanied us to the airport to locate the individual and collect our luggage by the grace of GOD. Needless to say his service is golden!! In terms of the hotel itself- it has a perfect location and is decent if you are on a budget as Cleanliness & food is average.
The diamond legend hotel was perfectly adequate for our 2 night stay, it was central to pretty much everything we needed. The staff were absolutely brilliant. Eric at reception was a fountain of knowledge and information and also a great fixer. If you need anything at all, ask him, he is happy to help. Although we only stayed for 2 nights, Eric told us we can leave our luggage here for a week as we’re traveling light to do the Ha Giang loop. Vietnam and her people are amazing.
ERIC, the front desk person, is extremely helpful. Speaks good English and assisted us in booking rides for all events. Eric made our trip planning so much easier. Thanks!
Nice hotel with good breakfast. Not many options in breakfast but good for a couple of days stay.
The pool is not maintained properly.
Hotel is in prime location which is a plus point.
Nice staff and friendly people.
Great place to experience all the hustle and bustle of Hanoi. 10 minute walk to the Old Quarter. We had 2 different rooms in March, both quite small and basic. Found a brilliant rooftop bar called Northern Soul at the end of Beer Street. Most staff were helpful, particularly Eric.
