Pros:

Staff are extremely friendly. This hotel has a lot of character and a lot of interesting areas to explore. Three different options for pools and a welcome margarita. The Wi-Fi was really strong. I brought my fire stick and it worked without buffering. The front desk was so cute:)

Charming hotel with unique rooms, with many walkable amenities
Pros:

Every room is unique! Through our party we saw 4 of the rooms on this stay, and they each have their own charm. We took full advantage of the two pools - it’s nice to have a bartender up on floor 7, or just bring your own drinks to floor 3. Breakfast was awesome! The menu is small but they do a great job of everything. We had a great time, and wouldn’t hesitate to come back to this hotel.

Cons:

The rooms are not well insulted from road noise. Anyone that is a light sleeper may have an issue.

Some of the rooms are showing some wear, but that is also some of the charm of the place. Overall a very good experience
Pros:

Location was very good. Staff were great.

Cons:

It could use some updating here and there.

I’ll be back.
Pros:

I just can’t imagine staying anywhere else when I’m down there. But to each his own. I like how not corporate it is.

Cons:

Nothing.
There’s one thing.. but every hotel does this. I saw the price online was a fair amount cheaper than it was at the front desk. Just match it and save me the work. But that’s not really a complaint as much as a suggestion.

Beware of the five star reviews
Pros:

Beware of the 5 star reviews. We booked the green room and as soon as we stepped into it, realized that it was not for us. The floor was painted black and the shower experience was awful. The location offers no privacy by the pool and the door lock was very flimsy. The room also needed to be deep cleaned.

To make matters worse, we got nowhere with the manager, Carolina, who could not explain why we were overbilled after several discussions. And like some stated, not once did she apologize although she did agree that we were overcharged. It was a very strange experience dealing with her. She listened intently, took all the information and never followed up. Each time it was the same.

Ensure that you check your billing carefully. We were happy to move on, will not return and will not recommend.

Warning
Pros:

The hotel is located in a quiet side street, trees and birds and a dry river in front.
Interior design is special and quaint; good rooms, good brkfst.
Javier, in charge of service, is welcoming and very helpful.

Why the warning?
Bcs u might get stranded in the shower without water.
Why go into detail?
Bcs it demonstrates attitude.
Why is it imprtnt?
Bcs my impression is the prblm is permanent.

At my first shower (23:00): pressure started weak; then water stopped all together; after 2 minutes, almost drying myself with soap on, burst of strong pressure; then trickle again.

In the morning I talked with the manager; she wasn't surprised, which says a lot.
She said they will try to fix it.

When I asked in the afternoon, she said prblm was fixed but cannot gurantee it won't return (duh?).
I took her offer to relocate to a room on the other side of the hotel.

Javier came to help me move. Before leaving the room we tried the shower; same trickle.
He agreed with me the prblm wasn't fixed, and said other rooms on that side had the same prblm.

During the whole process no one apologized or said "I m sorry".

Upon checkout, the manager told me not to pay 12 usd for one of my brkfsts. When I asked why, she said "bcs of water prblm".
Even then she couldn't utter the word "sorry".

Recommendation: Check ahead.

PS
In both rooms, despite dfrnt glass doors, shower water creats a pool over a quarter of bathroom floor.

Very cool hotel!
Pros:

Very cool hotel! It's a bit out of the way of the romantic zone which we liked. If you don't purchase direct, you don't get breakfast included but we upgraded when we got there. It also gave us a better room. We stayed in "Diego". We enjoyed the and the bed was comfortable. The view of our room was just of the dried up river but there's lots of cool villas to look at and we saw some cool green iguanas in the trees. The breakfast was nice but there's so many places to go out for brunch that I think I would do that next time.

The pools and hot tub are nice.

They have 2 cute cats that work the front desk.

Very cool place!

Living in a Dream
Pros:

I had an absolutely wonderful stay at this hotel, and the staff truly made the experience unforgettable. Every single person working here was kind, professional, and full of class—you can tell they genuinely care about their guests.

One staff member who stood out in particular was Ruben. He is one of the nicest and most helpful people I’ve ever encountered at a hotel. He went above and beyond in every way, always checking in on us, showing us around, and making sure we were comfortable. He was especially thoughtful and patient while helping an elderly lady I was traveling with, which meant so much to us. On top of that, he made the best piña coladas I’ve ever had! Well-mannered, attentive, and truly exceptional at what he does.

The hotel itself is absolutely breathtaking. The pools are gorgeous, and the sunsets—especially by the second pool—feel like something straight out of a dream. The rooftop is another highlight, featuring a massive, beautiful jacuzzi that’s perfect for relaxing and taking in the view.

The rooms are all unique, each with its own character and charm, almost like individual art pieces. Everything about this place feels thoughtfully designed and welcoming.

From the incredible staff to the stunning atmosphere, this hotel exceeded all expectations. Highly recommended, and I would return without hesitation.

Big name feel without the big chain price!!
Pros:

If you haven’t stayed at this hotel you are missing out on a hidden gem just a few minutes from the beach in the best part of Vallarta. This hotel is tastefully decorated, has great views, especially from the pool on the roof, and has a terrific restaurant. The breakfast was a joy every morning. We had a couples life changing massage on the balcony of our room that took all the stress away. The staff was very knowledgeable and friendly! If you want a luxury big chain feel without the big name prices, Rivera Del Rio will be your #1 choice. We truly enjoyed our stay and also saved a ton on our trip with this really cool stylish hotel.

Safe and romantic hotel near everything in Zona Romantica…with great service and Cats.
Pros:

We had the best 4 night stay at Hotel Boutique Rivera Del Rio. It’s in a safe quiet street off of the River Cuale and the Isla des Gatos. You can walk to local eateries, bars, shops and churches. Best of all, they have lobby pets - 3 cats. We were afraid to miss our pets at home, but the 3 sweet cats in the lobby greeted us every morning and evening when we got home. Also, the staff was incredible— Javier and Ivan and the breakfast staff were so warm and inviting. We stayed over New Years and they had a bottle of champagne as a surprise for us and toasting glasses. We already miss Kiki, the new kitten, and will need to visit soon to see her! Hasta Luego !

Romantic safe area close to everything in Zona Romatica
Pros:

The best part were the house cats. There is a kitten named Kiki and a cat named Elizabeth that roam the lobby and are so sweet. If you are missing your pets at home, they fill the void so well. The staff Javier and Ivan , especially, were fantastic. Everything was purrrfect!

Living in a Litter Box
Pros:

We were lured in with the positive reviews and the overwhelming consensus was not to return. Our group had 5 different rooms, so we got to see a variety of the offerings. The song "Hotel California" played over and over in my head while there...."you can check-out any time you like but you can never leave." That's the vibe. Luckily, I scored the jackpot with the best room, The Penthouse, the rest were slightly terrifying.
The pool area is nice, but small. It may be hard to get a seat if others are up there. We found the cocktails to be very expensive, $16 for a margarita, but the view was nice. We did see whales from the pool one day.
The towels verge on disgusting. They are very dingy, frayed and tattered. At the least, replace the towels with new ones as it's long overdue.
For me, the biggest turn-off was the cats that hang in the hotel. I'm severely allergic to cats and my first impression when I walked in was to try and not breathe. They also crap in the hallway and the second floor seemed to be their litter box. Going to grab a cup of coffee and side stepping over a pile of cat diarrhea doesn't feel clean and hospitable. We all could not wait to move on to our next destination at check-out.

Beautiful & original decor with rooftop heated pool & panoramic views.
Pros:

I dreamt about this hotel for months before coming, and it even surpassed my expectations. We watched the New Year’s fireworks from the aforementioned rooftop pool, and had the best view in town! There is a second pool, & a jacuzzi.

Excellent service from Javier, Carolina, et al, who were friendly, helpful, and made us feel welcome.

Located next to a river & 2-minute walk to Isla Cuale, where we went for shade, picturesque restaurants, & the outdoor tourist market.

The lobby also plays home to 2 adorable cats.

And the breakfast (which is included if you book directly with them, and the booking is less expensive, too) is tasty and a good size.

My well-traveled adult daughter said this might be her favorite hotel ever. It’s certainly one of mine.

CATS IN HOTEL!!
Pros:

We stayed at this boutique hotel for our 20th wedding anniversary. The staff is very friendly and hard working. But there are cats living in the hotel, sleeping in the lobby and on all the furniture and tables. I am highly allergic to cats and struggled to breathe the whole week we were there. I had to buy strong allergy meds to add to what I was already taking and they did not help. They refused to give us a refund to stay somewhere else. I will never stay here again and cannot recommend it.

I will keep coming back!
Pros:

I’ve stayed here multiple times over the years and I even had my bachelor party at the hotel, which Alex helped us arrange. The breakfast is delicious. The location is very convenient and quiet and the staff is excellent. the new tower is also a beautiful addition with the rooftop pool. Will continue coming back.
