We were in town for our daughter's Admitted Students day at The University of the South (Sewanee) and decided to splurge on a stay at the hotel. It was beautifully decorated with comfortabl beds, friendly staff, and spotlessly clean facilities.
It's a little pricier than our typical hotel stays, but we knew that going into it.
Loved the patio, the common spaces and the ability to walk to trails from door
Booked months in advance when multiple rooms were available. Was given ADA room under the stairs with views of parking lot. Likely due to booking with 3rd party.
The location was great, the staff was very helpful and friendly, and the building interior was lovely. The room was beautiful, and it was very quiet and peaceful. Loved being on the golf course and watching the daily groom first thing every morning! It was great having bottled water in the room too.
The bathroom door slammed into the wall by the toilet; a doorstop of some sort would be helpful.
The grits at breakfast weren't good (and we generally love grits). The rest of breakfast was fine.
Breakfast was excellent and of good value.
Plenty of choices. My eggs benedict was perfect!
Very nice stay at the Sewanee Inn over Thanksgiving week. The Town/Campus/Inn was very quiet due to Holiday. The view was great overlooking the Golf Course. The dinners and drinks were very good. Our daughter enjoyed her campus Visit, which was just down the street from the Inn. The staff were very nice and accommodating. Fireplace was the perfect spot for a hot cocoa.
Better lighting in restrooms. Too dim.
Clean comfortable friendly
Wonderful getaway with my sister. I have Celiac Disease. We had a couple of cocktails and decided to eat in the bar our first night. Bartender was kind to check with the kitchen for something gluten free that I could eat. It was delicious and satisfying salad with steak. Both bartenders graciously googled ingredients in the specialty cocktails to guarantee gluten free. The room was comfortable. The setting was serene plus! Walking trails through the woods just steps from the parking lot. The walk into town for a little shopping was gentle and scenic. All the staff were friendly and even the other guests were a delight.
Keurig in the room as well as coffee offered in the lobby was, well, appalling to us lovers of strong dark roast. Next time I will bring my own coffee and a small mellita pot. Can't even nitpick about anything else.
We only spent one night here but we loved it!
The decor is elegant and fits tastefully in with the campus architecture and the surrounding forest. Very clean with very nice furnishings (the bed was GREAT!). They were sprucing up the hallways…a good sign they intend to keep their standards high!
The staff were extremely friendly and helpful and even provided what is now an “old fashioned” service: an evening turndown!
The service for breakfast was also excellent but the food was a mixed bag. My Sewanee Inn Breakfast was good but my wife described her Eggs Benedict as “looking microwaved”!
We are looking forward to another visit soon!!
This hotel is nice! It was nice that the rooms are on one side and the restaurant is on the other. Beautiful lobby and entryway. There was a fire going in the lobby when we arrived which made it feel cozy. The beds were soft which made for a great nights sleep! We definitely would stay here again! We stayed here to go to The Caverns for an event so it was ideal location.
Beautiful boutique hotel
We loved everything about our accommodations!
The restaurant was not a positive experience. It took a very long time to get our food and my allergy info was not told to the kitchen, so my food contained ingredients I was allergic to but I fortunately saw it! My husbands food was room temp. I was disappointed in the value of my dinner. I paid $42 for scallops and had 3. Everything tasted great in spite of everything else.
We had an absolutely fabulous stay here. We came just one night from Chattanooga for an anniversary dinner at High Point Restaurant (which is just about a 10 minute drive). The Inn is super clean and so comfortable. They do a turn down service and have bathrobes, the room even has an umbrella. We got a golf course view room, and had fun just watching them play by our window. The best part is the comfortable bed and bedding!
Nice place
The Sewanee Inn has amazing scenic views, wonderful dining and an extraordinarily fun bar. We go to Shakerag almost every week and enjoy the camaraderie and excellent service at the bar. Everyone visiting Sewanee or Monteagle should check it out.
Really beautiful place. We will definitely stay here again. Very clean. Very helpful and professional staff. Highly recommend.
