This place has charm but our room didn’t have hot water. They had someone come fix it and extended our checkout time, which was nice. However, while the hot water got fixed, the drain would not drain and the water was yellow. It was gross. Also, the king size bed only came with two standard sized pillows which was odd. At least the people that work there are nice.
Great location and quirky hotel, however lacking in atmosphere. Whole place seems tired and in need of refresh. Room very small (nowhere to put suitcases/clothes) and walls thin so could hear people clearly in next rooms and above. Bathroom in dire need of refurbishment. Sink was cracked in several places and been repaired badly. Costly breakfast, drinks served in paper cups. Upside: bed was amazingly comfortable and sheets immaculate.
This hotel needs some serious refurbishing! I have stayed in many old hotels around the world, but they update them as needed. Especially bathrooms. This one was a mess and they charged us $1000 a night just because it was December in NYC! However, the staff was lovely and very accommodating.
Lots to love about this charming hotel -- friendly staff, wonderful historic feel, beautiful outdoor spaces, excellent coffee bar in the lobby, great location right next to the High Line. It's expensive though, and the value for money has to be in the eye of the beholder. The building dates to the 1800s, and the infrastructure is very much in need of an update. My room was freezing one night, but so relentlessly hot the next night I had to be moved to a different room. (Thermostats in the rooms are just for show.) The quirky charm is delightful, but it comes with issues like no electrical outlets near the bed, bathtubs that don't drain, vintage furniture you can't really sit on, and crumbling/discolored plaster and paint. The steampunk aesthetic of the hotel was fashionable when it opened, but is now looking a little tired. Updates are needed to bring the experience of this hotel up to its price point. However, if you favor location, historic charm, and friendliness over more standard hotel amenities, the downsides can probably be overlooked.
What a fabulous hotel! It's quirky, charming, historic, clean and in a neighborhood that's fun to explore. It's also pet friendly and we got to admire several dogs while their humans waited for coffee. The beds are so comfortable that the mattress company offers discounts to guests who want one of their own. Every room includes interesting touches, including antiques, an embosser, coloring book and pencils. We were in a room at the top of a tower and had a great view of the seminary next door. We were there over Halloween and I was delighted to see a hotel employee with large pots of candy for trick or treaters.
This hotel is historic and decorated accordingly! The rooms are huge for NYC standards and the bathrooms are as well! The water pressure was fabulous and all employees were friendly and accommodating! The construction outside was bad timing!!
One of the worst nights of my life at a NYC hotel. I actually had to leave the hotel at 10 PM and find another hotel to spend the night. The AC in the whole building was turned off because they were converting to heat in 2 weeks and I had to close the window because of deafening street construction (on the 2nd floor facing the 10th Avenue) which started at 9 PM. The staff offered no solutions, just shrugged their shoulders.
We had an amazing experience at the High Line hotel!
The vibes are really unique, retro, vintage, English,…
The staff was super friendly and helpful.
Will definitely come back! 🥰
Do not stay at this hotel.
The HVAC system is not working, rather than alert customers at check-in or earlier, they allow you to go into a room and discover this for yourself. Our room was hot, humid, and smelled musky. I asked the front staff for help, they offered none. Specifically, on the first night I was there, they said they could not move me to another room and the problem affected the whole hotel. I asked for a fan, they said there were none. Left with no other choice, we opened our windows. Try sleeping in New York City with open windows.
There was a silverfish on the wall to greet us. Again, no help from the front staff. Management is difficult to pin down and weasel-like at best.
Next, the hotel is dirty. It’s not simply old, it’s shabby. They have not maintained the textiles, the walls need to be painted, the rugs need to be replaced. This is not a cheap hotel, they are simply taking shortcuts.
The building is beautiful on the outside, and the location is great, but this is not a hotel, it’s a Hostel run by an incompetent team that is charging an insane amount of money for a horrendous experience.
I repeat, do not stay here.
loved every bit of our stay at The High Line Hotel. Being so close to Hudson Yards, the High Line and Chelsea Market made this a perfect spot to stay and explore this part of New York. All the staff were friendly and helpful - and the coffee at Intelligentsia was fantastic. Would highly recommend for anyone wanting a handy base for exploring New York!
Very cool hotel, spacious room for NYC, coffee shop onsite and great location. Only knocks were the AC was out and room was stuffy with no air flow, so tough to sleep. O
Major style points! Excellent coffee shop! Quiet and comfortable rooms! Cookshop restaurant across the street has great vegetable tempura too!
The bathroom was not good. I felt like I was in a college dorm.
Very nice casual vibe there.
Old-fashioned boutique hotel with the charm of bygone days.
Room could use more comfortable chairs
The most comfortable bed ever! I had my best night of sleep in this hotel! I loved the water refill station and the courtyard. Excellent neighborhood.
Beautiful property and extremely comfortable and clean. Walkable distance to everything. The staff was very welcoming and helpful!
The room temperature was great as well as the bed & pillows. Our room was spacious. Would love to see them add some shelving in the bathroom since there’s no counter space around the sink.
Only one elevator but we didn’t find it an issue since we could take the stairs from the 2nd floor.
You can’t beat the location if you come into Penn Station. All you have to do is get on the High Line and walk until it’s time to get off.
Our room was extremely clean and I was able to sleep well because there was no noise interference.
Our only issue was that the shower didn’t drain so that made it unusable. We were only in town for one night so we dealt with it and management gave us a partial refund.
