Positive: Good pool & spa facilities. Friendly staff.
Negative: the room was noisy. The food at breakfast & dinner was awful.

The reception team are very helpful and always greeted you as you come out of the lift's. Our room was great on the 5th floor with 2 balconies. The cleaning was not great by the maids but all in all a fab room and good hotel.

Great location, staff and amenities. Will deffo be returning in the future. The only thing I wasn't too keen on was the buffet style breakfast and dinner. There are many places to eat close by at good prices though.

The aquapark is big, the pools are warm enough, but a few buttons for waterfalls are not working, still great. The staff was very kind. They offered an apartment for us, but we prefer two rooms, because the apartments are in the next building and it is not so convenient to go to the pools from there. We need to change one of our rooms for the second night, not a big deal, but still little unpleasant.
Overall, very nice stay.

Me and my mum really loved this hotel, the staff and its facilities. As it was a low season, we seem to have the whole place to ourselves. The heated swimming pool outside made of rock where we stayed for hours, the spa with its saunas and the big two bedroom apartment we shared with my friend. Everything was very clean and luxurious. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. We had a late night flight so they allowed us to check out later than usual. We were on our vegan challenge but still found plenty of good food from the buffet as well as the menu. Overall had a very positive experience and even a tan. Already planning a new trip there. We rented a car and it was about two hours drive from Sofia but the journey was enjoyable due to great landscape. We also did a day trip to Greece that is an hour away.

Our second trip to the Astera. It was just as perfect as our first trip first trip 2 years ago. I wouldn't stay anywhere else in Bansko! It's a short walk to the gondola and in the nicest part of the town close to the edge of the Pirin Forest where there are some great walks. The hotel is great value for money and we love it! Just a fabulous holiday all round. Looking forward to next year already!

Great hotel , very handy for gondola

My general impression is that this hotel is closer to a three star in terms of experience but achieved a four star ranking based on range of facilities.

We stayed for 4 nights. The hotel is well-situated in town for access to the lifts. There are numerous facilities including outdoor pool (slightly dirty) and sauna and indoor pool. The staff were mostly helpful.

Our room seemed dusty, beds were two singles pushed and made together not a double as advertised. Beds were not comfortable and heating / air con seemed to increase dust. Some of the furnishings were repaired by being stapled together. Literally. Bathrooms however were good.

Breakfasts were good, dinners were ok.

It was great for skiing, the food however was generally cold and not that of a 4 star

We were staying in a old building. The maintenance of the room was very bad. The shower was broken. one of the wall was with a leak.
We ask that some one will come to check the problem and no one came......

Very good location. Staff was brilliant. Nice breakfast. Excellent facilities. Would definitely come back again.

Fantastik spa

The positive part of this hotel is (1) its location, near to all shops and restaurant. The negative part of this hotel are (1) Some of the hotel staff at reception desk is very unfriendly and unhelpful. She is giving guests the look of unwilling to help when I approached her to ask the location of a restaurant and money changer; (2) there are two buildings, the one given to us is a 14 years old building, so room is old and desperately needed to renovate it to bring up to a 4 star hotel standard (it was stated as a 4 star hotel); (3) Beds are too soft, easily caused back pain if you sleep on them too many nights; (4)Breakfast and dinner provided in the restaurant are horrible. I ate some on my first night, too salty and meat are too tough. At the end, I only eat salad and fruits for the rest of my stay. Variety is ok but quality of the food is not up to a 4 star hotel standard. (5) Before I left for holiday, I was given information by the hotel staff that Euro is acceptable in hotel. However, when I checked out and needed to settle some bill, the receptionist told me only Bulgaria Leva is acceptable. At the last minute, I need to rush back to money changer in the town to exchange some Leva. It is not acceptable that a 4 star hotel provides incorrect information to guests.

The food in this place it's probably one of the worse I've ever had .. Plus the attitude of the staff .. Terrible

I booked this hotel based on the good reviews that it had got and was surprised and excited by how cheap it was for a 4* hotel with half board in relation to the hotel description and facilities. Let's just say that you get what you pay for.
Pro's:
- Close to centre and gondola (5 minutes walk).
- Big, comfortable room.
- Spa and pool area is great, especially the hot outdoor pool.
- Helpful front desk staff although not all speak great english.
- Clean.
- Free wifi in lobby (worked some of the time - see cons below).

Cons:
- Food - dinner was pretty inedible although breakfast was passable.
- Service aside from front desk was awful. Staff in the dining room stood around chatting without helping guests.
- Spa refused to give additional towels (a bathrobe was provided in your room). We had to check out in the morning and shower after skiing before flying home. Although promised a towel they only had a tiny waffle robe available. The lady at the spa desk was angry and rude when we requested proper towels, sighing and rolling her eyes as such an 'audacious' request.
- Wifi in lobby didn't work in the evening when there were too many people trying to use it.
- Wifi (paid for) in room did not work.
In summary: Great hotel if you want basic but fairly cheap 4* facilities with a relaxing spa and don't mind about receiving poor staff service.

A good experience in your hotel. Evrething is ok. SPA center is very ok. SKI center have a nice people.
