Nice, comfortable budget Hotel in Central Mumbai.
It's a basic hotel but then one gets what one pays for.
- Right near Accura Station on Metro Line 3, making it super easy and quick to get to the city center.
- There are great local eateries nearby for a late-night bite when you're hungry.
- Daily housekeeping kept the room very clean and neat.
- The rooftop restaurant has a nice, clean selection of dishes.
- Staff were friendly and helpful throughout the stay.
- Wi-Fi speed was fast and stable.
- Not sure if all rooms are like this, but mine didn't have a window. I had to leave the AC and ceiling fan running the whole time.
- No elevator in the building. Luckily, my room was on the 1st floor (ground floor/lower floor), so I didn't have to carry my bags up too far.
- Sound insulation could be better. I didn't notice it on the first night, but on the second night, there was quite a bit of noise from people talking outside.
- The small wardrobe/closet setup was awkward to use. It would be much better if they provided proper clothes hangers.
After a disappointing experience at another hotel in Mumbai, my family and I arrived at Hotel Kumkum, and what a refreshing change it was! From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed warmly and treated with genuine hospitality.
A special mention goes to Mr. Amol, who was exceptionally helpful and supportive. His courteous behaviour and willingness to assist us made a real difference to our experience. Sometimes, it is not just about the room or the facilities but the people who make you feel comfortable and welcome, and Mr. Amol truly deserves appreciation for that.
The hotel is located in a convenient part of Mumbai on Lamington Road, making it easy to access different areas of the city. Taxis are readily available, which is a big plus for travellers who want to explore Mumbai without worrying about transportation.
The rooms are on the compact side, and the 9:30 AM checkout time may feel a little early for some guests. However, our room was comfortable, and we had a pleasant and relaxing stay. The hotel also has a small, charming café serving basic snacks, which is a convenient option for a quick bite in the morning.
Overall, Hotel Kumkum is a great budget-friendly option for short stays in Mumbai, especially for families and travellers looking for a convenient location, comfortable accommodation, and friendly service without spending a fortune.

The location of the hotel is very close to a metro stop, which makes it very convenient due to the traffic in Mumbai.
The room has a strong AC and fan, good lighting and clean private bathroom.
The resturant upstairs has very delicious Indian food for a reasonable price.
The staff were very nice and accommodating.
The normal double room is just too small, the bed is like 70% of the room so I can't imagine two people staying there. For a solo traveler it's barely okay.
The pillows were very hard and uneven.
It gets loud in the morning because people have to check out by 9:30, so around 8-8:30 it starts getting a bit loud.

During my eleven-night stay at Hotel Kumkum, I was consistently impressed by the warmth and professionalism of the entire team. The manager is an exceptional individual: personable, an excellent communicator, and wonderfully accommodating, going out of the way to ensure every need was met with grace and good humour. The staff were equally devoted, displaying a genuine eagerness to assist at any hour, even arranging late-night food deliveries well past midnight without hesitation.
The hotel’s in-house restaurant is superb in its own right, and its location is nothing short of ideal. Positioned at the very heart of the city and ringed by lively local markets, it made every commute effortless and every outing a pleasure. I would recommend Hotel Kumkum wholeheartedly to any traveller, and I look forward to returning.
Nothing really however on a practical note: the property has no lift, so guests travelling with mobility or accessibility needs may wish to plan accordingly.
Area around was central but crowded, congested and noisy

The location was easy as we were travelling by train the next day very early via Mumbai Central. The porters/bell boy were very helpful.
Contacted in advance regarding our early arrival and to assist in keeping our rooms ready. However, upon arrival this was not the case. We had to wait on the top floor basic canteen which was an obvious ploy for us to purchase food/drinks. We requested twin beds and despite advance request we were allocated a double bedroom with no windows. They would not even give us a spare bedsheet/cover. In the evening requested to pay the food bill but the manager said he would let us know after 10pm we needed to get to the train station at 5 so an early night resulted in numerous calls from the manager to the room up until 11pm when I told him I will pay in the morning. He said cash only at that stage and when I did pay in the morning the staff did not have any change! I requested a receipt and said he would send it by 9.30am but still to date nothing has come through. THIS IS FOR LOCALS!
