Super clean, quiet and 10/10 service. The rooms are big, have all necessary amenities, yukatas, and a traditional bath. The lounge offers different kinds of snacks and tea. For dinner the restaurant served a delicious 8-course meal of different Japanese dishes.
The atmosphere was peaceful and relaxing. Complimentary drinks, snacks, toiletries, towels, and traditional yukata were provided, and the room had everything we needed. The library lounge also came with books and activities for us to try. The food was delicious and we could tell the staff really took pride in the inn and their work
A beautiful ryokan in the heart of Gion. Very nice staff, immaculate rooms, and nice dinner and breakfast. Walking distance to lots of restaurants and cool temples.
What a beautiful and relaxing place to stay with traditional atmosphere! We highly recommend. It is worth a couple nights to relax and enjoy quiet from busy travel and exploring. Perfect location for shops and sightseeing walking distance. The dinner provided by the chef is a fantastic experience as well with great care and detail in dinner presentation. Reserve dinner at least once during your stay! In summary, absolutely lovey rooms and relaxing.
The absolute best spot we could have chosen to stay in Kyoto. It’s tucked away off of the street and from the second you step past the door you are attended to. The staff is so incredibly friendly and attentive to anything you need. The rooms are clean and give you the feel of staying in traditional housing with some modern amenities. It’s worth it to get the meals included. Breakfast is traditional and light. Dinner is an omakase experience that left us stuffed. The ryokan is quiet and gives you the feel of staying in someone’s home. By the end of our time here we left wishing we had stayed in Kyoto longer. Cannot recommend enough!
We spent one night here and really enjoyed the peace and quiet amidst a busy area of Kyoto. The atmosphere was lovely and the beds were very comfortable and cozy. The food was excellent and we particularly enjoyed the breakfast. The staff were very attentive and courteous.
Exceptional accommodation, staff, service and location.
We had an amazing stay.
We had an amazing stay at this ryokan in the heart of Higashiyama, just a minute walk from the Yasaka Pagoda.
My husband and I visited Japan for our honeymoon and this was our favorite place we stayed. The room was amazing, especially the private onsen bathroom with the deep cedar bath. I could have spent our entire time in Kyoto at the ryokan and I would’ve been happy.
The food was also exceptional. My husband and I were shocked at the craftsmanship put into our 8 course omakase style dinners. Every dish was a piece of art and we looked forward to dinner at the Ryokan every night.
The general service from staff was very welcoming, friendly, and accommodating. I had a personal health issue that they handled extremely well and politely.
We will be staying here again if we visit Kyoto, and I highly recommend this ryokan, especially if your intention is to see many temples within walking distance.
My wife and I booked here for the final night of our stay in Kyoto. This Ryokan is cozy and friendly. The rooms are beautiful. The staff very friendly. We included the dinner and breakfast wearing the provided yukata’s which were provided. The dinner was spectacular. The breakfast was traditional. So not bacon and eggs. We would highly recommend this place for a stay.
The staff, service and food were exceptional. The location was perfect for what we wanted out of a four night stay in Kyoto. But, it was the staff that made the experience memorable. Some of the key spots are just around the corner from the hotel. Given the crowds during the day, it was easy to see them early in the morning or after dinner when the crowds were much smaller. If you are looking for the perfect atmosphere from a traditional small Japanese Ryoken then look no further!
A lovely hotel in a beautiful neighborhood close to many temples that you can easily walk to within 5 to 10 minutes. The Wagyu dinner was beyond words delicious. The hotel staff was so helpful when I hurt my arm and needed to see a doctor. My husband and I highly recommend, a Five Star experience!
What a wonderful place to stay - I enjoyed five nights at Kyokoyado Yasaka Yutone- a beautiful traditional inn with great staff, excellent chef and very clean an comfortable rooms. The location is great too - walking distance to World Heritage Sights, museums and historic streets of Gion famous for geiko (geishas) who still practice their dancing and musical skills today - but in exclusive tea houses. My room had a deep cypress wood bathtub I enjoyed relaxing in after busy days touring. The food was fabulous- with local produce, fish and meat prepared by creative chefs. This inn has only 7 or 8 rooms and I was so fortunate to book one in advance.
I hope to return in the future. It was a wonderful, welcoming beautiful place to stay!
Overall, it felt like such a a traditional and authentic experience - also, the staff were lovely enough to hold our bags as we explored the city of Kyoto and gracefully catered to my specific dietary requirements. Highly recommend getting the Wagyu dinner package too!
This is a beautiful little ryokan right in the heart of Gion. Their rooms are lovely - we stayed in 2 different rooms during our stay and they were both charming and comfortable. The breakfast and dinner meals are delicious and filling, and the staff go out of their way to make you comfortable and ensure you have a pleasant stay. On top of all of that, being able to walk out the door and into the most beautiful little streets of Gion, and beat the crowds (and the heat) to Kiyomizudera is a great experience. I would love to stay here again!
Clean room with many amenities. Beautiful natural wood bath. Staff was phenomenal. The food was excellent. This stay has been the highlight of our trip.
We had the most wonderful 3-night stay at this traditional Japanese inn. We appreciate the warm hospitality of all the front desk and restaurant staff. It made us feel so welcomed at this beautiful boutique inn. The traditional breakfast and kaiseki dinners were delicious and artfully presented. Our tatami bedroom was cozy and offered all the comfort and convenience for our days of exploring Gion. The relaxing in the wooden bath tub was truly a blessing after a full day of sightseeing. Most importantly, the inn’s location really can be beat. Being within only a few steps from the popular spots like Ninnenzaka and Sennezaka paths, Yasaka Shrine, allowed us to stroll around the empty streets during the quiet morning and evening hours. I highly recommend this inn!

Excellent ryokan in heart of old Kyoto
The hotel is absolutely wonderful, even our 7 year old was in awe. Beautiful rooms and bathrooms with a huge cedar bathtub to soak in, great staff and luxurious feeling all around. Dinner was incredible, easily the best of our entire vacation. Location is also unbeatable, in a traditional area and walkable to everywhere, while at the same time being in a quiet street and outside of the circuit or tourists walking elbow to elbow. I highly recommend it, I don’t think we could have stayed at a better place in Kyoto.
The location was perfect. Located in the Gion district with temples, shrines, the Hokan-Ji Temple just steps away. The rooms are very nice and beds are extremely comfy. Breakfast was delicious!
