Amazing staff, comfortable accommodation and total value for money. Been here many times and look forward to our holiday here. It's so close to everything in Polis.
Absolutely fabulous, stavros and Tui have made our stay at the Bourgonvillas so wonderful. The gardens are really well maintained, only a short walk from polis square. We are still here for another week and have already booked for October 26 ,food fantastic rooms cleaned every day, can't rate this place enough
Just returned from week break the most beautiful gem 5 mins from the square with several taverns an bars near supermarket polis beach ABIT walk for me so didn't get there latsi beach was lovely went harbour for blue lagoon trip used local taxi to both had drinks and food at apartments which are reasonably priced Hugo was favourite cocktail Stavros Stella and all other staff make the holiday apartments little dated had everything you needed we loved them 2 balcanies lovely flowers all around cleaned every other day new bedding an towels when needed pool was lovely no sunbeds wars beds all day we went last week in August me and my sister had a calming relaxed week would go back tomm finally met some lovely people while there
This was our first visit here. We were welcomed by Stavros and Tui with fresh orange juice and homemade cake. 5☆ treatment by Stavros and team. Stavros is a lovely gent with an excellent sense of humour. Both him and staff work tirelessly to ensure guests are happy. Polis town is a short walk away. Restaurants are within 5 minute walk of the apartments. We didn't manage to eat in the hotel but other guests complemented on how nice the food was.
15 minute slow walk to the beach, go out the bottom gate then through the old campsite. We hired a car to explore. Exploring is recommended as so much to see. There's a bus station in the town next to the information bureau, buses go local and into Paphos. If you just want to relax you can do so around the pool or in the grassy areas.
We had an upstairs/downstairs room we definitely needed the air-conditioning however this is only in the bedroom. There's plenty of balcony space plus a patio. I did manage to cook a few things on the small cooker. Keep all foodstuff in the fridge or wrapped up well in zip bags or containers, so not to encourage ants or other beasties.
It was good to have a drinking water tap. Store some in bottles in the fridge.
I do agree with other's that the rooms could be doing with some TLC. Look past that and enjoy the hospitality and the beauty of the area. I do believe some of the studios have been upgraded. Perhaps we'll get one of them next time.
I recommend the Bougainvillea.
What a beautiful hotel , Stavros and his staff go above and beyond. The bar is lovely with our door searing & fragrant flowers. Will definitely be returning
Lovely week at this low key but attentive small apartment complex.
Stavros and the team are very welcoming and friendly.
I was out exploring most days but breakfast was always good and there is a pool available if you wish to stay on site for the day.
The beach is a 15 minute walk away.
Polis central square is just a couple of minutes walk providing a number of small shops and traditional tavernas.
What a break we had . Two weeks of relaxing in a place so chilled . Just what we wanted. The host Stavros and his team made sure we were well looked after. Polis Square 5 minute walk for dining.Beach 5 mins away. Definitely will return , the accommodation is basic but its very clean. Polis and Latchi amazing places .
Just back from a brilliant, relaxing holiday. We stayed in a suite, one large room, beautifully clean and excellent housekeeping.
If you want to relax and have some you time this is the place to go...
From the breakfast, cooked to order
The sunbeds around the pool
Excellent drinks and snacks by the pool
Good old fashioned service with a smile
Thank you Stavrous, Stella and Tui
We had a lovely stay at the Bougainvillea apartments, the service especially was excellent throughout our stay. Stavros was around everyday if you needed anything and stayed up late to greet all guests. We loved the pool area and spent most days there, no sunbed wars here! Could get a bed at any time of day you needed and the pool was clean/perfect temperature. Something we enjoyed more than anticipated was the food at the hotel. The breakfast included was great and we tried out all of the options available to us. But also, all the other food was exceptional, the club sandwiches and chips which we shared for lunch most days was exceptional. The staff work hard, they cannot do enough for you and I imagine thats why people come back every year! We wish we had booked for longer instead of the 4 nights. The aircon in the bedroom was excellent in the night (10 euros per night).
We have few negatives of the entire holiday - mainly the warmth of the apartment, when we arrived it was boiling so we struggled to sleep. You cannot leave the aircon on during the day as the key operates the electricity, equally meaning you can’t charge anything such as mobile phones unless you are in the room. Also, WIFI is only available in the shared areas, not the rooms.
Despite these minor issues we would definitely stay again, Polis is so quiet and relaxing as a place and the Bougainvillea apartments match the calm.
A lovely family run hotel with self catering apartments. Whilst some of the decor may appear in need of refreshing, the service and amenities are great. Sit by the pool, or in the garden, all day, and then drinks and meals available at the bar.
Staff are really friendly and helpful, and there is plenty of room for all the guests.
Basic, clean accommodation, exactly what we needed. The one bed apartment is big - one room downstairs (kitchen & lounge), bathroom & bedroom upstairs. Air conditioning available for extra charge in the bedroom only (but well worth it in the summer heat). 2 balconies plus nice little terrace at the front too. Plenty of covered parking.
Nice bar and food - particularly when they can pick the ingredients fresh from the garden when you order!
Stavros and the other staff are all welcoming, friendly and helpful.
A lot of the people staying there have been regulars for years (says a lot).
Short walk to bars/restaurants/supermarket.
Just back from a 2 week stay at the Bougainvillea & had a great time. A lovely place in an ideal position for the beach & the town facilities.
We stayed in a 2nd floor studio &, despite it not being a renovated one, it was spotless & everything worked as it should. The studio had basic cooking facilities, toaster, fridge with freezer compartment, microwave & hairdryer. Also had a double bed, ceiling fan plus aircon for an additional €10 per day.
Decent over bath shower with great water pressure & loads of hot water at any time of the day.
The pool area is smallish & there are plenty of sunbeds with a few more in the garden area. The pool bar wasn’t open whilst we were there but the lobby bar is open a few strides away. The food served at the hotel was very good indeed & fairly priced - I recommend the home made moussaka. Stavros, Stella & Sui provide friendly service & the bar prices are virtually the same as anywhere else in Polis. You can also put your food & drink on your room & pay at the end of your stay if preferred.
Most of the guests are ‘regulars’ who have been holidaying here multiple times which says volumes. A very friendly place indeed.
Thankyou Stavros & your team for looking after us so well & best wishes.
Fabulous stay
What a lovely welcome from Stavros and Tui despite it being 3.30 am !
Fresh orange juice and cake were lovely .
Stavros showed us your apartment
It was lovely over 2 floors , clean and spacious
The apartments are so lovely , so peaceful and pretty
All the staff were amazing , friendly and so helpful and cheerfull . Always checking you were happy .
The food was lovely , especially with the Ingredients picked fresh from the amazing allotments on site . Thanks Tui
She works so hard . Her cakes are amazing .
The area is beautiful and so pretty and relaxed.
Little walk to the town square , where there was such a chilled traditional Cypriot feel .
Plenty of choice of eating places and several
supermarkets .
Larger supermarket a bit further out , but still walkable .
The pool area was clean and everyone was so friendly .
The beach was a little further to walk and was very hot , so we stayed mainly around the pool or the lovely gardens or sat on our balcony enjoying the peace .
We can’t rate these apartments enough .
Area is pretty and it worth getting a car to explore more .
Such a lovely welcome and departure with hugs from staff .
We loved Cyprus and hope to return next year .
Thank you Stavros ., Stella and Tui and the cleaning ladies .
Just back from this beautiful resort. First time we have stayed here, we use to pop in for evening drinks and watch the sunset. Have been trying to book as its always full, now I know why. Firstly the apartments are kept spotless, everything you need for self catering (although we hardly did, as the restaurants around are superb) The pool area is fab, sunloungers are the best we have lay on. The breakfast and meals are first class. Plenty to choose from the bar, mine of course pink G & T. The staff are all so helpful, accommodating, and lots of smiles especially Sui 😊 and Stella But of course I've left the best till last, the owner Stavros, what a special man he is, always there to help you with anything you need, what a gentleman ❤️ missing him already.
We’ve just returned from Polis and the bougainvillea hotel apartments, Stavros and his team made us feel so welcome.
On arrival day we were presented with juice and a home cooked cake, everyone was so friendly.
Now, I need to validate my four stars or rather the lack of a fifth, this was purely down to the apartment was in need of an update. There was everything you’d need for your stay and the space was huge as the apartments on two floors.
As it was November the weather was better than expected, we had a storm but it cleared up by noon with nice sunny weather for the evening.
Polis is a small town, with say a dozen restaurants and a handful of bars open at this time of year and 3k (50mins) walk away along the coastal path is the harbour town of latchi where we spent our days. It’s about the same size but very pretty.
I should say the walk to latchi was through the old camp site which is now derelict which was a shame but it’s only a small part of the walk, and the rest of the area is lovely. I believe work is soon to commence on the camp site.
We picked Polis because we hoped it would be less commercial than paphos and we got what we wanted. It was such a relaxing 7 days, the food was great everywhere we went and very reasonable.
We very much enjoyed our time.
If you want peace and quiet then this is your place!
Great location to the Centre, close to the beach, bus station in polis centre that can take you to most places and walkable to Latchi, lovely during the day!
A few cats on the resort and a loveable ginger one. Please feed them :)
We had a refurbed studio and loads of space and lovely balcony.
Polis it self gives you more than you need with plenty of eateries and bars. Lovely little town!
Pros
Great friendly staff
Good location 5 min walk from the square an 15 min to the beach
Good breakfast
Spacious rooms
Clean
Cons
Rooms a little tired and in need of upgrade
Limited room around pool (although there is a nice grassed area that compensates)
Summary
we met so many people that returned year after year so they are definitely doing it right.
I stayed at the Bougainvillea Hotel in June 24 in a one bedroom apartment with my partner. I have been to Paphos many times but this was my first visit to Polis and first time in Cyprus for my partner. Being a hotel manager myself in the UK, I can be quite critical but I can honestly say this was one of the best holidays I have ever had. The team are so friendly and welcoming. The accommodation was clean and in a great location. Food was lovely, pool area clean and comfortable. Polis is a lovely village with some great restaurants. We walked through to Latchi several times which was good but I am pleased we stayed in Polis. We loved the Bougainvillea so much we booked to return in June 25. We are counting the days until we are back.
We had a lovely stay here and Stavros and team were so welcoming and friendly. Stavros made a real effort to chat to everyone, he even got a smile out of our grumpy 14 year old. Tuie behind the bar was also lovely. The food is excellent too. The apartments are basic but had all we needed. The only downside was that the aircon is only on the first floor of the apartments so anyone sleeping downstairs is going to be very hot in the peak of summer. Location wise it's perfect, 5 minutes walk through the old campsite to a lovely quiet beach which you pretty much have to yourself with a very warm sea. (I recommend beach shoes as it's part rocky but still gorgeous). 5 minutes walk into the square which has plenty of bars and restaurants. There is a lovely restaurant just to the left of the apartments too. We got a 15 minute taxi ride to Latchi for a boat trip. It's probably walkable but not in the heat at this time of year. We found Polis more charming and authentic than Latchi, where all restaurants looks like same. Overall we had a lovely time and I recommend this great place!
My daughter and I have just had a wonderful 2 week holiday here. This was our first visit to Cyprus. We were welcomed after our long flight and transfer by Stavros with a cold drink and a cake. The apartments are spacious and very clean. We had everything we needed. The apartments are well situated in a quiet semi rural lane. We loved Polis. It has a lovely, chilled atmosphere about it. There are loads of restaurants, we didn't have time to try them all. We counted 6 ice cream parlours, very well used in the summer evenings. There is also an excellent bakery in the newer part of town. There are some gorgeous old honey coloured stone buildings in the town centre too and beautiful churches. We also visited the local archaeological museum which even my daughter found interesting. It is only 2 rooms and doesn't take long.
Most days we went to the beach. To Polis Municipal beach, it is about a 30 minute walk. You walk through the old campsite and this takes you to a beach with no amenities. Turn left and there is a path that takes you up to the main beach and right up to Latchi. The sunbeds are thickly padded and well spaced out and 2 beds and an umbrella cost 7 Euros 50. There is a restaurant on the beach and a regularly cleaned modern toilet block. I recommend water shoes as the shoreline is pebbly and it can be a challenge getting in and out the sea. There is a bus station in Polis with an easy to follow timetable for all the buses in the Paphos region. We used the buses quite a lot. They are very reliable. When visiting the beach, we took the bus and walked back. Each bus journey is a standard fare of 2 Euros. We also used the buses to visit Aphrodite's bath, Paphos Zoo, the Tombs of the Kings and Kings St Shopping Mall ( not all on the same day). A day ticket to use unlimited buses is 6 Euros 50. We also went on a very scenic sunset boat trip to the Blue Lagoon, water surprisingly cold but crystal clear.
We never go back to the same place twice, but we enjoyed this holiday so much, we have already booked to come back next year.
