Pros:

Quality of food (Dinner) was pathetic. Fish they served was stale and I returned it. and they charged Rs 1600/- for I bowl of rice aloo posto.

Location; as we had event to attend near by. It is a 5 star property so it’s like any other 5 star hotels. It is the location alone which is the reason to choose the hotel.

Cons:

Bathroom. The fittings are very old and not befitting the 5 star property. Same is true for lathe quality of linens.

Good clean hotel - Great Staff!
Pros:

The Lalit is a lovely hotel, with clean rooms, good value, great location, nice amenities, and clean food. I was there for 10 nights and have no notes on anything I would change or improve. But why I would really recommend staying at the Lalit is the staff.

From the doorman at the entrance, staff in the lobby, the housekeepers of my room, and the staff at the buffet - everybody genuinely seems happy to see you and give you the best experience they can offer.

What truly sets the Lalit apart from other hotels around the world is how incorporate adults with disabilities into the staff. It must be difficult for deaf people to find a respectful job, and the Lalit does this in spades.

Every day, going down for breakfast at the Alfresco, I was greeted by the entire kind staff and Amjad. Amjad is deaf, and proudly wears a pin telling you so. Although Amjad could not hear or speak, he was able to make me feel welcomed, happy, and well taken care of - being deaf did not make Amjad any worse at their job, in fact, it made him that much more attentive and in tune with my needs.

Rashid is also deaf; he cleaned my room expertly alongside Masum. Despite being deaf, Rashid and I had numerous communications, and his disability was never an issue.

Treating deaf people with respect and giving them prominent positions amongst your staff reflects really well on the hotel - and this was my favorite part about my stay at the Lalit. This is why I will recommend the Lalit to friends and family if they ever need a place to stay in Kolkata.

Best 5 Star Hotel in Calcutta

We had a wonderful stay at The LaLiT Great Eastern Kolkata. The hotel beautifully combines heritage charm with modern luxury, creating a truly memorable experience. The rooms were spacious, comfortable, impeccably clean, and equipped with everything needed for a relaxing stay.

One of the highlights was the breakfast buffet, which offered an excellent variety of delicious dishes catering to different tastes. The quality, freshness, and presentation of the food were outstanding.

A special mention goes to Mr. Amjad, who served us during breakfast. His warm hospitality, attentiveness, professionalism, and friendly demeanor made our dining experience even more enjoyable. He went above and beyond to ensure we were comfortable and well taken care of, and his service truly reflected the high standards of the hotel.
