The cottages were recently renovated and looking nice. Rooms were neat and clean. The beds & cupboards were basic but properly maintained. Beach is at just a walking distance 7 to 8 mins. We could get the 2 wheelers at the resort only, Thanks to the manager.
On our first visit to India we wanted to experience 'real India'
We chose Om Lake because of is Idyllic location on a lake frequented by Cormorants; Egrets, Kites; Kingfishers and we think a sea Eagle? We also were happy to choose a Bamboo hut for our base.
The location was Idyllic but maybe too basic for UK taste? The lake, like a lot of India has rubbish dumped in or on it, but was still brimming with wild-life. Unfortunately and not surprising wild-life also included rats that fed on the coconut trees and also naturally accessed the huts. The owner did his best but it was not possible to guarantee they wouldn't return again.
The owner and family are lovely and helpful, providing good food also, but I would imagine a lot of UK travellers would think this a step too far towards basic. We moved onto a beach hut in town after a few days and still had the experience we were looking for but in more comfortable but still very basic surroundings.
The hotel owner was pretty rude in talking and facilties are not good. No hot water in the shacks, need to carry from outside. Will not recommend anyone staying here
Nice and clean enviornment. Helping staff and owner is decent as i read previous review i was shocked.. and afraid of going there but when we reach there it was total different thing ..the food was amazing and tastes good.. if want to stay in a pleasant place then this the place.. go have the blast 4.5*rating for over all experience..
I arrived late due to a postponed flight- and my room wasn't ready, at 11pm, which I found strange seeing as check out time is 9am, so they had all day to sort my room.
Having said that, the staff were lovely- very friendly and accommodating. The young lad there (I think he was called Rajat) was really nice- and even gave me a lift to the beach on his motorbike. This was very useful, as it is a good 20 minute walk to the beach at least. I offered him some money for the journey, which he refused. I felt a bit isolated at the resort, as there were rarely any guests there in the daytime, and it's distance from the beach. However, if there is a few of you, it's a nice location and the staff were great.
