Quaint, Humble, Casual, Quiet
Pros:

This is a 2 star hotel. It doesn't claim to be fancy or have a ton of amenities. What it does have is an incredible ocean-front (different than beach-front) view and a great location to several eastern Puerto Rico attractions.
The facts: It is small, maybe 20 rooms? The rooms are simply decorated. The atmosphere is very casual. The front desk is not always staffed. Adults only. Pool is open 24/7, deepest at 5 feet. I'd describe the place as broken-in and a little gritty.
If you like new and shiny, this is probably not the place for you. Personally I would have liked the housekeeping to have been a little better. But if you value casual and quiet you will be satisfied here.
The back deck is the best feature. It is open 24/7. It is covered to protect from rain/sun and has plenty of seating. You can bring in your own food and drink and stay and enjoy the ocean rolling in for as long as you like. Or if you want solitude you could sit and read a book.
Coffee at the deck in the morning but food is not served. Location is about 45 minutes east of San Juan, 10 minutes from Luquillo Beach and the Kioskos, a row of local restaurants adjacent to the beach. 15 minutes to El Yunque and maybe 40 minutes to the ferry that takes people to Culebra and Viequez islands (Viequez has bio-bay tours). The staff is gracious. If you need a pool towel, ask. If you need more coffee on he back deck, ask. But don't expect someone to be there all the time to wait on you.
Again, aspects of this hotel are worn. If that bothers you, you might be happier elsewhere. But if you value quiet, casual and an AWESOME ocean view and would rather spend your money on doing stuff than sitting in a fancy hotel room, I'd recommend the Selva as a place to stay.

Lovely place
Pros:

Basic rooms but very clean. Perfect location, right on the water. Only 10 min walk to beach and kiosks. About 15 min drive to el Yunque. 40 min drive to bioluminescent bay at Fajado. The pool is lovely. Free parking. Nice staff

The view from the room was ok but the view from the back was outstanding. The staff was quick to respond. Paid for a 1PM check out and glad we did so we could relax from traveling.

Pros:

The hotel is walking distant to the beach. Restaurants and gift shops are walking distant, too. We enjoyed the pool, sitting on the oatio listening to the ocean.

Cons:

There wasnt much offered for breakfast- dried cereal, biscuits. Coffee was very good!
