Good location near a supermarket and it only takes 30min to go to Durbar square by walk.
You can do sightseeing as well as shopping between hotel to durbar square. Besides, the the room is clean and acceptable, the breakfast is good. I’m willing to stay the same hotel next time
The hotel itself is basic, but for the price and location I've zero complaints. The staff at the front desk are competent and friendly, I enjoyed breakfast whenever I had it and the daily yoga classes (that I always slept through - not a morning person) were well received by my more flexible associates.
There is a supermarket one minute away and Kathmandu Guesthouse, a very famous landmark, is right next door, so if you find yourself lost you'll have no issue getting directions.
We had a good stay for two nights before we went to the airport. It wasn't crowded so we got good service. The room was clean, the check in went quickly and I had no problems. I was happy to have hot water in the shower and sink. The Hotel has a nice courtyard and is down a side street off the main drag in the center of Thamal. There was music at a nearby restaurant but I got to sleep fine.
The breakfast was made to order and a great way to start the day.
The staff was friendly and helpful, truly, but the facilities left much to be desired. The toilet seat on the shared toilet was busted off and lying on the ground for the whole two days I was there, the carpets were stained, the blankets were too thin for the chilly night air, not all the light bulbs worked in my room--and those which did were such low wattage that it was hard even to read--the t.v. did not work, the bed was hard, and the electrical outlets were so loose that I had to hold my phone charger in place in order for it to work. Such a great concept--a yoga hotel!--but very in need of repairs and renovations.
Nice hostel. Great price. Didn’t actually get free breakfast as I thought was indicated on the hotels page but wasn’t a big deal. Free yoga sessions in the mornings though
Value for money and convenient location. Would come back next time
Incredible, warm staff in a hotel steps away from the action of Thamel District. Free Yoga classes were one of the highlights of staying in this hotel!
staff stayed late to deliver me a message, was always friendly, and very courteous; quiet and good neighborhood one block off a main tourist area. very nice
Great value for the price and the location in the middle of Thamel close to all the major shopping and restaurants as well as bars and a local grocery store for all the pre-trekking essentials.
great budget hotel, very friendly and helpful staff, rooms are basic but clean and comfortable.
Great location in center, but tucked away from hustle and bustle.
Have extended my stay for whole time in Kathmandu.
Quiet oasis in the heart of chaos.
Includes breakfast and morning yoga. I had a room with a bath for 12 US dollars. Great location in central Thamel. Relatively quiet.
Great and friendly staff, they would help you with anything you need. The hotel is ideal for backpackers with strict budget, rooms are not anything super extra (basically just a bed), but you forget about any inconevience after their GREAT breakfast :) The only thing that caused my disappointment were the power sockets working only at night (but this is probably caused by complicated power supplies situation in Nepal).
Had a good experience. Made few good friends. Breakfast is also nice. Yoga and meditation classes are free and really good.
Great location in the center of Thamel.Very basic but good value for the money. If you are a trekker and looking for a transition from the USA standard to Nepal Tea House standard...this is it. You can get it with breakfast included but do not expect it ready before 7 am.
Unbeatable location. Unbeatable. With a great Nepali/Tibetan restaurant just around the corner in the alleyway (not the one right outside the gate). Fantastic service all round from Raju and his team. Insightful yoga lessons free to guests.
I checked in at midnight. The room was quite small and linens were quite warn. No towels in the room on arrival. My bathroom window opened into the shared bathroom in the hallway. Consequently, there was noise til 2am and the same large group of travellers were up at 4am...very loud and disruptive for 3 hours. On the bright side, the courtyard is nice for dining and the shrine room for meditation is quite nice. The owner moved me to another hotel down the street (Acme Family Guest House) which was very nice with great staff and food...highly recommend this one. I stayed here for the week and was quite happy!
Great place - free yoga in the mornings and meditation Mon, Wed and Fri in the evenings and they are all fantastic. The breakfast was included, which just makes life easier - it's simple, but good. If you stay a few days (first I stayed 4 nights, then went to Namo Buddha and came back for another 5 nights) they remember you quickly, I barely had to say anything at breakfast; they know what I want! The reception (all staff) are really helpful - I got information on taxi rates, they organized a drop off and pick up taxi for me for Namo Buddha - the driver was great, locations of places, and one day internet wasn't working and I had to check email so they let me use their computer. In addition, one night I didn't realize it was so late and ordered dinner, but the kitchen was closed, but the staff still offered to make me a Nepali Thali, which was delicious. The location is good, it's "quiet" for Thamel, probably the quietest you'll get if you want to stay in this busy area, but it pays off because there are great places to eat really close by and/or places for wifi - I am a solo female traveler, so at night this was important and it was great to have that freedom! There are three places you have to eat if you stay here - the Nepali/Tibetan kitchen in the same alley (where are the bikes are parked) and get the Thukpa!, Pumpernickel Bakery and Ork2 Falafel stand! The bed was comfy, wifi is pretty good for Nepal, and hot water and electricity works when you need it.
The positives of the hotel are that it has a meditation room attached to it, and the hotel was kind enough to allow me access to it twice a day. Also, the hotel's location is great - right near the supermarket but away from most noise. Of course live music still filled the night and I had to wear ear plugs, but it wasn't coming from next door. The bed was comfortable.
The negatives unfortunately were many more: the yoga teacher was not good. In my ten day stay I saw many people come for one session and never come again. There were lots of leg lifts and sit ups but hardly any yoga poses. Don't come for the yoga. NO HOT WATER after two cloudy days because it's only solar-heated. The breakfast was blah - much better fare to be found at Northfield's. The room was not cleaned once during my stay. Not the sheets, towels, garbage basket, bathroom - nothing. The room continually smelled musty. I had an attached bathroom and through it's window I could hear everything in the common bathroom. Everything. As if it were happening in the room.
