Our one-night stay at Park Hyatt New York on July 10, 2026, was the perfect start to a once-in-a-lifetime family trip celebrating a milestone birthday for our son. From New York, we would continue on to Germany, Austria, Jordan, and Egypt, and we wanted the first hotel of the journey to be special. Park Hyatt New York exceeded our expectations in nearly every way.
Despite having no Hyatt status, the hotel recognized the significance of our family celebration and upgraded us from a standard room to a high-floor city-view room, just below the suite and pool levels. The thoughtful gesture immediately set the tone for our stay. A surprise delivery of chocolate-covered strawberries to mark the occasion made the celebration even more memorable.
A special thank you to the member of the in-house reservations team who assisted us prior to arrival. While I unfortunately cannot remember their name, they took a sincere interest in our family's celebration and went above and beyond to ensure our stay started on the right note. Exceptional hospitality often begins long before check-in, and this was a perfect example of that. As guests with no Hyatt elite status, we were particularly impressed by the level of recognition and care we received throughout our stay. We genuinely felt treated like valued long-term guests rather than first-time visitors.
The room itself was exceptional. Entry-level rooms at the Park Hyatt are among the largest you'll find in New York City and felt more like a junior suite than a standard room. The décor was elegant, contemporary, and understated, creating a true sense of residential luxury. The bathroom was absolutely stunning, featuring an oversized rain shower, generous space, and high-end finishes throughout. It is easily one of the most impressive hotel bathrooms we have experienced. We also enjoyed a partial Central Park view, which was about as good as one could hope for from this room category.
What truly elevated the stay, however, was the service. We needed refrigeration for medication and called the hotel around 12:30 a.m., expecting a solution the following morning. To our surprise, a dedicated refrigerator was delivered to our room within 30 minutes. Having a team respond so efficiently in the middle of the night is exactly the kind of thoughtful service that distinguishes great luxury hotels.
The front-of-house team on ground floor deserves special recognition. Every interaction was warm, professional, and genuinely welcoming. They were the first faces we saw upon arrival and the last to wish us farewell, serving as true ambassadors for the Park Hyatt brand. Their attentiveness and genuine hospitality made us feel looked after from the moment we arrived until the moment we departed.
Another standout was the indoor pool. The space is breathtaking, with soaring ceilings and a tranquil atmosphere that photographs simply cannot do justice. It is one of the most beautiful indoor hotel pools we have ever seen and is worth experiencing even during a short stay.
The concierge team was equally impressive. Acting on their recommendation, we visited a nearby Thai restaurant that turned out to be excellent and one of the highlights of our brief time in the city.
No hotel is perfect, and we did encounter a service issue during lunch in the restaurant. What impressed me the most was the quality of the service recovery. The management team listened, acknowledged the issue, and took action to make things right. Luxury hotels are not defined by the absence of mistakes but by how they respond when things go wrong. Park Hyatt handled the situation exactly as a world-class property should.
Highlights of our stay:
Outstanding recognition of a special family occasion
Thoughtful pre-arrival service from the reservations team
Complimentary upgrade despite having no Hyatt elite status
Exceptional service from the front of the house team and guest services team
Spacious, beautifully designed rooms
One of the most beautiful indoor pools we have experienced
A late-night request for medication refrigeration handled flawlessly
Excellent concierge recommendations
Would we return? Absolutely, in a heartbeat.
Park Hyatt New York delivered the perfect combination of luxury, comfort, and genuine hospitality. From the thoughtful pre-arrival attention to the room upgrade, birthday recognition, outstanding service, and remarkable facilities, every aspect of the stay reflected a hotel that truly cares about its guests. It was a wonderful way to begin a milestone family journey and left us with memories that will long outlast our one-night stay. Highly recommended!
Excellent visit to the Park Hyatt. This was a new hotel for and we will be returning. The hotel was clean and had a newer feeling. Hallways and doorways were clean and inviting.
As a loyal World of Hyatt Globalist member, I have always regarded Park Hyatt as one of my favorite luxury hotel brands, which is why I had very high expectations for my stay at Park Hyatt New York.
Unfortunately, my stay did not begin as expected. After returning to the hotel in the afternoon, I discovered that my original room had an extremely strong chemical odor, making it uncomfortable to stay inside. After spending nearly an hour hoping the smell would improve, I eventually requested a room change. The hotel promptly upgraded me to a beautiful Deluxe Suite, which I sincerely appreciated. However, the inconvenience of unpacking, moving rooms, and the disappointing first impression could not be completely undone.
There were also a few service issues during my stay, including a promised follow-up that never arrived and another situation that fell below the standards I have come to expect from the Park Hyatt brand.
What truly impressed me, however, was not the problem itself, but the way the management team handled it afterwards. After I shared my experience through Hyatt's guest survey, the hotel carefully reviewed every concern, acknowledged each issue without making excuses, communicated with professionalism and sincerity, and provided a meaningful service recovery that demonstrated genuine care for their guests.
Every hotel can experience unexpected problems. What distinguishes a truly great luxury hotel is how it responds when things do not go as planned. In my opinion, Park Hyatt New York ultimately demonstrated that commitment by taking responsibility, listening carefully, and restoring my confidence in the brand.
I would especially like to thank Suzanne and the management team for their professionalism, kindness, and dedication to guest satisfaction.
Despite the disappointing beginning, I would gladly return to Park Hyatt New York in the future, and I continue to consider Park Hyatt one of the finest luxury hotel brands in the world.
Pros:
Outstanding Lobby Staff:5 stars for the exceptionally kind tan gentleman working on the lowest lobby floor! He was so friendly and provided truly great service.
Excellent Room Service: 5 stars for the room service team. The attendant taking orders was extremely professional, and delivery timing and service were consistently flawless.
Great Layout:The rooms are spacious and well-appointed.
Cons:
For a 5-star property, both cleanliness and check-in efficiency fell far short of expectations. Check-in was delayed until 5:00 PM, something I’ve never experienced at a hotel before, let alone one rated 5 stars. Worse, the room’s cleanliness was unacceptable: there was a lip stain on the mirror, peeling bathroom counters, and a concerning, unidentified residue on the bathroom wall that looked like blood or bodily fluid. Since we were leaving early the next morning, we opted to avoid that area rather than go through the hassle of moving rooms, but it was revolting and a serious hygiene concern. The housekeepers themselves were so friendly and kind, but perhaps the hotel needs to hire more housekeepers to allow them more time to deep clean and not have to rush cleaning each room.
Overall, an amazing experience. I did, however, think that if I would have booked with Chase points and not move the points from Chase to the Hayat member, I would have got better value, but that is just an individual thing. The location is amazing. The rooms are a large for New York and very comfortable. The only annoying thing that I can mention is that there are two elevators to get to your room. You need to go up from the entrance to the lobby then another elevator to the rooms
Another excellent stay! Staff are all very friendly, professional & warm. We had a large suite which was very comfortable & relaxing. Housekeeping did a great job in the morning & during turn down. We only had drinks in the restaurant once, no food. Pool is beautiful, spacious & relaxing. Valet & all the bellmen were very friendly & happy to help. Aktar in the lobby was kind and friendly everyday, made our stay special. Thank you again for a great stay!
I had an incredible time at the park Hyatt in New York City just a few blocks from Central Park and the excellent shopping on fifth Avenue.
The staff were warm and inviting. The accommodations were more than comfortable. The food prepared at the on-site restaurant was high-quality and delicious!
This hotel uses misleading billing practices online and in person be VERY CAREFUL. If you book with points beware, they will not show you the full dollar amount of the stay and will not review this upon check in as well. Upon check out you will find the points were not applied (or were an actually an upgrade) and you will be charged the full amount of the stay plus taxes (4 days on the order of 8k USD). They will email this to you so you can’t dispute in person. I understand this is an expensive hotel but you must see the full cost of the stay and agree to it before booking or checking in. They make it seem like a points booking when in fact it’s not really. Based on the actions of this hotel it’s clear they are aware of their billing practice which is why they don’t share or review the full bill with you upfront. BE VERY CAREFUL or just stay elsewhere that treats you fairly and with respect.
Great hotel - awesome location on 57th right near the park and close to lots of other great shops and restaurants. Rooms are a great size for NYC and the pool is fantastic.
Gorgeous room, gorgeous bathroom…with le labo products. Great hotel & obviously ideal location, however, noise from the streets can be heard clearly, even on high floors. For that reason, I had to rank it lower.
This was, without a doubt, the best hotel stay we've ever experienced! From the warm welcome at check-in to the luxurious accommodations, every detail exceeded our expectations. Every smile, every interaction and every act of service made us feel truly valued throughout our stay. It was an unforgettable experience, and we can't wait to return!
The Park Hyatt NYC is a beautiful property with excellent customer service. My husband and I were very pleased with our stay and would recommend it to those who can afford it, as it is quite pricey.
The operations of this Park Hyatt is impeccable. The rooms are solid, the bathrooms are luxe and the staff is professional yet friendly. Location is a stone’s throw from Central Park and the subway station. Convenient, luxurious, comfortable. The best!
Another perfect stay at the Park Hyatt thanks to the amazing staff, delicious food and spectacular room. We look forward to our next stay already! Thank you Park Hyatt for making our trip to NYC perfect.
Great hotel - clean and luxurious with a fantastic location
Knowing that the Hyatt points devaluation was impending, I finally took the opportunity to try out the flagship PH property, and I'm glad I did.
Having just visited the newly opened Park Hyatt Marrakech, I told the associate at check-in and she upgraded me to a one-bedroom suite, which was much appreciated. The room consisted of a powder room, a living room with a work desk, and a separate bedroom. The ensuite bathroom had a tub, 2 sink vanity, and separate enclosed shower and toilet. Toiletries were Le Labo Bergamot. (*Bonus, you can go to the Le Labo shop on Madison Ave and show your room key to receive a complimentary discovery set!)
Globalist breakfast was had in-room where the highlight dish was the lobster omelette.
The fitness center was nice and had great cardio machines, including Peloton bikes and rowing machine. The free weight section was a bit lacking in space and equipment, though. The views from the fitness center overlooking Central Park were the best. The pool was nice, but on a rainy day everyone and their children were in there which took away from any semblance of a relaxing respite. I had to wake up very early to get a lane to myself for lap swimming which lasted maybe 30 minutes before families and children arrived.
Location was excellent, just a couple of blocks from Central Park, across from Carnegie Hall, and numerous subway stations.
Overall, the PH flagship lives up to its reputation (for better or for worse). You get the biggest space you can for a hotel room in NYC with top-tier service. While international PHs are unmatched, the NY flagship does try convincingly well.
All around amazing experience. Staff was attentive, friendly, and thoughtful throughout our stay! Our 12 year old daughter left spoiled, as did we!
Hotel is a great five star experience with a glaring exception.
It seems it has turned into a Hyatt Globalist Family entertainment retreat.
The “living room” restaurant described by Hyatt as “ambience of a Central Park residence.”…is basically overrun with family’s with children and their typical behavior at breakfast. It’s not at lunch or dinner bc the globalists would have to pay and they don’t want to do that.
The pool is constantly overrun, by same families who each seem to have six young kids creating anything but a relaxing environment. The website says the pool is “tranquil spa pool offers a sensory rest from the energy of New York. Dip into the warm water surrounded by sleek design and natural light, and enjoy the sounds of Carnegie Call with a specially curated underwater playlist. Whether for a refreshing swim or a peaceful retreat, this modern oasis redefines urban relaxation.”
The pool is anything but this.
I thought it maybe was just weekends, but it was like this on a monday as well.
The rooms are fantastic, but frankly the lovely pool is basically unappealing for adults seeking relaxation and the idea of enjoying the living room in the morning over a nice coffee is a non starter.
The living room was nice in the evening. Despite multiple attempts at different hours the pool was never in a state where one could just chill and relax in the space
The rooms are fantastic.
After a frustrating effort just to receive the room type shown on my Hyatt app reservation, I was “upgraded” to a “Central Park” Suite. Once I entered the room, it was obvious this was a dishonest workaround to avoid providing the suite I had actually expected.
Before that, the staff even tried to charge me for the room type that was already showing in the app and was still showing while I was at the front desk! The amount of gaslighting was impressive.
The “Central Park Suite” had no respectable view whatsoever. Instead, it looked directly into neighboring office windows, with zero privacy. It was also much smaller and lacked specific amenities that I had anticipated in the suite booked. Sadly, the problem was not limited to the front desk. Management was deceptive as well, pretending not to know the room layouts when I brought this to their attention.
Only after I brought up finding a copy of the hotel’s room floor plans to management did I receive a laughable points adjustment. Given Hyatt's recent points changes, management knows exactly what that adjustment was worth.
The hotel may look impressive from a marketing standpoint, but the actual guest experience is inconsistent at best. You may or may not receive anything close to a five-star stay, and you should not count on meaningful recognition as a Hyatt member or branded cardholder.
Thankfully, I booked this suite with points. But points or cash, I would strongly recommend looking at other luxury hotels in New York City that actually value the guest experience.
(Post-stay, I also learned that the manager who claimed to be “unaware” of the room layout has worked in management at this hotel for nearly four years…)
