Great hotel, but ultimately it depends on what you’re looking for from your Mallorca stay.
We really enjoyed our stay at Castell Son Claret. The hotel design is beautiful, and the property has a wonderful sense of character and tranquility. Breakfast was excellent, and the service in the restaurants was consistently very good. Sa Clastra, the hotel’s Michelin-starred restaurant, was a particular highlight and a memorable dining experience. The spa was also very nice and added to the overall feeling of relaxation.
There were, however, a couple of things that kept it from being a 9 or 10/10 for me.
First, the arrival experience could be better. When we arrived, there was no one at the entrance to welcome us or assist with our luggage. I had to park the car and go inside to check in before someone eventually came out to help. For a hotel of this level, I would expect a more seamless and attentive arrival.
The hotel’s location is also quite secluded. While this is part of its charm, the road back to the hotel isn’t the easiest, particularly at night when parts of the road have very little or no lighting.
My biggest disappointment, however, was the gym. Given the size, architecture and overall standard of the property, I expected a much better fitness facility. Unfortunately, the gym is very small and has minimal equipment, which was a letdown for me.
Overall, Castell Son Claret is a beautiful hotel with excellent restaurants, great service, a lovely spa and fantastic design. I would recommend it if you’re looking for a peaceful, secluded luxury escape in Mallorca. However, if having a well-equipped gym, easy access to the surrounding area, or a more polished arrival experience is important to you, there are some shortcomings to consider.
The hotel was lovely and very well maintained. The areas for breakfast and dinner were beautiful and the pool was lovely. We enjoyed both restaurants although the Michelin starred restaurant had a quite a long and complicated set menu so would not plan to eat there more than once. Everyone was asking to take dessert away! The bar was nice and the service from the bar manager and breakfast manager was excellent but this was in contrast to reception and some waiting staff.
The service was very mixed and this definitely affected our stay. The 'welcome' was cold and indifferent and we had to show ourselves around the hotel, ask about meal timings, spa facilities etc. When we asked reception staff to arrange a taxi to eat elsewhere one evening it was difficult to do and when it did not arrive, staff were not interested in helping or following up. There were a few very lovely staff, including the bar manager and a young porter who helped us with our luggage on the last day, but these stood out as overall the service was well below expectations for a hotel like this.

Coffee machine: cheap imitations of Nespresso capsules. You would not expect that in a 5 star hotel
Restaurant: apparently two stars - would not go there another time
The property was beautiful! It was a bit isolated, and there was nothing walkable, but it was absolutely breathtaking
I wish that there were shops and restaurants within walking distance. Everything involved driving.
