If you prefer this hotel without WIFI its OK. If so they should decrease the charging rate.
Pros:

Staffs were friendly and nice. They always help on every concern at their level.

Cons:

I felt a bit uncomfortable on the first day and on another day at the main restaurant. I saw lots of small ants running on the fresh fruit bowl.
And the hotel WIFI worked only 2 days. The reception staffs help to solve it. They did solved it but on the very next day same issue poped up. I raised my concerns to reception but this time it was not solved.
And during the first ocassion my son received a message saying to pay some lanka rupees 2000 for WIFI usage. We showed it the reception and they also got surprised. And told its a mistske. So the last 3 days of my stay at the hotel, we were using over mobile data.

Friendly ,comfortable, helpful and good introduction to Colombo
Pros:

The staff were wonderful and helpful, breakfast was great and the chef was very attentive and concern we have a great stay. The pool was very refreshing and large, the water was perfect temp. Front desk lady was very friendly and helpful. We left at 5am to catch train, the chef packed us a lunch for the trip
Try Cafe 97 on the same street…excellent food great selections

Cons:

It was a 20 min tuk tuk ride to all the attractions..a bit removed…the building is older and rooms could be upgraded..
We arrived at 2am and they were not ready for us and the room had no towels, soap or blankets on the bed…got straightened out the next day. They need a night clerk on duty, only security guards on the premises at night.

Stale Food served at the buffet
Pros:

i visit this hotel every now and then and its a nice place all together.
since lately the management has taken over new consultants and a Chef who is spoiling the atmosphere. On a cost effective note the new chef seems to be displaying and serving stale old food from previous days cooking at the buffets specially the morning breakfast. i heard from internal sources of the kitchen that this new chef collects the previous days left over food and mixes it with his bare hands and then stores it in bowls in refrigeration and then heats it the next day and serves it to the guests as a buffet spread. This is bad and i ended up with severe tummy pains on several days during my stays Be careful of the food. The chef is a sweet talker.

Hotel JANAKI - pleasant experience
Pros:

Upon arrival, the receptionist was very helpful and pleasant.
The staff working at the JANAKI are respectful and happy people, creating a positive environment with their guests.
The hotel bar serves lion lager and their range of products in the bar fridge, so plenty to choose from.
The breakfast was very tasty, a fish curry, veg fried rice, lentil dhal, potato curry, coconut sambo and variety of pastries were well-cooked, delicately spiced and palatable to metabolise in the morning.
The staff were very kind and accommodating.
The chef welcomes his guests and is proud to show you his home-cooked delicacies.
Overall very happy with our stay at the JANAKI. Thanks JANAKI!

It is an excellent hotel for budget travellers.
Pros:

I liked the location and the very nice manager and staff. Breakfast was basic but was okay for the price. Rooms have no WiFi at all and rooms and bathrooms need refurbishing. They were generous with tea, coffee and bottles of water supplied in the room. If they refurbish and modernise the hotel, it will turn out to be very nice considering the location.
However it is good value for money.

Cons:

Floorcoverings are dilapidated, and in the bathroom grout between tiles are mouldy. they also should improve the bed linnen. the good manager, friendly staff and the good location compensates for the drawbacks.

Pros:

I was impressed by all of the staff within the hotel, even when i asked if they could organize hiring a vehicle for the evening they were able to arrange everything... and have to mention about room, it was clean & nice place to have a comfort sleep.
