There was no ice
The location was convenient distance for sightseeing from downtown San Jose. It was also reasonable distance from convenient store, Dennys and McDonalds. Also laundry room is walking distance from room.
When my daughter and I first got there we were exhausted from a long drive with terrible traffic and fog on freeway that increased my expected drive by 3 hours. We were so happy to finally just rest and quickly unpacked our stuff for the night as it might have been 10 pm. We were content with things and just wanted to sleep but after about 30 minutes of relaxing there was a terrible odor we realized was coming from the shower. I was so exhausted I almost just tried to ignore it but it was so strong even with the door closed. I opened the bathroom door to look and there was a small amount of sewage water (yes what appeared to be feces) in the shower and we hadn’t even flushed the towel yet. It was flushed in another room that was connected. I know this because I could hear it right before we smelled and could see the plumbing issue. Next, even though I was too exhausted to pack everything back up again I HAD to call the front desk. I explained that there was evidence of feces in the shower with a really bad smell where I literally had to open the front door as the smell just got worse. The front desk didn’t understand until I simplified myself by saying Poop. He finally understood and looked to see what else was available. He offered what would be an upgrade of 2 beds and a tub at no extra charge so we agreed even though we were exhausted. We figured the upgrade would make up for the inconvenience and really tried to stay positive about a not so ideal experience. When we got to the new room it was better(ish). It didn’t look ideally clean but I think it was not expected to be used and I don’t think there was any housekeeping workers until daytime. ( I confirmed that by speaking to the only one working there the next day when I was asking for shampoo or conditioners + which she also confirmed they didn’t offer. Only little bar soaps were offered. She was very polite and nice though).
