Excellent hotel and world class service
Absolutely 10/10. Service, place, energy. Superb level. No complain.
Casa Malca is beautifully located and offers an amazing view from the rooms. The resort itself is very attractive, with beach loungers that are more like beach beds, plenty of palm trees, and a truly pleasant atmosphere. A big advantage is that the hotel is built on a dune, which means beach vendors cannot approach guests as aggressively as they do at Nomade.
The front desk and concierge work flawlessly and efficiently. In fact, I would say the gentlemen working there operate above standard and genuinely make guests feel welcome and comfortable. As an example, when I mentioned that there was no television in my room, they actually brought a TV to the room for me, which I found very thoughtful.
The main downside is the service on the beach and during breakfast, which is, unfortunately, typically weak by Mexican standards. I understand that everyone can have a better or worse day, but at Casa Malca, whenever I asked for something, it felt like a roulette: a 50% chance it would be delivered and a 50% chance it would be forgotten. Strictly speaking, this should lower my rating to 4 stars. However, doing so would unfairly reduce the hotel’s overall score on TripAdvisor, because Casa Malca is clearly a better hotel than Nomade or Be Tulum, despite having similar service issues in this area.
An additional advantage is the location: Casa Malca is very close to the parties at Nomade, only about 150 meters away, yet the loud music from those events cannot be heard inside the rooms, which is a big plus.
If someone is hesitating between Be Tulum, Nomade, or Casa Malca, Casa Malca is by far the most beautiful option. The place looks truly paradisiacal.
Not what I expected for a high end hotel. For the price I found too many problems here although the beach is beautiful and property unique. Most hotels want repeat guests as that really illustrates how people really liked the property. If I were to stay in Tulum again I would probably look for another property. 1) the service is very inconsistent sometimes not that attentive as you have to ask several times to get something done or sometimes they outright forget 2) a big thing for us is the music…here it’s that annoying same beat bass club music. For us it wasn’t peaceful and downgraded the hotel to just another typical Tulum beach club energy…something we want to avoid…especially for the price. 3) the food we found to also be very overpriced even by nyc standards.4) rooms are dark and dimly lit but that was ok to deal with I guess. So bottom line…ok if you stay here once but doubt it will be a regular place for us which is a shame.
Locatie is goed
Hotel heeft renovatie nodig
Service is traag
We've travelled to Tulum every year for the last 7 years and stayed in many different hotels, Airbnbs and etc. This was our first time at Casa Malca and we had an exceptional time. Everyone from the front desk (Yair), to Clemente at the beach club and Daniel at the restaurant made our stays beyond exceptional. Service and attention to detail was amazing. Daily check-ins with fast responses. Rooms were also large, great showers and water pressure, comfortable, etc.
Casa Malca is the best in Tulum and would be our only home when we return back.
Mucho Gracias to everyone. We truly appreciate your kindness and exceptional customer service.
I loved the aesthetic of the property. The employees were extremely friendly and I felt completely safe.
Everything was exceptional
Konum oda büyüklüğü
The overall property is luxurious while preserving the authenticity of its natural environment. Quiet, peaceful, decorated with a sense of style and design, Casa Malca offers a true experience for a perfect getaway with great sense of hospitality and service.
We stayed at Casa Malca in a large two-story suite, and the room was easily the highlight of our experience. It was incredibly spacious and worked perfectly for our family of three. Each floor had a full bathroom and its own seating area, giving everyone plenty of room to spread out. The beds were very comfortable with lots of pillows and a high-quality mattress. The décor was a bit underwhelming—minimal furniture and some modern artwork—though the overall comfort and layout made up for it.
The bathroom was excellent, featuring a large overhead shower with a handheld option and perfect water pressure and temperature control. Surprisingly, the suite only had one sink, but it wasn’t a major inconvenience. The rooftop was huge, and also surprisingly empty—no furniture or shade to make it usable. It felt like a missed opportunity, but again, the suite still felt like a 5-star space based on comfort and size alone.
Service throughout the hotel was attentive and friendly. The breakfast team was fantastic, and the beach staff were warm, helpful, and consistently went out of their way to take care of us. The beach itself was incredible this time of year: no seaweed, warm water, and beautifully maintained with plenty of space - some of the other hotels like Nomade were very crowded. So if you like a more peaceful beach experience then casa malca is a plus. The hotel grooms the beach and grounds constantly, keeping everything pristine.
Casa Malca doesn’t have quite the same jungle-immersed vibe as places like Be Tulum or Nomade, but it does have its own charm—with striking modern art throughout the property and clean, manicured landscaping. There are a few small opportunities for improvement, such as upgrading some of the outdoor furniture or adding small finishing touches (for example, providing matches when they offer incense).
The biggest downside was the pricing at the restaurants. Even by Tulum standards, the on-site dining was extremely overpriced—much higher than nearby restaurants that are already on the expensive side. It was the only part of the stay that felt out of balance.
There’s also some construction on the side of the property- not a huge deal but worth noting. Looks like they have a few months to go on it.
Overall, Casa Malca delivered a luxurious and memorable experience with standout service, a fantastic beach, and exceptionally comfortable accommodations. With a few tweaks, it could be truly exceptional.
Direct access to the beach
Comfortable room
Good amenities (gym, padel court on the roof, yoga class, volleyball)
Friendly staff.
Breakfast was okay but not worth the price. Buffet just on the weekends. All other days à la carte and you can just choose one of each otherwise there will be additional costs.
They charge you TIP for breakfast unless you say you don’t want to and have to sign that.
Property is a bit long in the tooth.
You can’t not be impressed with the art and beauty of the entire hotel, every part is stunning. But what is even more impressive is the outstanding level of service, the staff by the beach beds could not do enough to please you. So many small, lovely touches, cold towels, cleaning sunglasses it really made our stay so special and we can’t wait to return. We’ve stayed in many hotels in Tulum and this was our favourite by miles. Amazing work and amazing team/staff
