Categories

Cleanliness
5
Multiple reviews report foul-smelling/old carpets, dirty pool/jacuzzi, malodorous towels and overall cleanliness issues; several guests explicitly call the hotel 'not very clean' or note odors.
Service
9
Service is frequently praised: staff described as very friendly, present even for late arrivals and attentive; a minority mention an unfriendly receptionist, but overall sentiment is strongly positive.
Location
9.5
Clear strength in the reviews: many guests highlight the central location, walking distance to the centre and proximity to bus station; a few note it feels a bit isolated from the highway but overall location sentiment is very positive.
Room Quality
7.5
Rooms are described as comfortable with good beds and spacious layouts, but the property is ageing: worn carpets, older fixtures and limited TV channels are recurring complaints.
Amenities
6
Amenities are mixed: pleasant grounds, garden and pool area noted, but several mentions of dirty or out-of-service pool/jacuzzi, limited parking and some broken items (hairdryer, fridge) reduce the score.
Value for Money
8.5
Several guests explicitly state the price/quality or value is good for Costa Rica prices and call the hotel 'adequate' for the price despite its age, supporting a positive value rating.
Food and Beverage
6.5
Mixed feedback: some praise the buffet breakfast and variety, others complain it is limited, repetitive and uses powdered juice (no fresh orange juice); service speed for food/drinks was also criticized in a few reviews.
Overall Experience
9.6
Despite maintenance and cleanliness issues, many guests enjoyed the comfortable rooms, welcoming staff, great location and pleasant grounds, producing an overall positive stay impression.

Pésima atención al check-in. Señor descortés y molesto en sus formas
Pros:

La cama era muy cómoda. El baño cumplió también.

Cons:

El trato del señor que hace check-in de noche es terrible. Desde que entramos se veía molesto, descortés y en general completamente ausente de algún tipo de buen servicio al cliente. Irrespetuoso.

Hotel viejo y sin mantenimiento.
Pros:

Ubicación

Cons:

Aire acondicionado viejo y MUY ruidoso. Instalaciones viejas sin renovar, parece un hotel que se quedó en los 80s. Mosquitos en la habitación. El ruido de los autos pasando no deja dormir. Alfombrado viejo y sucio. Desayuno pobre y con MUY pocas opciones. Parqueo oscuro, incómodo y tétrico.

The hotel is good but please fix the room WiFi
Pros:

The staff were very friendly. The restaurant food was decent. The rooms were large and the bed was comfortable.

Cons:

The WiFi in the rooms was unreliable. You always had to switch between access points, and sometimes you could not get a signal. There was one of the various access points that could not be accessed although it had the strongest signal.
