AVOID AMBER RESIDENCE AT ALL COST.

First impression: dirty & run down. The hotel workers are slow and lazy. None of TVs in the rooms work. Water starts & stops. Air Conditioning busted on second night. Couldn't sleep in the heat. They changed my room to another that had a box spring for a mattress. The springs dug into my tibs and back. Couldn't sleep again.

Room safe hinge busted. Door handle falling off. The stairs to the rooms are steep. Garbage in hallway. Staff too lazy to clean rooms. Have to beg them to do it multipe times.

Spoke with owner, Jean-Phillip on the last night. He said the mattress is just firm. I took him to my room, no.45. to show him. He pressed on the mattress and acknowleged it's just a box spring but didn't offer to do anything about it.

The owner simply dismissed all the issues by proclaiming his hotel is the cheapest near Patong Beach. I told him if i knew air conditioning doesn't work and i have to sleep on.a box spring, i would never book the room. He shrugs and went back to his bottles of wine in the lobby.

I filed multiple complaints with Expedia. As of now, no results nor resolution.


Amber Residence is a fraud. The front desk photo on Expedia is fake. Amber and its staff are the singular worst nightmare of Patong Beach. Stay there at your own peril.

There was a very rude reception and hotel owner. The rooms were clean but the woman at the reception was very rude and so was the hotel owner, a European gentleman.

Wir waren nur für eine Nacht dort als wir in Thailand ankamen und das hat auch vollkommen gereicht. Die Klimaanlage war sehr laut, so dass man kaum schlafen konnte. Bei unserer Ankunft fragten wir wie der TV funktioniert. Die Antwort kurz und bündig: der ist kaputt. Das Frühstück war leider nicht gerade top, obwohl sich das Personal sehr Mühe gegeben hat einen Teller vorzubereiten.

On arrival, told me my room would be 10 mins. After waiting 45 mins was told there was no room.
Contacted Expedia, they contacted motel, then motel found me a room in a motel down the road.

Kind of dirty, no elevator. Pretty overpriced compared to others. Would not recommend

I am limited in walking and it was not written that the room is on the 4th floor without an elevator, after I asked they gave me a room on the 3rd floor, I went to take a nap and there was constant noise every 5 minutes for 3 hours so I asked to vacate, I called the hotel owner who said it was not his problem and he is not returning the money, insolently He hung up on me! In addition, when I came back from dinner at night, the hotel was locked and there was no one to talk to. I looked for help for an hour. The workers doesent speak engliah and doesnt Read a translation, very frustrating, the balcony faces a wall, the place is very noisy and old, very not recommended!!

My mate and I went there today to grab a quick lunch. Turned out the lunch wasn’t going to be a quick grab. A huge sign “no smoke - fine 2000 baht” with the owner smoking a cigarette at the table next to us. The food arrived with a warm sprite and fries more cold than the drink.

Phuket and Pattong is great as long as you stay away from here(;

Nice rooms, next to a beach

Номера очень чистые, уборка в номере каждый день, местоположение-отличное, пляж в 3 минутах, рядом много кафе, супермаркетов, хозяин отеля всегда готов помочь и доброжелателен. Номера не большие, лифта нет, но это полезно подниматься пешком.

Staff and owner are great. Rooms are clean and location is a 2 min walk to patong beach. And they rent motorbikes 👍

The staff was great the owner is just a great guy, location is perfect, and on my last day I realized they rent motorbikes. That is a must do. Rooms are clean well kept and comfy. And food is good too. It’s off the noisy Bangla area but close enough to walk if you choose. Highly recommend

Nice and clean rooms. One minute walk to a beach. They also have a restaurant with great Italian food made the real Italian way.

At check in time, was told that reservation was cancelled by Expedia. After suggesting that we both call Expedia together, owner became cooperative, and "did me a favor". I got room 45. Balcony was 1 meter by 2 meters, faced wall of next building, that was 1 meter away. The room was noisy. Owner tried to blame next building, but inside wall was shaking. Some pump went off every 30-45 seconds with a thud. Slept 3 hours each night. Room looked modern. But owner is either playing games or just does not read his bookings too well.

We stayed at Amber Residence for 9 nights during our stay in phuket on December 2018. The place was clean and everything was provided for (clean towels, toilet and shower essentials and bottled water every day). When we arrived everything was ready and no delays. We arrived there around early afternoon and the owner, Oscar, was waiting for us. When we checked out it was 1 am, so that's also possible, Oscar is very accommodating. Oscar is probably the highlight of this place. He was very helpful, he provided us with anything we asked (reasonably) and he even helped us book the best island tours. He is also very friendly and makes conversation regularly. We booked the room for 3 people and it was exactly as advertised. It was big and airy and the air conditioning worked perfectly. The shower and toilet were great and roomy. There was a big closet and a fridge and some cupboards. As I understood all the rooms are in the top floors, as the bottom floor is used for the restaurant facilities. Rooms are not very easily accessible for people with disabilities, as there are only stairs to the floors above. A couple of things that were kind of bothersome:
1. The room is on top of the very busy main road of patong beach so there is always a lot of noise from traffic, so be prepared to use earplugs or earphones to sleep.
2. The staff don't really speak any English so it is hard to communicate sometimes but Oscar was there most of the time to make sure everything was understood.

All in all I would say that this place is one of the best to stay at patong beach and definitely recommend it.

We had a really pleasant stay at Amber residence! The owner named Oscar was an excellent Profesional and he did for us everything that was possible to make our vacations perfect! He helped us with everything even book taxis and island tours in really good prices! The breakfast wasn't fancy but it was really good. Also the Italian foods that they make to their restaurant is brilliant, we had lazagnia and I totally recommend if you stay there to taste it. Only two negatives : there was traffic noise in the night and they need to renew their towels. But these 2 things must not keep you away from booking there. It was totally worth it! Thank you Oscar for everything and hope to see you again!!!!

The place is near everything in Patong so the location is great. The rooms comfortable even for 3 persons with big bathroom. Although the best thing about this residence is the owner, Oscar! He just will help you with everything if you just ask him! He knows the best professionals for boat tours, taxi service, elephant visiting, about everything! We booked everything through him and to very good prices. He is also willing to solve at the time every problem you might have with the accommodation (exp. We run out of bath soap he give us right away) Good breakfast, not fansy but nice. Very good Italian plates on the menu. The only problem you might find it will be the fact that is a little bit noisy the road at night but not from bars, just from the cars passing. And last they must renew the towels. But Oscar's hospitality passes through every negative. Thank you Oscar and Claudia!
