Overall excellent as lovely old building conveniently located. Food very good.
A one night stop off to break up longer journey. Chose based on age and history. And because of this the room was very aged and old fashioned decor. Quite dusty around carpet edges. Family room is large & spacious but right in the attic. Difficult if you have mobility issues. / prams etc. and the heat was overbearing. Couldn’t get old fashioned windows to stay open and also the noise of seagulls on roof meant couldn’t keep them open as kept us awake most of the night. Limited parking and overflow at top of hill. Again not great if mobility an issue or if have lots of luggage / small children.
Overall it wasn’t a bad place it just really wasn’t suitable for us and if we’d have been there for longer I’d would have asked to switch rooms. The heat / noise was unbearable.
We were staying in the annex. Room in need of urgent refurbishment - noisy floorboards, broken door catches & faulty toilet systern.
Quirky property. Huge room.
The room in the annexe was amazing so comfortable with a lovely bathroom. The four poster was the best night sleep for a while!
The breakfast room was well serviced with friendly staff; a wide range of breakfast choices all cooked to perfection.
The staff were approachable and professional.
The place is a bit tired and probably do with a revamp not what we pictured or expected
Great place to stay: close to the harbor, restaurants. Very friendly staff.
Initially disapointed we were in the annexe but the room was ideal with 4 poster bed and well stocked each day. Breakfast was excellent full english.
Staff very helpfull and friendly would definietly visit again
Excellent location and the hotel's got so much character. We were in the annex which wasn't as old but still nice. The breakfast portions were large, so definitely no complaints there. We'd definately stay there again.
One night stay and very friendly staff and lovely hotel close to the Harbour
Original hall building is historically interesting and good environment. Annexe overlooking car park was a less attractive option. Staff although few in number were pleasant and helpful.
The hotel was very helpful they quickly organised a very early check in when we arrived at 2pm, the room and breakfast was of a very high standard
Lovely old buildings, comfortable rooms. They are a little in need of updating, but feel fairly clean. Wonderful location.
We had breakfast each day and it was really lovely, best part of the stay. The staff are also fabulous.
Very nice and comfortable, clean and pleasant helpful staff
The Hall is in a great position, only minutes walking to the beautiful harbour and old town. Our room in the annex was large, well appointed and very comfortable. It was, however, in the business’ annex which is separated from the Hall by another building, necessitating a 50m walk either on the street or through the car park at the rear to the main building’s reception, bar and breakfast room, which could be a problem in bad weather. On site parking is a significant plus. The old building is very atmospheric and historical and a marketing strength. The fact that guests can be allocated to a room in the annex is not easily found in the online description. Its main entrance in the side street could have been better kept at the time of our stay (smoking debris). Overall the Hall was a very comfortable place to stay.
This is a lovely old property, well maintained and decorated to a high standard. Our room was in the Annexe, again, a lovely large room with four poster bed. Breakfast was great, room amenities good, and with private parking in the centre of Whitby, a great choice of somewhere to stay. The staff were also very helpful and friendly.
Accessible location, great friendly staff, over all pleasant experience
Family room was excellent, staff were welcoming, good location, good breakfast. Have booked again.
Nice hotel with parking near to everything.expensivr but you get what you pay for.
Bagdale Hall is a grade 2 listed building and has loads of character due to this.We stayed in the hall as there is the annex also.
Rooms 1-6 are in the hall so you don't have to walk outside for reception and breakfast.
The bedroom was large with a four poster bed. The room was a bit cold as the original windows leak and are not sealed. They need to install secondary glazing which would solve the heating issue and also road noise.
The mattress was old and very springy so after 2 nights we were aching and tired, need to replace the mattress.
The breakfast was excellent, no need for lunch.
Location of the hotel is brilliant, near the train station and an easy stroll in to Whitby, no hills to combat
Free parking around the back of the hotel which is a bonus as all other locations are self parking.
All in all an ideal place to stay apart from the bed.
