Colombo City Hotel

We were not staying at this hotel.
We went there for drinks/dinner at the rooftop pub/bar because earlier in the day we saw a "Live Music" poster outside the hotel
But the day/time we went there was only a DJ, no live music
But ambience is good, gives a skyline view of the area
Crowd was less and food was OK, nothing great.
Probably better food+vibe options in the area

It was indeed lovely stay again at the city hotel and specially thanks to sankalpa who was the front desk on 10th Jan

My tour operator booked this hotel for an overnight stay. The hotel smells. There were no towels in the room. The walls are dirty. The WiFi is slow. The receptionist seemed surprised to see me when I checked in. The only redeeming quality is the location.

Happy staying at Oakray City Hotel for 4 days last week and wonderful experience during My Marketing Tour. beautiful view point @ rooftop bar with live music with mouthwatering meals. Accomadation of cause much much comfortable and hot water is the best. GM Mr Gerard and Mr Dilan is doing a excellent job and Mr kariyawasam is a happy employee.Overall everything is perfectly arrange and I love cinnamon fregrence is everywhere.
Very important point is, lobby washrooms are well maintained and Clean.I would love to recommend oakray city hotel for anyone who really besy and tired afterwards for relaxing with freshly made Mojito and really refreshing.

Recently stayed for 3 nights at Oak Ray City Hotel Colombo and to be specially mentioned that I was absolutely enjoyed the exceptional dining experience. Every meal was delight, showcasing incredible flavors, fresh ingredients and creative presentations. (I got to know from the Manager, that they use their own made spices with no preservatives to enhance the quality of the food)
The culinary team deserves special appreciation as each and every dishes were unforgetable.The chef is clearly put passion in to every dish and the menu offers a perfect mix of local and international favorites.
Further, their roof top area is ideal to enjoy an evening tea/snack overlooking the Colombo city and the TWIN towers.
I would definitely return to experience their food varieties in next year as well.

The pool on the roof was the highlight. We loved the breakfasts too and, more importantly, the kids loved the breakfasts!

Location very close to the train station was ideal as we stayed here after the train from Ella. Staff were very friendly and helpful, especially the guy running the restaurant

I had a very frustrating experience with Colombo City Hotel due to their lack of care and poor customer service. Their negligence caused me to pay extra, which could have been avoided if they had been more attentive and professional.

Not only did they fail to provide clear communication, but when I reached out for assistance, their customer service was unhelpful and dismissive. Instead of resolving the issue, they left me to deal with the consequences of their mistake.

It's disappointing to see such carelessness from a company that should prioritize its customers. I would not recommend their services, as their lack of responsibility cost me both time and money.

The only plus point was it is walking distance from Dutch hospital and the One Galle Face Mall

All the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful.
The manager especially went out of his way when I left my bag with money and documents in taxi from the airport. He was straight on the phone and back with me in half an hour, thank you very much.

Good location, good breakfast, nice rooftop bar. Friendly staff.

The hotel is old and the furniture dated. We stayed for one night only, so it was bearable, but I think there are better hotels around if you are staying for longer. Outside our room was the accounting department and we could hear all the conversations from the time they arrive in the morning, not to mention a group of tourists that were loud in the lobby below and the sound carried up through the stairwell to our room. Breakfast was passable. the only plus point was it is walking distance from Dutch hospital and the One Galle Face Mall
