BACKGROUND:
I specifically upgraded to the Executive Floor for our wedding anniversary celebration based on your website's assurance that:
1. Rooms on the executive floor were newly renovated
2. Executive Lounge access with premium amenities would be provided
3. This would meet Westin brand standards for a special occasion
The reality fell drastically short of these promises and Marriott Bonvoy standards.
CRITICAL SERVICE FAILURES:
1. MISREPRESENTATION OF ROOM CONDITION
I was explicitly told the Executive Floor rooms were "newly renovated." The room I received was extremely outdated and in no way reflected the renovation status promised during the upsell.
2. EXECUTIVE LOUNGE - UNACCEPTABLE STANDARDS
No breakfast service: The lounge opened at 12pm, unlike standard executive lounges across Marriott properties which serve breakfast
Inadequate supplies: The lounge ran out of wine glasses. When I attempted to use a champagne flute instead, it was visibly cracked, forcing me to drink red wine from a paper cup
This is completely unacceptable for a property charging premium rates for executive floor access
3. FOOD QUALITY & SAFETY CONCERNS
Breakfast area: Extremely disorganized and overcrowded, resembling "a zoo" rather than a premium hotel dining experience
Cross-contamination risk: Same tongs were used for both raw and cooked items - a serious food safety violation
Temperature control failure: Most items were not properly heated
Overall quality: Food quality was significantly below Westin standards
Room service failure: Club sandwich delivered on Jan 3rd was completely unacceptable [Photo attached]
4. FACILITY INFORMATION FAILURES
Unable to locate the Westin Heavenly Spa despite multiple inquiries
Gym staff provided incorrect directions
Lack of proper signage and staff knowledge of basic hotel facilities
5. STAFFING & COMMUNICATION DEFICIENCIES
Severe lack of English-speaking staff for an international luxury brand
Management was notably absent and unavailable throughout our stay
Unable to escalate concerns in real-time due to language barriers and management accessibility
Excellent hotel with very good location. Close to MixC shopping mall and Fourth May Square. Big breakfast dining room with plenty of choices. Will come back when I’m in Qingdao.

A great location with a short walk to some good sights to see nearby and easy access to the metro to get you further afield in and around Qingdao. An excellent standard of accommodation with comfortable bed spacious rooms and fully equipped bathroom. Morning coffee (Starbucks) attached to the hotel, which was perfect for our mornings.
Nice large room
I stayed here with my family (2 grandparents, 2 young kids - 3 y/o & 4 y/o, and 2 parents) in two junior suite rooms over 4 days / 3 nights. We enjoyed our stay overall as the hotel rooms and views are generally very nice with its location atop a subway station (although we never took the subway because we had so many family members) and across the street for the giant MIXC mall. We paid for the breakfast to be included, and stopped by every morning, with a decent selection of Chinese and western food selection. The beds were nice. The bathroom and tub were very good quality. And the junior suite layout was extremely helpful with having younger kids and multiple needs of bathrooms, water, and reading breaks. The hotel pool and gym are both good quality. We booked through the Marriott Bonvoy app, and the pricing was competitive, but that central part of Qingdao is pricey, and we wanted to stay near/close to all of the local attractions. Our only complaint was not having our rooms ready after a long day of traveling and arriving at the hotel at 3:30. We had to complain before rooms on a different floor (but the same size) were re-assigned to us. I with we didn’t have to complain to get rooms assigned to us, so definitely something the hotel can work on to improve on going forward. Otherwise, we had a great stay.
Old, smelly, clogged drain, dirty carpet. Front desk not helpful
Excellent hotel, very good rooms and absolutely great breakfast. Location is perfect, as you are 10 minutes away from the bustling waterfront, with myriads of the various spots of entertainment and food.
And at night hotel is amazingly lit!
Beautiful hotel in the heart of qingdao, awesome breakfast
There are too many issues with this hotel to address, so I will do my best to keep it short. Definitely the worst Westin property I have ever stayed in, out of 5+ ones in the past. I stayed at room 1907, Jr. suite over the past 3 nights.
We arrived to the hotel at 3:20pm to check-in, and the guy behind the reception desk (Abel Hou) told us the room wasn't ready yet. Aside from the lack of any mannerism (not even a "hello" or "你好"), he had no solution for us either, hoping we could read his mind that we could wait longer. Female supervisor came over to address the problem, and says there is another room ready of the same tier and floor, just that it hasn't been signed off and inspected by a manager yet after housekeeping. I said no problem, if there are any issues I will let them know later.
And my god were there many issues. Which was expected, but reason why I'm writing this review is because every issue during our 3 night stay at this hotel requires asking and informing them 2-4 times in order for them to address or solve the issue. And everything was done half-assed.
- Conditioner bottle was completely empty, had to ask 2 times on the phone
- The carpet wasn't vacuumed properly, had many food crumbs and sand. After the 1st time I asked them to vacuum, the floor was still dirty, and had to ask again for the corners to be vacuumed.
- The bathroom stall had construction metal shavings all over the bottom of the door. I asked for it to be cleaned. Again, there was an attempt, but still not cleaned properly.
- Bathroom shower water wasn't warm enough, max was 25-28C. I asked the first day to send a repairman upstairs to fix it, or have a room change. No follow-up, returned to room at night, water still not warm. I asked again the next day, they said they will send someone up again-- and then hours later, no results. Finally, I asked for the 3rd time to either fix it or change rooms, they finally found a repairman that can fix it, and the water was at normal shower temperature and can reach 45C+. However, on the 3rd day, the water wasn't warm enough again.
- Had to ask for additional box of tissues 3 times to get extra tissues.
On top of these issues, this Westin hotel does not have a concierge counter/service! There's the universal concierge symbol on the desk on ground floor, but they're just bagmen's. We asked 3 different staffs behind the concierge desk, our touristy Qingdao questions were often met with "search on Baidu yourself on phone", or "not sure", or "I think so". We didn't even ask them to book tours or reservations for us, we just asked for basic info like how to get to certain tourist sites. [And if you ask the reception desks on 5th floor, they will refer you back down to G floor concierge desk].
Room service food was atrocious, but can't complain too much due to the below average hotel room service pricing. Ordered the beef noodle soup to be safe, but the broth turns out to be completely watered down, noodles super overcooked, minimal amount of dried out beef pieces, and more noodles than soup. Cup noodle would've been a better option.
Finally, almost all the employees just seem miserable working here. On the day of our check out, we handed our keys back and told the staff our room number. The total bill was printed out and loosely shoved in an envelope without any explanation.
No eye contact, no "did you enjoy your stay with us", or "hope you had a great stay", and not even a goodbye.

This hotel is a very good hotel with great service and great staff. Check in and check out was a breeze. The bed was comfortable the rooms are large the shower was ok not great and the hotel is starting to show signs of wear and tear. The selection of fresh fruits and vegetables at breakfast and happy hour needs to be improved.

대체적으로 다 좋았고, 매리어트 계열의 특유의 느낌이 있습니다. 조식 및 해피아워 음식은 입에 썩 맞지는 않네요. 이 부분은 중국 내 공통이라서 어쩔 수 없는 것 같고요. 호텔 근처 물가가 저렴하지는 않습니다. 공항에서 약 50분 정도 걸리는 것 같아요.
