Sehr nette Gastgeber, perfekte Lage-wir kommen aufjedenfall wieder.
Muito acolhedores, hotel lindo, confortável, vista incrível da varanda do quarto !
The staff here is extremely friendly and responsive to guest needs. The location is fine - reasonably close to the train station, without being in the midst of that station's commercial area. The sauna here is an absolute gem. The breakfast could be a bit more fulsome, but seems in line with other Swiss resort town hotels. My wife and I sincerely recommend this hotel.
Breakfast was awesome. The staff was so accommodating throughout it the stay.. we needed tooth brushes, coffee early before breakfast started… our room was incredible. The top floor PH offered unobstructed views of the Matterhorn with a beautiful deck. The suite was very well done - not Swiss tacky, but very tastefully finished. Highly recommend this place and definitely go to their bar, Harry’s ski bar, down the street!
We chose Matterhorn Lodge Boutique because of its outstanding reviews, but unfortunately our experience did not match the hotel’s high rating.
We booked three rooms for our family. One of them had a strong sewage odor when we arrived. Although the smell disappeared after some time, the bathroom has no exhaust fan, which made us wonder whether the toilet had been used shortly before our arrival without enough time for proper ventilation. Of course, we cannot be certain, but it was an unpleasant first impression.
Another downside is the lack of bathroom privacy. The bathroom is open to the bedroom, with no door separating the toilet area. Our room also faced a small garden, and with the curtains open, people outside could potentially see inside the room, including the toilet area.
The most disappointing part of our stay involved a staff member named Rubem. At check-in, he initially spoke to us while remaining seated in a staff room with the door open instead of welcoming us at the reception. He then asked, in a rather reproachful tone, why I had not replied to an email he had sent two days earlier asking a simple question about whether we preferred our rooms to be next to each other or arranged as originally booked. The tone was so uncomfortable that my sister, who could only hear the conversation without seeing him, thought he was arguing with me.
The most frustrating moment happened later that evening. Our family of seven gathered in the hotel’s common lounge area, where breakfast is served, to chat and enjoy a bottle of wine we had purchased elsewhere. After a few minutes, Rubem approached us and said that, because there was a bar in that area, he could charge us for consuming our own drinks there. I politely explained that I hadn’t realized it was considered part of the bar, as there were no other guests present and it looked like the hotel’s lounge/common area. He replied that it was not the lobby and suggested that we either move to the garden or return to our rooms. Unfortunately, the garden was in direct sunlight and quite uncomfortable, so we ended up going back to our rooms instead. To his credit, he later realized how inappropriate the interaction had been and apologized several times, which I appreciated. However, by then, the situation had already affected our overall experience.
On the positive side, the breakfast is excellent, with a wide variety of fresh bread, smoked salmon, made-to-order eggs, yogurt, and many other options. The beds are comfortable, the shower is excellent, the room darkens well for sleeping even though the curtains are not blackout, and the heated towel rack is very useful for drying towels and clothes.
One final point worth mentioning is that the hotel does not have air conditioning, which can be quite uncomfortable during the summer months.
Overall, the hotel itself is pleasant, but I believe it is overrated. The facilities are good, but the service we experienced, especially during check-in and the incident in the lounge, fell well below what we expected from a property with such exceptional reviews. I would not choose to stay here again.

Great location! Friendly staff. Pick up and drop off from/to the train station was helpful.
No AC in the rooms.
Grosses schönes Gartenzimmer mit Terrasse. Gute Dinner Tips. Gutes Frühstück. Gutes Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis.
Kühlschrank im Zimmer wäre schön.
Absolut fantastischer Aufenthalt!
I stayed at Matrohon Lodge for three nights in June. The apartment itself was very clean, comfortable, and well maintained. The room and facilities were excellent, and overall the stay could have been a very pleasant one.
Unfortunately, the experience ended very badly because of the behavior of the reception staff. One night, while using the kitchen, a small piece of bread got burnt, which triggered the fire alarm. The fire department came, but there was no fire, no damage, and no issue with the room—only burnt bread in the kitchen.
The next day, the reception staff demanded a charge from me, first saying €300 and then €400, even though this charge was not clearly communicated or written anywhere. When I refused to provide my credit card, both reception staff members became extremely rude. As I was leaving, they told me they “wish the worst” for me and wished me bad luck. This was shocking and completely unacceptable behavior from people working in hospitality.
The property itself is beautiful, clean, and comfortable, but the attitude of the reception staff completely changed the experience and left a very bad impression. I have stayed in many excellent hotels around the world, including luxury hotels in Switzerland, and I have never experienced such rude treatment.
This is a serious concern for the management. The hotel is great, but the staff behavior needs urgent attention and action.
