Great breakfast with a varied choice and lovely fresh baked bread and pastries each day. The location was just what we wanted, not in the centre of Funchal but a nice distance away of approximately 20 minutes walk. Nice low level traditional property rather than a large concrete modern hotel.Rooms were clean with shampoo, shower gel and soap provided if you wanted it. Good to have a kettle and there was room in the mini bar for us to put our own milk. Staff were very helpful and efficient. Lovely cocktails in the cocktail bar and the bartender was very skilled at making the drinks looks lovely with apple swans and banana boats
Nice pool which was always quiet. Didn’t use the restaurant but always seemed busy so it must have been good.
You had to pay for a room safe. It wasn’t expensive at only €2 per day and a €10 euro refundable deposit but in this day and age safes should be included in your hotel costs.
The pillows on the bed were not very comfortable so could definitely be improved. Only 1 lamp was provided but 2 would be better
We stayed in the junior suite just above the restaurant and directly next to the sea. Nice, big balcony with a fantastic view, comfortable beds and falling asleep to the sound of the waves was definitely a nice extra.
Superb location - we had the junior suite which was beside the sea . There is a large and very nice pool. The room and terrace were really nice and very spacious

The only real advantages are the excellent location and the nearby Scuba Azul Diving Center, which was a great experience.
I was very disappointed with my stay at Quinta da Penha de França Mar. This is definitely not a 4-star hotel.
The building and rooms look old and poorly maintained. The doors are worn out, outdated, and in need of repainting. The overall atmosphere feels cheap and neglected. The photos on Booking.com are misleading and create expectations that do not match reality.
The breakfast was extremely poor, with very limited choices and very little worth eating. For a hotel claiming to be 4 stars, the quality and variety of food were unacceptable.
Cleanliness also left a lot to be desired. The hotel does not appear to be properly maintained, and several areas looked neglected.

De ligging vlakbij een gezellige straat met vele verschillende eetgelegenheden in alle prijsklassen. Ook prima uitvalbasis voor de wandelingen en de ontdekking van het ganse eiland.
Prachtig uitzicht over de zee. Vlakbij de boulevard en het gezellige centrum van Funchal. Parking aan het hotel.
De kamer was zeer eenvoudig. Wel ruim maar een beetje afgeleefd. Jammer ook dat je na 19u zelfs niet meer aan het zwembad mocht blijven zitten. Het ontbijt is na een week ook eentonig zonder variatie. Niet de 4 sterren waard.

Emplacement parfait, à 15/20mn du centre à pieds en passant par le bord de mer.
Petit déjeuner sympathique, omelette faire sur le moment, possibilité de déjeuner sur la terrasse.
Je m'interroge sur la taille du parking. Il est vraiment très petit par rapport au nombre de chambres. En été ce doit être compliqué de se garer.
