Lovely, atmospheric and friendly place to stay
Pros:

This is the second time I’ve stayed at this friendly and comfortable hotel and it won’t be the last. It is located walking distance to El Jardin (main square and church) and across the street from Instituto Allende,

There can’t be a kinder staff in all of the city. Reception is friendly and helpful. Housekeeping is wonderful replacing bathroom amenities daily. They leave two bottles of water the first day and you can replace water from the 5-gallon water dispensers in the halls. The buffet breakfast is excellent and includes an egg chef, Cafe de Olla (Mexican coffee) and on weekends, hand-made tortillas. Rooms are large with good AC and hot water pressure. The TV has CNN and BBC and wi-fi is excellent.

There is no reason to stay any place else.

One bit of info. in case you need a pharmacy or snacks - there is one practically next door (turn left as you edit the gate). It is OK, but prices are high. Walk a few more steps and there is Farmacia Guadalajara, with a large, nicely stocked mini-mart and a pharmacy in the back. Prices and selection are much better.

Appreciate the opportunity to stay in such a special place
Pros:

The charm of the building, and the care put into it are impressive. Attentive staff is terrific. Location, of course is fabulous.

Cons:

The yellow bulbs in the ceiling fixture are oppressive, especially in a room without much natural light. A better choice of light bulb that brightens the room without making it feel like a hospital would be a terrific improvement.

Lovely and glad I have beenhere.
Pros:

charming, attentive staff. Updates can always be needed in older places and they have done a good job being on top of this.

Cons:

I only had breakfast which was good. (Will have more now the official trip has started. I would prefer that coffee be available long before 8 am. 7 am would be good - 6:30 even better.
