The architecture
The history and the character of the place and its location
There’s not much to dislike about this property
The building is beautiful and furnishings all compliment this. Staff were friendly, helpful and professional. Our meals were delicious, plenty of choice and beautifully presented. The hotel was quiet, comfortable and very relaxing.
I think the bathroom, being old, was a little tired.
breakfast, spa (although i felt it the spa vacilities could hae been less exspensive for residents) the room we stayed in needed a bit of TLC , staff were excellent. Alcohol prices were exspensive. Noise from A66 was disruptive to sleep.
Noise fromA66 ,price of alcohol was exsessive, late evening meal, maybe start at 1730. spa pricing for residents was exspensive. you had to pay for two hours (one hour would have enough)
Staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast and dinner were both excellent. Lovely atmosphere, very comfortable, fabulous views. All in all we had a very pleasant stay and would recommend to family and friends. Thank you
Nothing much really, the only thing was lack of plug sockets in the room.
Room was huge. Good location and extremely quiet.
Nothing.

Breakfast was excellent and the evening bistro menu much enjoyed. It is very close to the A66 which is a great bonus if you are breaking your journey for an overnight stay.

Good value
Small window in bedroom so room was dark
Bathroom a little dated
Spa, breakfast, dinner, comfy lounge area, staff brilliant. Comfy chairs in room.
Window in room wouldn't open. So it was quite warm for sleeping.
The staff were lovely and the pool room was brilliant
The food was excellent and they catered for my wife's allergies.
It was very quiet and peaceful.
The room was too warm due possibly to the heated towel rack in the bathroom
Beautiful “old fashioned “ . A nice combo of shabby chic furniture with the modern
Breakfast was limited.
No cheese/meat available and the pastry options meagre .
Cooked full English breakfast was very good but smaller portions than other hotels I’ve frequented
