Zipolite is beautiful. The semi private beach at El Alquimista is

At night the restaurant is full of candles with cozy and romantic touch
Fourth time at El Alquimista. The hotel is really showing its age. The recent storms have taken a toll. Instead of investing in the property each year, the property has stayed the same over the past four years. The fixtures and fittings are showing age, the menu hasn’t changed, the loungers are worn. I’m sad to say that my time at El Alquimista is over. On to find a new hotel in the area.

We love El Alquimista! This is probably the most luxurious place to stay in Zipolite and you will not be disappointed. Attention to detail and exceptional service is one of the key points for our recurring stays here. They truly take care of you!
Two of our favorite staff are Louis & Cheely. They take excellent care of you in the restaurant and on the beach! After just day one they knew what we drank and what we liked. They just made life so simple and enjoyable for us. Louis had our umbrella and table waiting every day. With him we truly never needed for ANYTHING! Food here is EXCELLENT!
The grounds here are just beautiful and well maintained! The front desk guys also do a wonderful job and can schedule transportation for you to and from the airport. Nothing like getting off the plane in HUX and having a smiling face holding a card with your name on it!
El Alquimista makes it difficult for you to want to leave the property. The quality of services and food are hard to beat in this small town. The ambience is also just over the top! We loved all the candles at night and the refined vibe!

This place is your secret vacation hideaway, and I would change nothing about it. Be sure to visit Juli and Oli at the restaurant. They are superstars in the perfect setting. Never wanted to leave and am planning my next visit while writing this. Absolutely perfect people! Great job!
I enjoyed my stay. It’s a nice getaway. I had few issues, but nothing out of the extraordinary. I specifically dislike the fact that there’s a lot of street dogs around; they walk around you while you’re eating in the restaurant.
We stayed at three different places in Zipolite. Alquimista was best for food and location. The service was also good. We weren't aware that some of the hotels in Zipolite, while air conditioned, don't have glass windows, just wooden shutters and thatched roofs. In September when we visited, the air conditioner only keeps the room so cool, especially if you want to open the shutters for light. We weren't attracted to Alquimista because it was clothing optional, so we were okay with discovering that only the beach area in front of the hotel (not the hotel itself, like we had read) is clothing optional, although it seems to be okay on some of the hotel-serviced lounge chairs by the beach. Our room was by the hotel's kitchen, so between the crew working late in the night and the crew working breakfast, there was a considerable amount of noise. The view of the ocean from our room and the view from the pool were both obstructed by vegetation that could have been cut back, but we experienced the same issue at another hotel. Alquimista is definitely one of the better stays in the town, and the restaurant serves delicious, fresh food. It's a pleasant laidback cabana experience. Not fancy, but nothing is in the town.
The property is very boutique and located in Zipolito known for nude beach. , bungalow type rooms, reminded me a little of Bora Bora style bungalows. The food is very good at hotel and if you want to try other food option there are local restaurants with in walking distance that offer great food at half the or less the price of hotel. If you want to try a shrimp burrito then go into the town of mazunte and stop in at the Burrito fish local.
Absolutely gorgeous place, couldn’t recommend this place enough. I would recommend the beach side cabins, it’s gorgeous to walk out the door on to the beach, idyllic. I almost didn’t want to review this because I didn’t want more people to know about it so it doesn’t get too busy 😂
The accomodations are superb it needs an infinity pool
Un lugar con una decoración que te sumerge en la vibra de Zipolite. Las habitaciones son cómodas, quizás, solo agregaría una TV para aprovechar algún momento de ocio, particularmente durante la noche. Fuera de eso, las vistas, las amenidades, el cuidado de los detalles hacen de este lugar uno recomendable.
