Everything about this hotel is exceptional! We have stayed at many luxury properties throughout the world, including The Four Seasons, Ritz, Carlton, Mandarin Oriental, Montage, Rosewood, etc. and this particular hotel had the best customer attention and care over any hotel we’ve stayed at. I only had to mention my food allergies once and during the 4 days we were there, every server remembered it before I had to mention it. They truly made us feel like family. The views are a no-brainer- nothing beats them at any time of the day! The food was amazing and our room was beautiful, clean and exceptionally comfortable. The a/c gets extra cool, which is rare for Europe. I actually slept better at this hotel than I have anywhere else the world, including home. Thr location next to Burroughs Market and the Tube made it very convenient too.
Location and luxury standards
It is expensive for food and drinks
Such an amazing hotel with great staff!
The hotel is lovely, the room was beautiful and nicely appointed, and the views over The Tower and Tower Bridge obviously stunning. The pool and sauna on 52nd floor are a joy. We arrived at 2pm but our room was not ready, so we had something to eat at Ting, which was just ok, seemed overpriced for what we had? We were promised a text on our room availibility which never came, eventually i went to reception to ask if we could have keys yet. Rate included breakfast which was a buffet, which was fine, I would prefer waiter service at thos price. We were asked if we would like an omlette (nothing else was mentioned), i asked for a menu but there is no breakfast menu?? The tea served at breakfast was truly dreadful. Weak stale luke warm tea poured into teapots from jugs on a side serving table, it tasted of coffee. We had had enough and didnt linger. The final irritation was again having to ask for the removal of the discretionary 5% " hotel service charge".
The view, the room, the location, the service
Couldn’t fault it
I stayed at Shangri-La The Shard, London between 24–30 May.
The staff were very friendly and welcoming. The rooms and bathrooms were spacious, clean, and modern, especially by London standards.
One of the greatest privileges of staying there was being able to enjoy the breathtaking view of London from above at any time from the room. You can see The Shard from almost every part of London, which makes the experience even more special.
We had booked our stay with breakfast included, and the breakfast was excellent. It was also very nice that halal food options were available.
Another great advantage of the hotel is its location. The underground and train stations are right next to the hotel, and the Uber Boat pier is also very close, making transportation around London extremely convenient.
The concierge team was also very helpful, and the staff serving breakfast were extremely kind, attentive, and helpful throughout our stay.
Update 2026: We stayed for another couple nights and the hotel is just aa excellent as ever. We tried the Elemis massage treatment this time and it was great too. It's situated in one of the rooms of the hotel and the staff does a great job at finding you to bring you there.
Original 2024 review: Easily one of the best hotels I've ever stayed in - be sure to book and check out the Sky Pool, it's a must!
The location isn't the best as it's a little far from the city centre, however there's a tubes station right next door for easy access to the city.
We just got back from eight nights in the London Suite at Shangri-La The Shard and honestly — it's one of those stays you keep talking about long after you're home.
The suite is on Level 38 and the views are simply extraordinary. Floor-to-ceiling windows, 180 degrees of unobstructed London skyline — Tower Bridge and the Tower of London are right there in front of you, St Paul's, Canary Wharf, the Houses of Parliament, and on clear mornings we could even spot the Emirates Stadium to the north. The deep soaking tub faces the view directly, which sounds like a small thing until you're actually in it with London spread out below you. The furnishings, amenities, and butler service all matched the setting perfectly. Not a single weak detail.
But the real reason to stay here is the people. Jessica (the manager) is exceptional — she's the kind of person who quietly makes everything work before you even notice it needs to. Proactive, warm, and consistent across nine days. And Wyine at the front desk — our welcome on arrival day after a long overnight flight was warm, graceful, and set the tone for everything that followed. We didn't forget her name.
The London Suite is a genuine bucket list experience. Views, soaking tub, suite quality, staff — it all comes together in a way that's hard to find anywhere. We're already talking about coming back.
La chambre exceptionnelle la vue sur tout, Londres la salle de bain, magnifique vue sur la cathédrale Saint-Paul, le petit déjeuner exceptionnel et le personnel aux petits soins
It was a wonderful experience staying at this hotel.
Definitely recommended for a special occasion.
The view from the room was dreamy and the bathtub with the view was the highlight.
I was on a 3 day business trip to London in the middle of a very long international journey. I stayed here because my meeting was in the hotel and I am so very glad I did. When I collapsed into my room at 10 pm after a long flight from India, I was so pleased at the comfy bed, the spacious room, the AMAZING heated toilet. And the room smelled sooooo good. The rooftop sauna overlooks the city and is not to be missed. I will arrange to stay here if possible in the future.
