Unfortunately not a good experience

Staff was very friendly, the location

Cons:

Unfortunately, we felt quite disappointed because the room was a bit run down and dark, and for the price I would have expected a bit more. But our most unfortunate experience was eating in the restaurant, trying the Western food, as we fell ill afterwards. As the restaurant is charging prices twice as high as normal restaurants, i would have not expected to run into problems like that. When the food came, we noticed a strange smell, but unfortunately kept eating. I’d be careful and stick to the local food, which we should have done.

The staff were friendly.

Yellow stains on the sheets, lack of service in restaurant for dinner, piece of long white plastic pulled from a pancake at breakfast, LOUDEST karaoke ever until 11pm.

Nice hotel if you choose the new rooms
Pros:

Staff were great, liked our second room.
Breakfast was good.

Cons:

When we checked in we were given a horrible room which was full of mosquitos, old and it looked like the toilet was leaking urine as was wet and smelt. We upgraded to the new building and room was a lot nicer we didn't get the option for this room originally. Breakfast was so busy we couldn't get a table but food was good. Hotel was noisy with kids running around pressing our door bell at 7am

Beautiful location but rooms need to be upgraded and modernised.
Pros:

The location on the shores of Lake Toba is superb. The breakfast is also excellent.

Cons:

The shower facilities were not good - only a handheld shower which was not able to be afjusted in height or direction when mounted which resulted in water everywhere in the bathroom.
