Not modern, old furniture, antiquated feel to the place, pool area very cramped, single beds (like camp beds) in a “suite” room is not good, food is average and not inspiring, you have to pay for room safe, did not re-stock milk in fridge, WiFi is temperamental, should supply water daily in a “suite” room,furniture is cheap and basic, coffee stains on bedroom carpet. This hotel is over-priced for what it offers. It’s a great location but very over-priced and not value for money. Sadly we will not be back and would not recommend it to others.
Everything, cleanliness, staff, location, food, entertainment all could not be faulted
We chose Son Matias Beach Hotel largely because of the excellent reviews and decided to spend a bit more than we normally would, expecting something special. Unfortunately, our experience was that it was just… okay.
There’s nothing particularly wrong with the hotel, but nothing that really justified the price we paid either. The breakfast was average, the rooms were fine, and the overall experience was perfectly acceptable, but that’s about it.
What surprised us were the extra charges. We had to pay for use of the safe, Wi-Fi wasn’t included, and even changing a beach towel cost €1. I wasn’t asking for multiple towels a day – just a fresh one on day two – so it felt a bit petty, especially considering the room rates.
If you’re debating whether to pay a premium because the reviews make this place sound exceptional, my advice would be to manage your expectations. It’s not a bad hotel by any means, but in our opinion it wasn’t worth the extra money and didn’t live up to the hype.
One other thing worth mentioning: my husband and I are in our early 40s and were easily among the youngest guests. This wasn’t a problem for us, but if you’re looking for a more mixed-age atmosphere, it’s something to be aware of.
As a side note, we also weren’t particularly impressed with the beach area directly in front of the hotel, although that’s obviously a matter of personal preference.
Overall: comfortable, clean and perfectly adequate, but not the standout experience the reviews led us to expect.
Charged for wifi, safe, towels. Expensive for what it was.
Die Lage ist natürlich klasse. Der Weg zum Strand ist kurz und das Hotel bietet sogar Handtücher extra für den Strand an.
Ein Wasserkocher und Kaffee befinden sich im Zimmer.
Mein Highlight: Das Hotel bietet nach dem auschecken noch eine Dusche an. Wir waren vor Abflug noch am Strand, haben im Hotel geduscht und sind dann entspannt zum Flughafen.
Das Frühstück ist gut, passt aber trotzdem nicht ganz zum Preis pro Nacht.
Leider sehr viel Gebäck wie Donuts und kein gutes Rührei...
Aber man findet aber auch Lachs, Guacamole und Sobrasada.
We took a suite and loved the space in the room and the big balcony.
Pool area is cramped/not pretty being a courtyard and very noisy from the bars and the road.
The property is right on the beach with stunning sea views! The room at check in was clean.
Rude cleaning staff. They didn’t clean a few of our rooms for 3 out of 4 days of staying there. This is unacceptable
