De plek is prachtig. Heel mooi oud gebouw.
Great location and nice people. Very comfortable place to stay.
ligging vd locatie.
If you're going to Stasia you're probably going for scuba diving. This is the place to stay. The hotel is located right on the beach, about a five minute walk from the ferry if you are arriving by boat. There are three businesses located on this small stretch of beach: the hotel, a very good beachfront restaurant (Barrel House), and a large scuba shop (Scubaqua). It's a little bit difficult to understand the layout of the hotel from the pictures on the website. Rest assured that the layout works beautifully. There is a small road down the beach front which divides the hotel (no traffic). On the Oceanside there are a few ocean facing rooms, a bar and restaurant serving meals and drinks all day long, a large covered patio to escape the sun, and many couches and chairs on the beach for sunning relaxing and enjoying the view. On the opposite side of the road you find the hotel with most of the guest rooms and a small swimming pool. The owners are kind and make themselves accessible, The hotel staff is very pleasant, The hotel lobby is decorated in dark brick and leather furniture bringing a old World Caribbean vibe. Good water pressure, good air conditioning, very large and nice walk in shower, comfortable bed with clean sheets, Good towels and good television reception. This hotel seems to be the place for most of the social activity on the beachfront. It is not overly busy but the locals mingle here with the tourists and creates a very friendly atmosphere. Good drinks, good surf, lots of fun, and good music, what's not to like?
We stayed in late February and the hotel had mosquitoes. The hotel also provided bug spray. So I wouldn't call it a problem, just a situation to be managed. If you stay at this hotel without a car there are limited but very adequate dining options. The hotel bar/restaurant is good. The gourmet beachfront restaurant next door is good. There are a few additional beachfront type restaurants near the harbor. If you're just here a few days it's perfectly adequate. On the weekends the locals set up a barbecue in the park just down the street. Local food which is very good.
This is a review for "King room with garden view" and "The barrel house". We initially booked the king room for the balcony, as we prefer to spend most of our time outside. These rooms however do not have balconies. What you see in the pictures is the hallway that runs along the front of the rooms. This gives you no privacy and makes sitting outside a little awkward and uncomfortable. In my opinion this should not be sold as a balcony. The room is dark with 1 window leading to the same hallway, so opening the curtains or the window gives anyone an option to look inside. The room has coffee, tea, watera great shower and a musty smell, which makes it largely overpriced. We decided to upgrade to the barrel house for an additional 60 usd per night and this is very much worth it!! The barrel house has an ocean front private patio with a table, chairs, umbrella and a spectacular ocean view. The ocean front part of the patio is shared with the barrel house restaurant, but they open from 11 am to 9 pm and the patio is large enough to not be in each other's way. Besides this the restaurant does great food. The inside of the house is spacious. It comes with coffee, tea, water and a nice shower. The bed room is upstairs with the kitchen and living room downstairs. The barrel house was definitely worth the extra investment, which made the King room feel even more overpriced. Both rooms include breakfast which you can pick from a menu with plenty to choose from and you have it by the ocean. All things considered; if you're staying here and have the extra money, stay in the barrel house.
No balcony, dark, musty smell in the room.
The breakfast, dinner, and the staff were really nice.
The rooms are overpriced for just a simple fridge and TV. The rooms lack a wow factor. I have paid less for great rooms.
Il balcone direttamente sopra le onde e soprattutto la gentilezza e la grande disponibilità dei gerenti.
We enjoyed the food in the restaurant. Staff were very friendly and helpful.
Our room was rather dark. There were multiple lights, but very dim bulbs. It was necessary to leave the curtain closed as the main window was on the external access corridor.
Great location and sunset views. Best Reston the island on your doorstep. The managers - Peter and Svanne - couldn’t have been more helpful. They even gave me a lift to another property when I had to move out one night due to Statia Week celebrations
Don’t dine when large parties are at the restaurant. I waited 1.5 hours for my meal because the kitchen dealt with large groups before turning to smaller orders. The managers assured me this was being looked at. It was my bad luck that my dinner that night was my first and only meal of the day!
