Needed to stay a night in St. Louis and wanted to be close to the arch for walking purposes. Check in was quick and easy, friendly staff, and they upgraded us as an ambassador elite so we appreciated that. We loved the onsite restaurant/bar Robies - don't miss happy hour. Big plus - dogs stay free. Comfortable rooms and great old building charm. The valet was slow retrieving our truck this morning which is not operated by the hotel - that would be my only area for improvement.
It was very convenient
Could’ve had a better selection for the menu in the restaurant
One of the worst experiences I’ve had at a Marriott-branded hotel. I arrived after a very long day and, upon getting into bed, noticed a strong odor as if someone had vomited on the sheets. The pillows were also very uncomfortable. I was unable to sleep the entire night and felt quite uneasy due to the smell. The next morning, I discovered a packet of tomato ketchup on the floor next to my bed—clearly indicating the room had not been properly cleaned. I reported this to the front desk and went to my conference after being assured the room would be thoroughly cleaned. I returned around 1 pm, hoping to rest after a sleepless night, only to be told the room still hadn’t been cleaned. I waited in the lobby for some time and eventually had to return to my conference. When I came back at 6 pm, I was informed the room had been cleaned. However, upon entering, I found the same ketchup packet still on the floor. This confirmed that the room had not been properly serviced. Overall, not only was the initial condition of the room unacceptable, but the lack of follow-through by housekeeping and staff made the situation worse. I effectively lost both a full night’s sleep and an entire day without being able to properly use the room.
In addition, I reached out to the General Manager, Newton Kam and expressed my disappointment in the email, to which I have received no response till todate.

We visited this beautiful hotel during a volleyball tournament weekend. The beds were comfy and since was impeccable. Lans made sure we had everything we needed to relax during this hectic weekend and went above and beyond to help us when our travel plans were delayed. Marriott does it again!
What a lot of wonderful history in this landmark building! With wonderful stained glass, and air hockey table and pool table, a big classy bar / restaurant. The service is good and the check-in is speedy fast! As sometimes happens though, the retrofit rooms are cut up into strange shapes, and tend to be a little dark. The bathroom with its small size tub and shower curtain is just okay.
Location and staff were good.
Room was small, room door was very difficult to open, and the dryer and safe didn’t work.
Comfortable
The animals barking, the elevators slow, valet parking was backed up.
accommodations were good
shower was clean
no microwave in room
toilet had difficulty flushing
The shower was cold. Highly disappointing.
The only things I liked were the beds, pillows, and decor of the lobby and restaurant.
Literally everything else. I waited 55 minutes after calling the valet only to be told they lost the keys to the garage where our keys were held. I saw my car keys along with others just out in the open on the desk UNATTENDED. The hotel smelled like sewage, the elevators were terribly dirty, the staff was rude, my toilet had a fecal stain in it upon arrival. The list literally goes on. This was one of, if not the worst, hotel experience I have ever had. This hotel is incredibly overpriced.
Great hotel! Wicked comfy beds and great shower pressure. The foyer offered a unique aesthetic, pool table and shuffleboard. Also the hotel has an adopt/sponsor a dog program and we loved seeing all the puppy pictures in the common spaces. The continental breakfast was limited. The hotel is a tad dated and would benefit from minor maintenance such as fixing small cracks and stains. Not dirty, just a tad worn. We would stay again!
The atmosphere and the layout with different options for guests to enjoy themselves
We loved the interior of the hotel—it was so charming and welcoming. The location was great, and the happy hour was a nice added bonus. The front desk staff were incredibly helpful and kind, making our stay even more enjoyable. We would definitely stay here again.
The staff was very helpful
Rooms had plenty of problems
The ambiance inside was nice. The front desk was good and the dining was really good. The holiday decor made the place beautiful.
