It is a 'smart' hotel, so can only access via appropriate code numbers for entrance door and bedroom door. My email stopped working about 1 hour before arrival. I therefore did not receive the email advising me of the entrance door code or my room number. I was let into the hotel by a fellow guest. I called but there was no staff member there. I rang all three numbers given on the booking.com confirmation details: one was no reply, the other was not recognised and the third was an AI chat person who did not understand my issues. I rang an unknown telephone number from which I had received a phonecall earlier in the day from an unrecognised hotel name in the hope that it might in some way be associated with the hotel where I was staying. Fortunately it was answered by a person who was associated with the hotel where I was staying. This whole process took about 70 minutes. I would not have stayed at the hotel if I had known it was a 'smart' hotel.

The location of the hotel was very poor, and throughout the entire night we could hear people screaming, shouting, and making noise outside, which came straight into our room.

Despite the 35°C heat, there wasn’t even a fan in the room. When I asked the reception if they had air conditioning or at least a fan, they said that the temperature only gets this high for two days a year. This was a completely unreasonable excuse for not providing any cooling facilities in a hotel. We also asked for drinking water at the reception, but they told us they didn’t have any.

The cleanliness was at the lowest possible standard. The bed sheets and pillows were dirty, and there was hair from previous guests on the bedding. It honestly seemed like the room had not been cleaned at all before our arrival.

Considering the extremely poor facilities—which were not even comparable to those of a basic hostel—the price was unreasonably high.

Overall, this was the worst hotel experience of my life.

1) It said it had an elevator to access upper floors, but you need to climb steps with no handrails to get into the building. The elevator was so small we couldn’t both fit in it with our luggage. There was an additional step between the elevator and our room. 2) it said 24 hr front desk. There is no front desk. The only person we saw was a housekeeper when we left. There was a digital check in that worked, but the email was in German and I needed to use a translation app to figure out how to check in. 3) the bed took up so much of the room that it was hard to get around it. 4) the room door didn’t appear to lock from the inside. 5) it’s a nonsmoking hotel but the smoking area is on the front steps. 6) there weren’t even water glasses in the room. 7) there was no AC. I hadn’t filtered for that, but there was a horrible heat wave.

Ants in the bed and no fan provided. I’ve stay in other less costly hotels in Germany that provided a fan. It makes all the difference in the world.
