Ronnie, the valet was fantastic. He was very polite and helpful.
Had a terrible night's sleep due to how loud the appliances were.
Both the AC unit and the mini-fridge made an absolute racket all night. The fridge had a constant, loud mechanical hum that never seemed to kick off, and whenever the AC turned on, it sounded like a jet engine taking off. I literally had to choose between being uncomfortably hot or dealing with a wall of noise.
On top of that, the logistics are a bit tricky. The hotel parking is actually located across the street, and it would be really helpful if the staff were more proactive and polite about explaining this at check-in, as well as clearly directing guests on how to find the proper entrance.
So I would totally avoid this specific hotel in the future.
As a convenience, we booked the HGI Virginia Beach Ocean Front for three nights June 26-29, 2026 while helping move our son into the area.
Positives: The reservation/check in process went smoothly and staff were courteous and helpful. Our room was clean and it had a wonderful view of the ocean (309). The hotel itself was also clean and it’s location is perfectly situated in the area (food, shopping, fun) with immediate access to the boardwalk, beach and ocean.
Negatives: The stay was expensive at 1500$ US. Moreover, I’ve NEVER experienced such constant bothersome noise anywhere in the world. First, when the air conditioning unit ran, which was often given the area temps, it was so loud that it drowned out the TV, Ocean, conversation and everything else for that matter. It also blew cold air so strongly that you felt like you had a fan blowing directly on you. I took a video to share with others…”serious white noise” was one response. The hotel was extremely busy with beach goers toting everything from coolers to carts with umbrellas, towels, water wings and beach chairs. Utilizing the elevator could get tight. There was also a wedding party at the hotel and on the night of their big day we all took part because you could hear every song they played during the late night celebration. And yes, they played that song. I took a video of that as well. And the drunks and loud guests in the hallway operated at all hours. One fellow pounded on our door, shaking us awake, demanding to be let in…to the wrong room obviously. We never had a quiet night’s rest. Lastly, our room was nice and it had a small balcony with chairs and table….but it was on the same level as the guest viewing deck. So while having morning coffee random strangers can walk right past. They could also look directly into your room when the curtains were pulled back so we found ourselves closing them regularly which negated the ocean view.
Recommendation: I would not stay here again or recommend the location to family and friends. Just too busy, noisy and expensive for us. Beach or no beach.
The property is wonderful!! The food is amazing and Ronnie in Valet is a superstar. Ronnie was attentive and an excellent resource for information about the area. It is my recommendation that if there is an employee of the month program, he certainly must be recognized.
Thank you,
James
Rachel is our favorite server at Lager Heads! She is friendly, knowledgeable about the menu and makes great recommendations!! We visit the area yearly and always look forward to our meal at Lager Heads and Rachel’s awesome service.
Ronnie Powell the Valet was the best during our entire trip. He took good care of us!!
Our Server Rya J was excellent 👍. Smiling and happy to please
My room was cleaned daily and the beachview
Pool was too cold
Amazing++
We had such a fun time .
Shawn Brooke was an awesome waiter!!!
Shawn B was absolutely awesome!!!!!!
Shawn was great! Definitely would come again!
Comfortable beds.
Great location and view.
Room size was good.
Good breakfast and very friendly staff.
Great exterior seating on the patio facing the boardwalk. Loved the rocking chairs.
First day of arrival (6/18/26):
We waited in the hallway 20 mins approx. with luggage for Eddie, maintenance man to arrive and grant us entry to our room due to room lock malfunction. (Mr. Eddie was very friendly.)
Same day, had to request a new frig because it was not working. Mr. Eddie changed it out with another frig that did get cold.
Same day, Mr. Eddie also had to tighten our wobbly toilet.
Same day, I had to request additional sets of towels. If there are 4 lodging, there should be 4 washcloths, 4 hand towels, and 4 towels unprompted. I had to requests every day.
Same day, the slider to the terrace was very hard to push open.
The chairs on the terrace are not comfortable, and the round table is not a good fit for such a small terrace.
6/19/26 the elevator was broken. We had to climb 7 flights of stairs. That affected our activity for a few hours that day.
6/20/26 Indoor pool full of debris. The pool looked dirty.
6/21/26 there were two different customers with 2 service dogs. The guest seated to the left had a dog laying in the floor. I literally stopped my husband from stepping in the dog whose brown coat matched the flooring. The guest on the right side had a dog blocking the path on the right side. It was like a maze that day due to the entry way to the breakfast area being baracaded by dogs. Staff should be trained on where and how to properly seat them.
You need more seating in the bedrooms, and more pillows on the beds.
The lobby furniture (couches) need updating.
The restroom in the lobby (women) smelled like urine. The men's rested had vomit in the sink.
You need more luggage carts to accomodate guests.
Staff cleaning rooms should not be tying up guest elevators. Is that the reason they were broken? Don't they have service elevators???
Valet parking is $30/day. Tips are voluntary not mandatory. Why is valet staff asking for tips?
The room and facilities
The wait time for the Valet was too long
My husband and I came down for point break and stayed a couple days after. Monday, the 22nd of June, we decided were doing our exploring of the area. Walked from 10th street to the boardwalk and popped in Lager Heads. Our server, Shawn B was Amazing, if I had put it into words. He was personable and genuine. He asked us where we were from and connected with us on a personal level. He even recommended a few artists to check out and some activities in the area! Definitely an experience that will cause us to return in the future. Thank you Shawn for your hospitality and recommendations! We wish we had a way to connect with you!p
My stay at the Hilton Garden Inn was very nice the staff was friendly and the hotel was very clean. Ronnie the valet guy was very helpful and pleasant. He does a very good job.
