The Backyard Hotel

Clean rooms great staff. Very relaxing and quiet

The hotel is simple, it is clean and it is accesible. It is a pretty place and a nice beach for surfing. It is not one of Costa Rica's most beautiful beaches, but to see friends and spend some time close to the city, this place is very nice.

Nice and private, big rooms. Walking to the beach

Small parking lot with a gate, kind of a pain. Right off main highway noisy. Positive is it’s right on Playa Hermosa so good place for solid waves to share with locals and gringo boomers who are glad to tell you how long they’ve been coming down there ;)

Pretty nice place for a quite time!

A small desk was missing if you need to work remotely.

Can’t say enough good words about this place. Right on the ocean, great break right out in the back yard. Walkable to several restaurants down the beach. Will absolutely be coming back.

Staff were great, perfect for a couple days at the beach. Two-three restaurants and a minisuper in walking distance.

The photos accurately depict the property. Casual environment with a limited number of rooms provide a quiet retreat right at the beach. There are a few restaurants conveniently located near by but downtown Jaco is a short drive away.

Property was great. Nice pool, comfortable beds. Cold air. Safe. There is no restaurant or bar on property. You have to walk a short distance to other hotels if you want to eat. Good experience

The Backyard hotel was a quaint, quiet, and well kept property right on the beach and within walking distance to a few dining options. We really enjoyed our stay!

This property is very well kept, Draco one of the dogs loves playing with Sticks. My son had the best time playing with him. The breakfast they cooked and delivered to the room was fresh and amazing. Close to the town.

Stayed here with my family of 4. We had a great time. Staff was very friendly, restaurants and convenience stores nearby. Beach is literally right outside, beware of rip currents. Surfers paradise!

The backyard is really amazing, with a nice pool and wonderful view to the beach. Unfortunately they can’t offer breakfast. It isn’t a modern house but it’s in good conditions.

DO NOT STAY IN ROOM 205!!! THE HOTEL IS LOCATED ON THE HWY AND ROOM 205 IS THE NOISE BUFFER FOR THE ENTIRE PROPERTY. TRUCKS WERE ENGINE BRAKING ALL NIGHT LONG. MOTORCYCLES SCREAMING BY ALL NIGHT LONG. IT WAS NOT A VACATION. IF YOU ARE MAKING A RESERVATION, CONFIRM WITH THE HOTEL YOU ARE NOT STAYING IN ROOM 205. I CONTACTED THE MANAGER AND THEY DID NOT REPLY. THEY DO NOT CARE.

Otherwise as long as you’re ok with hanging out with large iguanas and python snakes, you should be fine.

Nice property right on the ocean

The people were friendly but we did have many ants in our room
