Just a classic place!
Pros:

I love the vibe of the whole place. The beds were nice and our view was great.

Cons:

You could see someone maintenance especially the elevator. We avoided one because we didn’t feel great in it

Hawthorne Hotel is the perfect place to stay right in the heart of Salem
Pros:

The coffee was wonderful and the tavern magnificent. I really appreciate how the hotel was preserved, honoring the history and original design.

Cons:

The only suggestion would be to have a small store to purchase things in addition to the vending machine

Comfiest beds!
Pros:

The beds, linens, and pillows were some of the comfiest I have experienced at a hotel. Very beautiful, very historic. Within walking distance of nearly everything which is why I initially booked there. Our room even had a view of the witch museum, and added to the vibes.

Cons:

Parking can be a little annoying. One of the lots was closed for event parking, so I had to pay to park in the parking garage until later in the day.

Overall a good stay. Food was just ok. We ate at both restaurants.
Pros:

Great location. Historical.

Cons:

Rooms are very small. Toiletries are clearly being reused…. Yuck! One even had its top missing.

Pros:

It was gorgeous but for the price there should of been breakfast or at least a discounted breakfast. I really loved old places and it was what I expected.

Cons:

There was no fridge in the room. That may take away from the look but it would be nice to be able to chill wine or be able to purchase refrigerated items. There was no ice buckets that I could see either.

Cons:

A 10 minute walk to the YMCA to only be turned away because I didn’t have the proper footwear to use their gym. The room was so tiny.

Great stay at the Hawthorne Hotel and a great location.
Pros:

We loved the history of the hotel and the central location to downtown Salem. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The hotel had a great atmosphere.

Cons:

I felt like cleaning of the rooms could have been a bit better. The bathtub was peeling, as well. Some things could do with a little bit of an update.

Fantastic food, beds and location!
Pros:

Old world, classy vibe. Super nice staff at front desk and in the restaurant. Our room was lovely and the bathroom had a nice, deep tub. Great shower, fairly quiet AC. The one thing I sorta missed was a refrigerator in the room. The hotel is right in the middle of everything but still very quiet so you could nap/sleep. We would definitely stay here again.

Pros:

The 'olde-world' feel to the place. Wonderful location.

Cons:

It's looking very dated and needs a BIG overhaul to keep it going as the rooms and general decor are rough-round-the-edges now. The overhaul MUST be done sympathetically, though. The history and tradition of the place is the appeal!
