Staff was very nice & helpful! Beds were comfortable! Very clean rooms! A/C worked well!
The only thing, which didn’t bother me at all, was some of the furniture was older & showed some wear & tear.
Location close to town. Room was very clean and well kept. Staff very friendly.
Property was in the middle of a renovation. Parts of the facility were closed off. Breakfast was held in a tiny room where you also check in. I realize this will be done at some point in time. I thought the rate was a bit pricey for not being a major town. My hotel in the big city of Des Moines had a rate less expensive than this facility.
The staff were very helpful and considerate, especially Sue.
All windows were covered with film so there was no view. The entire hotel was undergoing renovation so the outside light on the west side was not working. When I took my dog out for the last time at night, I was approached in pitch black by a stranger which shook me up completely as there was NO one around - staff left hotel at 9 pm so no staff around.
Charging $40 for a pet was outrageous considering the renovation and overall it was very expensive for what you get - no pool, spa, or even around any conveniences.
I liked this little hotel overall. It was quiet, really clean, and in a great spot. I really like the key code door entry system versus having to carry a key. Very convenient. I appreciated the cart of “extras” setting in the lobby since it wasn’t staffed. I was able to pick up the extra towel and wash clothes I knew I would need for my stay as well as other supplies were available.
Considering we were told before booking that the hotel was undergoing re-model, I was shocked at how clean and neat our room, the lobby and the stairways were! I couldn’t tell whether my room had been remodeled or not, except the pictures indicated the rooms were going to the vinyl wood-plank flooring. I thought the carpets in the stairwells and rooms was plenty clean and comfortable.
Check out was super easy on Sunday morning.
I was a little disappointed it didn’t offer any travel brochures about the covered bridges or provide any information about the covered bridge app since it was called “Covered Bridge Inn”. I arrived just after the front desk closed, so calling in to get my entry code was not a bad way to go. I was disappointed that the breakfast room only had two sets of table/chairs, but ultimately that’s all it needed. Very disappointed the room only had one chair at the table in the room. (We moved the table to the bed so I used the side of the bed for my chair.)
Could have bacon as a breakfast meat option, but otherwise breakfast was a surprise! I thought when I booked this hotel did not offer breakfast, and at check in, they said they offered a continental breakfast. So that was great!
A quaint place to stay. Breakfast was good with a variety of food.
Needed plugs by both beds.
Location for the scenic of the covered bridges.
Staff very friendly and helpful
The most friendly welcoming hotel ive ever stayed at. Clean, tidy, huge rooms. Just wonderful
A vending machine for snacks
Staff was available and helpful during the entire stay!
Ice machine was unavailable.
Staff was very accommodating/friendly/knowledgeable! Apologized for construction, but really no need, very clean,& no problems, except no ice machine, but she explained if we wanted ice just come up front & she would get for us. She was a peach😇 Spent 2 nights was very good! We liked that bathrm & sink area was separate. My husband liked the fact the light switch was inside the bathrm & could shut door & not outside of it. I liked the big mirrors. Only 1 night stand, think there should be 2. Only complaint I have was bed was really low & kinda hard. Pillows were great! But I mentioned the bed & morning gal said those are being replaced, so👍👍 on that. They also have a hot brkft, saw it, but didnt eat it as we had other plans. We definitely will stay there next time we are in Winterset!❤️ Can't wait to see their new updates! Easy to find on edge of town. Just can't say enough about the staff, & we could understand them👍👍
Bed was too low & kinda hard, but as I stated b4, they are replacing, only 1 night stand.
