San Jose downtown - not worth the stay
Pros:

Breakfast ok, charming inside, newly redone room, floors, bathroom, nice decor, comfortable beds.
Great bang for buck. Location is not for the anxious type however.

Cons:

I asked for a chair for my room so I could sit and read. The answer was a hard no / explanation - for safety reasons. I worked in emergency management for Transport Canada and unless the chair would have been blocking an exit, we’d ridicule such an answer
Please put a box of paper tissue in the room and a couple of glasses.
I found the “manager” stand offish at first. Personnel polite, professional.
This is not on the hotel, but the city is not anything like in the photos - rundown, dirty, broken up and narrow sidewalks, speeding cars (now that’s a safety concern) The downtown is not attractive at all.

I will never stay in that hotel again.
Pros:

The room was clean and big. In the morning there was a different receptionist. He was kind.

Cons:

The receptionist was very rude. He tried to overcharge me for the room. When I contested he threatened to throw me out. Then he called his boss. And he kept hiding the room keys as a threat!
I had to drag my luggage 2 flights of stairs. When I arrived the door of my room was wide open. It turns out that the door doesn’t lock! The room has a huge window with a thin curtain towards the hallway. Anyone can see inside if they come in front of the room. I was so stressed I woke up at 2 am and stayed awake until I left.

El Hotel Colonial es fantástico, su ubicación es genial dando un paseo agradable llegarás al centro de San José, El Museo Nacional está a cinco minutos
El personal es fantástico y el desayuno es extraordinario.
Sin duda repetiremos.

Hotel con buena ubicación
Pros:

Buen servicio, buena ubicacion. El personal muy servicial.

Cons:

El desayuno deberia mejorar solo ofrecian tostadas y cereal. Tambien las almohadas de las habitaciones son demaciado blandas. Todo lo demas muy bien.

Pros:

Adequate value for money. Beds are comfortable.

Cons:

The area has gone down. Homeless people sleeping on the street across the road from the hotel. The breakfast is not good: eggs are cold and you have to ask for everything as the young gals there are not on top of things. You can hear the people in the next room talking on the phone and to each other.

Ich würde wahrscheinlich wiederkommen, die Lage zur Innenstadt
Pros:

Sehr zentral in der Innenstadt; hat ein Restaurant das Lunch und Abendessen anbot, was von der Qualität her ok war und superpraktisch wenn man grad ankommt und nicht nochmals raus will.
Die Recepionisten (beide) waren überaus hilfsbereit, das war echt super! Das Zimmer Nr 26 ist zwar grad an der Strasse, dafür aber super geräumig mit einem sehr bequemen Bett!

Der Strassenlärm - aber da hätte ich mich im Vorfeld informieren müssen,

La dame a l accueil pas très accueilante en arrivant à 20h on a vite compris que ça la dérangeait
Le lendemain on devait partir à 7h ( avion oblige) la même personne que la veille n a pas voulu que l on déjeune même de boire un café car le petit déjeuner commence à 7h merci madame en plus il était inclus dans le prix de la chambre
Après chambre très bien confortable….

Hotel colonial muy bonito y personal amable
Pros:

La habitación en la que me hospedé era amplia, el baño grande y el armario inmenso. El aire acondicionado funcionó perfectamente. El alojamiento esta cerca del Museo de Jade, del Museo del Banco Central y del barrio chino. El personal es increíble. Siempre muy atentos y con buena actitud. Te van a ayudar en todo lo que necesites. Es gente muy amable. El desayuno está bien. La casa es muy bonita.

Cons:

Por el precio por noche que pagué esperaba tener una botella de agua de cortesía en la habitación o que no me limiten el número de jabones. Por ejemplo, me daban solo uno para el lavabo y la bañera. Las ventanas están mal aisladas por lo que se escucha el ruido de la calle. A la noche el barrio es un poco tenebroso. La piscina estaba sucia y no se limpiaba a diario.
