Nice, comfortable room in close proximity to city centre. Staff member was friendly and the hotel was quirky with a nice style. Bar offers a nice space for a drink and breakfast was also very good.
Honestly, I read some reviews on here before I booked, and every review was so positive.
Now I can understand, the place is absolutely beautiful.
Room was exquisite and so quirky - we absolutely loved it.
Breakfast was also excellent.
Only a short walk into the lovely York, which was great fun.
We only stayed the one night as passing through, however, planning on coming down again in September and hoping we can stay in this hotel again.
Nothing negative to say about the Hotel at all, maybe 5 minutes closer to town centre but that's just me being stupid.
The hotel is in a very good location, close to the city centre. Everything clean, and the room and the hotel is beautifull.
The bed was a little bit short
Hotel in a great location, 10mins walk from York centre. Parking at the hotel.
Very clean room, lovely chilled bar and lounge and really good breakfast.
Cant fault it!
One suggestion - maybe fruit and yoghurt at breakfast?
Really enjoyed my stay. Was very relaxing. Home from home not like the average hotel. Good selection of drinks at the bar and in your room. Big dispensers of shampoo/body wash, conditioner, hand soap and body lotion in my Queen room. The Queen room is perfect for one guest. Absolutely delicious breakfasts. Very friendly staff. Will definitely return on my next visit to York.
Location excellent, room very clean and comfortable, lounge beautiful, staff very friendly. And teddy the 🐈 just adorable.
The floor boards in the room very creaky but the age of the house that has to be expected. But that being said wouldn't put me off going back..
Very comfortable room, quiet and excellent shower facility. Breakfast was excellent and good choice.
A minor irritation is that the clothes cupboard does not have enough clothes hangers for more than an overnight stay
Been to many B&B's in over 45 years across the UK and beyond and came to Clementines based on what looked like worth a try based on the channel 4 four in a bed programme feature of the hotel. First impressions count a lot and mine was not helped by finding previous occupants towel had not been taken away from the bathroom and a cascade of dust particles floating in the air (as you moved around the room / the following day my Mac tablet covered in settled dust too). Toilet paper was not the quality expected from a B&B charging the rates they do too (owners should always ensure the toilet paper used in their rooms is of a quality you would use in your own house). Breakfast was a mixed bag bacon not the tastiest, sausages a little grisly and not the widest of cold options to start off before the hot part too. It was harder than it should have been to to get the room temperature right (main heating came from towel rail that was scalding hot so it was a case of opening the balcony door to let cooler air in and closing the bathroom door in the right order (what happened to an obvious room thermostat. that allows simple control of temperature?). Running the cold water tap to get a cold drink you have to waste a lot of water as it runs warm for too long (probably hot and cold pipes too close together in the building structure so a mini fridge in the room with bottled water could be a better option. The room, rowntree suite, would benefit from having some coat hooks on the back of the room door as the hanging space cupboard was not deep enough. Overall the bed was comfortable but the rest of the experience was not for me what i have had from many B&B's charging a lot less in other parts of York and beyond.
Location was good, just a short walk into the centre. Hotel was cool and chic. Staff were friendly and attentive. Teddy the cat was a lovely touch.
Struggled with lighting in room when getting ready it was really dark. Extractor fan and towel rail in bathroom both broke so room filled with steam and condensation.
We didn’t have breakfast. Location excellent.
Different, lovely staff
Our room didn’t have window and was dark
Exceptionally clean , very different , quirky , everywhere you looked the was something new and different, beautifully presented and very well put together while keeping original features, what a place , I loved it ❤️
There is nothing not to like !
Breakfast and location were both very good .
Not getting to check in until 4 isn't good especially when you give travelled a distance and then to charge for parking at the hotel in there own car park is very poor and at 15 becomes ridiculous on top of the room cost not good
Clean, different, good location
Nothing
Everything was top class. Luxury facilities and luxury breakfast to match.
We came by train so £20 in taxi fares outweighed the £45 parking charges the venue would have charged. You pay a premium price for the facilities so the expectation was that parking should be included.
The decor, the staff, it felt very warm even with the front door left open and a couple of the windows on the stairs open letting in fresh air but still staying warm. Bedroom was small but had enough space to have everything you would need. Bathroom felt luxurious and clean. A comfy an quite nights sleep. Would definitely recommend and would stay here again.
I couldn't say I didn't like anything, but if I had to give constructive criticism. We had an empty bottle of shower gel. The English breakfast had under cooked bacon, the black pudding was very soggy and the sausages were not the best. But that is just my opinion and everyone has their own individual taste and preferences.
