3100 Kulmhotel Gornergrat

The Kulm is unique but I think folks would be better off staying in Zermatt proper. The altitude is just over 10,500 feet, there is no “village” and the food was just ok.

Absolutely amazing, it was beyond incredible. Room with Matterhorn view was spectacular, tower room had tons of windows & views everywhere. Breakfast & dinners were included in reservation & creativity and variety was delicious. The pastries were the best I’ve had! So many folks working at hotel were kind, helpful & entertaining. Robin particularly made excellent suggestions on ski runs & restaurants, he really went out of his way. It’s at elevation though & mountain sickness is no joke! Definitely buy ski pass daily which includes all trains & gondolas for less than train tickets alone. We were Beginning & advanced skier couple and we both had a great experience. Thank you for a memorable trip!

The view from the room is absolutely breathtaking! You can see the majestic mountains such as Matterhorn, Monte Rosa, and more around the hotel😍🏔️

Excellent service, amazing location, and nice food.

I would definitely recommend this hotel for a nights stay, being that close to the Matterhorn at night and first thing in the morning was magical. The food and service was excellent and the staff were all friendly and welcoming. Just be aware that when booking this hotel you still have to pay for your ticket on the train to get to the location and that adds some significant additional cost and so you need to plan accordingly. For this reason I would recommend a single nights stay rather than multiple nights unless you are hiking the mountains over a few days and want to use this as your base. The observatory is open in October and December if you are looking to take advantage of that.

Fühlten uns wie Fremde im eigenen Land. Nur englisch sprechendes Personal. Sehr sehr schade. Erwarten anderes in einem Berghotel in der Deutschschweiz!Da ist definitiv noch Luft nach oben…Der Aufenthalt war bis auf einen Stromunterbruch von 2,5 Stunden sonst in Ordnung.

mais pourquoi, dans un cadre aussi exceptionnel, laisser de la musique en extérieur autour de l'hôtel, après 16h quand les touristes ont déserté la terrasse et jusque 19h ?

C’était juste sublime. On a eu une chambre vue Cervin avec un grand balcon. Le personnel adorable, les repas vraiment bien dans une salle feutré. A refaire

Absolutely loved our two night stay. The hotel is quiet, comfortable and dinner was beautiful in both nights. We didn't avail of all it had to offer as we didn't visit the observatory.
The only downside (if you consider it as such) is that the hotel is NOT in Zermatt.
It is actually at the end of a train journey up into the mountains. The train terminates at the start of a ski run and the only other thing up there is the Matterhorn Zoom museum, which is included in the price of the train ticket.
The train is not cheap! It cost us a total of €106 for a return trip for two. This was half price as we had a Swiss rail four day rambler ticket.
That having been said In our opinion ut was absolutely worth the money. The viewes are the best I have seen even compared to everywhere else I've been.

Very nice View to the Matterhorn from the room. The rooms smell like wood and are in the alps style.

The overall experience was very nice. Also the staff was friendly.

By chance get a table near the window to see the sunset at the matterhorn at dinner.

If the sky is clear set an alarm for the night to see the stars

Well - the location and views are amazing though that´s it. The hotel is offering a basic experience for the rate of a 5* luxury hotel. It reminded me about 40 years ago when I´ve stayed last time in a youth hostel. Small rooms, worn out furniture, old mattress which are noth worth € 700,-/night. It is better to stay in a comfortable hotel in Zermatt and only go up to the Gornergrat area for the views of the Matterhorn.
