The Hotel is right at the heart of the city. Staff was helpful.
When i reached hotel in night they say thee is no booking. i had to wait for more than 30 minutes for this. After this they gave me key of room which was occupied, after this they gave me another key which was also occupied. Than finally i spoke to manager on phone and than gave me room which was renovated with smell. i had no option to stay back. Next day they shifted me too another room.
Also on check out reception was showing me invoice to pay, i told them its already paid during booking and than it took time to again check.
Overall hotel is nice, with central location but lapse in management. Only their watchman( Gurkha) is kind enough to help and understand.
Saw good reviews but not good as accepting
Room is very noisy. We pay for 4 star but we didn’t sleep whole night because of disturbness
Building is at bussy roods and crowded.
Most disappointed point is
Bathroom is very very dirty
There is no tissue ,no slippers
Breakfast is very bad
I don’t recommend this hotel in this price
Hotel is suitable for £10 dollars price
1. Business Hotel but internet not working.
2. Rooms with no room no.
Overall experience not very good, so check out one day early.
Experience is too ugly. Air conditioning system doesn't work afte 11 pm. They charge 116 dollar but performance too poor. Really really disappointed
Visited again this February. Hospitality and staff remains good but the welcome addition is that during the power cuts, ACs work now (much required in the cold weather to warm up the room). Remains a good choice if you are a budget traveler. It is very close to all prime locations in Kathmandu.
Stayed for couple of night. The location is prime all places are easily accessible from this place. rooms are basic & old under renovation. This hotel really require complete renovation.
They do have coffee shop & restaurant at ground floor which is average. Durbar marg is at 5 min walking distance.
Overall good for business travel & would not recommend for family with kids
Great room, standard breakfast fare, great room, and staff supper helpful. Would be helpful if they provided a free shuttle to the airport, but other then that I was well satisfied. I loved the fact that they had an elevator. Restaurant food, attached to the hotel, was a great value for the money. However, somethings stated on the menu were not available.
Staff was very friendly , room was big and very clean and comfortable , breakfast was super good , staff planned our trip to Pokara, Lumbini and Kathmandu it was really good and well planned . have recommended to many people . will definetly come back to this hotel
The hotel is not the fancy one, however it is centrally located and the staff were very nice. It might be good for a few days stay in Kathmandu before your journey to other part of Nepal. On the way back, I stayed one more night, then they gave me the fourth-floor room having a kitchen and living room with the same price as the standard one.. It was great.
The staff was very nice. I stayed before I left for a trek and I was upset with the WiFi speed as it seemed to be out quite a bit and the shower pressure in my room was horrible. Once I came back from my trek I was put in a different room and the WiFi was better and the shower pressure was great.
There is a coffee shop attached to the hotel so that is nice. If you plan on sleeping in.... good luck! As the traffic on the street was very loud. It was quiet enough at night but was very loud throughout the day.
Thamel, the tourist district, is within walking distance. There is a KFC and Pizza Hut close by if you get tired of eating dalbat and local food. Thamel by taxi is 200 rupees and 300-400 rupees to the airport. Get the hotel lobby guys to get a taxi for you as the taxi will quote them a lower price. If you get one yourself you will have to talk them down because they will start twice the normal rate because you are a tourist.
We stayed at this hotel for a few days before and after our trekking in Himalayas.
The hotel is satisfactory, provided me with comfortable stay.
The hotel is in central localization, not far to airport and touristic attraction., There were no trouble with electricity and warm water, good quality of wi-fi and tv. The rooms were spacious and comfortable, for me beds are also comfortable.
The coffee shop with breakfast served only a few set options, but they are good prepared, restaurant serves really good food for reasonable price.
The staff are wonderful, very helpful and honest. I recommended this hotel to others. I will return to this hotel on my next visit under similar circumstances, I have a great memory of this hotel, especially staff.
Stayed September /October 2014.
Washroom flush not working!!!!
The reception staff gives you the worst room (backyard facing with washroom flush not working) first even if the hotel is empty! Security Guards and room service guys are good though.
The place is average, though you might not find a space to park your car.
The staff was helpful in getting our flights to Pokhara and hotel reservation too.
Don't forget to use their restaurant as it serves really good food.
i stayed at marcopolo for 2 nights, and had a quite pleasant experience..except few improvements which the hotel needs to make.
The room was quite cozy and comfortable. However, i was in a bit of shock when i looked at the bathroom..which was way below the level i had expected after looking at the room, with dirty flooring and old showers and taps.
the food was good. The hotel staff were quite friendly and helped me to tell locations where i could shop.
Overall, an average hotel. Good for an economic stay.
Have stayed at this Hotel in Oct-Nov 2011 and found that except the location, friendly/helpful staff and Coffee Talk there wasn't anything good that I remember of Marcopolo Business Hotel!!
The double room I had checked in was small but that wasn't much of hassle as I was travelling alone on business. Things I did not like about the Hotel were size of bathroom (especially the shower area not more than 2 feet’s by 2 feet’s), lack of own kitchen, noises as it is based on a busy crossing and a few cockroaches here and there.
Not sure how if any of these issues could have been resolved as there isn’t any scope of doing so…..in terms of location or size of rooms etc.
We stayed at this hotel at the start of our time in kathmandu for a few days. The staff are wonderful and really make your stay as enjoyable as they can. The hotel is completely satisfactory. The coffee shop downstairs is great! It has hot water which in nepal is a definite advantage. The only drawback to this hotel is the bed was rock hard!! So hard we had sore backs!!! Plus a couple of cockroaches but hey its nepal!! I could live with that. Due to the hard bed we chose to stay at a different hotel on our return to kathmandu. If only the bed had been comfortable! !
Located centrally in Kathmandu in Kamladi area is truly value for money hotel. An ideal place for those visiting Kathmandu on business. The rooms are spacious and well maintained and the staff are friendly and helpful. The hotel has a coffee shop"Coffee Talk" and a multi cuisine restaurant "Golden Spoon". The hotel is just 500 meters away from Kingsway or Durbar marg which has many restaurants and shopping outlets. for those of whom who have been accustomed to staying at Hotel Ambassador in Kathmandu which has been demolished now this Hotel would make the best alternative as the room interiors remind of Ambassador. The same management runs this hotel also. The coffee shop serves the morning breakfast which is included in the package, the breakfast options albeit limited which include eggs made to order with toast and coffee. The multi cuisine restaurant also serves good food.
Recently we had a chance to stay in Hotel marcopolo, kathmandu, nepal. The rooms conditions are not very good. Most of the rooms were having sepage and smells. We shifted twice, and still not very satisfactory. The only advantage of the hotel is the central location. However the hotel is not having much facilities for the children, if you are going to stay with the family. It is more like a business hotel.
I stayed there for 4 nights, overall OK hotel and decent rooms. Just one big drawback is very SLOW SERVICE. Is located in the heart of the city, cabs are available when you get out of the hotel..
You get free Wireless internet connection in the hotel, which is the best part of the hotel..
