Last weekend me and my girlfriend booked these apartments on a last minute decision. Other places were full so we were happy to find this place. We figured out afterwards why this was the only one available. We went into the lobby around 7pm only to find the receptionist listening to music on his iPhone and earphones plugged to his ears. He wasn't native Cypriot so we spoke to him in English, which he barely knew either. He gave us the keys to the apartments after we were told to pre-pay. We left our things in our flat and went for dinner, not giving any attention to anything inside the room. After we came back we noticed that the bedsheets and the towels were all used/dirty, the curtains which were right next to the beds were also dirty. The toilet and bathtub seemed to be not cleaned for the past month and there were used contact lenses left out under the sink mirror, from the previous people staying there. The room was cold and the a/c was not working. The was not strong enough to reach the 3rd floor that we were staying. When we told the receptionist all this, he came to change the bedsheets and the towels, telling us that probably the cleaner did not pay much attention. That was his excuse! He also said that apparently the a/c does not work in this specific room and the WIFI only works in the lobby.
This was our worst ever stay and I recommend that no one ever stays there again. Just a heads up.
Excellent location! Very friendly staff.
Uncomfortable beds and noisy area
My partner and I stayed at the Valana from 5th September 2017 for 2 weeks. We had stayed here before about 7 years ago and loved it. We was looking so forward to it. On our Arrival first impressions were good ,reception looked clean and well looked after. We was lead by one of the brother who owned the hotel, to a Block called "Block A". This was where we knew we had made a mistake booking this hotel, the grounds out side Block A looked in disrepair, we was shown to our room were on entering we was very disappointed, as the first thing we saw was there was knobs missing off cupboards, on further inspection, the kitchen sink was grimy and the taps looked like they hadn't been cleaned in months. The fridge had dirty finger marks on the outside and needed a clean on the inside. The utensils in the draws looked used and unclean and the floor hadn't been swept. Entering the bathroom was the most shocking. The shower cubicle was broken and had no door on it, the shower unit it's self looked ancient, again the taps were grimy. In the living area were two settees, both had holes in them. The television was very old and you could only get 4 channels that you couldn't tune in properly, though they do advertise cable channels. Our apartment was a one bedroom. On entering the bedroom was just jaw dropping. Once again the Cupboards had Knobs missing, the air-conditioner unit was half hanging off the wall. The bed sheets had holes in them and the pillows looked liked someone had been slobbering all over them. With in 20 minutes of walking around the apartment we decided to complain to management. At reception a young lady told us there would be no other room available till the next day and she assured us we would be able to move rooms. We stayed over night in the room and was woken at 7am by work men working opposite our bedroom window on a building site. On their website it says all rooms have black out curtains and sound proof rooms which our curtains and rooms certainty was not. In the morning we returned to reception and was told by one of the brothers "a room will be available after 4pm that day and to come back any time after 4pm". We returned again round 5pm to reception only to be told by the father who is the owner, that we were to late and that the cleaners had all gone home. After a discussion the owner gave in and abruptly gave me a key to another apartment. We entered our new apartment and was pleased. It had a nice size living area with air-con. A two seater settee/sofa bed. Another old Tv, this one had 10 channel with only 1 English channel. In the kitchen, though we was bed & Breakfast was very disappointing. In the cupboard was 2 cups, 2 saucers and 2 small glasses. In another cupboard was just the one plate. The knives and forks were clean but the draw they sat in was badly stained. Two of the wardrobes in the bedroom had broken handles, but the safe inside the wardrobe was very good and a nice size. Maid service, there wasn't one except when they bought us towels that looked liked they had been already used. The room was never swept and there was popcorn and other bits on the floor that was there for the whole two weeks we stayed. We had to keep asking for toilet roll and at one point we had to empty our own bin and ask for a new bin liner. In the hallway, where we placed our bin bag in hopes the cleaner would take, was a a settee that people had to pass to get to the lift, which would cause a health and safety hazard if there ever was to be a fire. There was a so called wheelchair ramp made out of wood and was badly in disrepair, which had nails protruding out and looked very unstable. The pool area was the worst I have ever seen, the pool was a green colour and you couldn't see the bottom in the deep end. Some of the sunbeds were disgusting. The ones with blue cushions on had dirty Staines and bird poo on them that was never cleaned. There was a girl who came out every morning to move the sunbeds back in to position, but not once did she clean them and she just turned cushions over that had bird poo on them. Stray cats were all round the pool area and were always using the bushes behind sunbeds as there toilet and causing a lot of flies around the area that kept buzzing and landing on you The only times we saw people cleaning the pool was when we found out to our surprise that there was a wedding arranged that we had no knowledge of on a Saturday night. The wedding started at 6pm and went on till 1am. The music was so loud we could hear it clearly in the room with all windows and doors closed. The following Saturday we got up and sat on the balcony for our early morning tea when vans started showing up. We watched as they started to set up a stage in the pool. Once (AGAIN) there was another wedding that we had no knowledge of. We asked the owner what was going on and he told us it was his daughters wedding and that the pool area would not be in use for the day. The music started at 2pm and went on again till 1am. So if you see the pool being cleaned expect a wedding. We will never be returning to the Valana again, which a shame as it use to be a lovely hotel which has now gone in to ruin since new ownership.
We booked last minute and were looking forward to a nice relaxing holiday. We double checked the room had air con at reception and were told yes. We were shown to the lift at the bottom of the block and left to find our room from there. The room was large and spacious with a good sized kitchen. We dropped our suitcases off and went out for the day. When we came back we checked the room out fully and can only describe it as a filthy pit. The mattress and bedding was stained, the floor hadn't been swept in quite a while and the bathroom was in a poor state of repair and hygiene. The cooker didn't look like it had ever been cleaned and the kitchen consisted of 1 saucepan, a couple of plates and half a cutlery set. First thing the next morning I went down to complain about the state of the room and question the air conditioning that was blowing out hot air. I was told the room would be cleaned and the air conditioning would be checked. When I came back later that day the room hasn't been cleaned but they did collect the dirty under wear found under the bed. The air conditioning was working exactly the same. During the stay someone opposite decided to bring a dog into their room which bark most of the night. Couple this with the urine smell that we couldn't source or get rid of and needless to say, we will never stay here again!
Cons:
1. Location is understaffed in evenings. The hotel is quite large, and there is one man working the front desk, assisting with check-ins, dealing with guest complaints, and the like.
2. Our first night we had no air conditioning (a must in summer!) We changed rooms and the 2nd room also had no AC. No other rooms were available to change a 3rd time. We had a nice breeze at least. Happily, our complaint was noted and repairman came early next day.
3. Housekeeping is limited. We booked through Expedia and it was advertised as daily housekeeping. Not true. Housekeeping comes once every 3 days.
4. Beds are uncomfortable. Our poor backs!
5. Lighting is very poor around exterior and corridors. There are switches to turn on lights temporarily, but this is annoying.
6. Rooms are a bit beat up and worn, but reasonably clean.
7. Wifi is available in the room but very slow. Best to use wifi in reception and bar area.
Pros:
1. The cost. Extremely affordable.
2. Large rooms. We had a 2 room suite, with a kitchenette, and balcony. (Note that AC is only free in bedroom. To request AC in sitting area/living room, it costs extra.)
3. Good location. Easy walk to dining options to include American fast food as well as local bites, as well as nightlife options.
4. Free parking. We did have a car to explore outside of the area.
5. Quiet.
Bad service, dirty rooms,no cleaning service at all during whole week.No working wifi in building 3.I think pool was only one good thing in this hotel but most of the time it was occupied by local cyprus people because of the law, they can use all open pools in whole city. Never come back.
Städningen missades en gång (skulle vara 2 gånger i veckan). För övrigt bra städning. Internet hade för dålig kapacitet så det blev väldigt långsamt
The hotel was clean and very good. The location was good for me.
Nicely located hotel/pension in Limassol. The condition of the hotel isn't the best (for example the pool doesn't welcome you for a swim and the showers by the pool are broke) but it's low priced and functional.
The room was dirty. The fridge disgusting and the bathroom unbelievablly revolting. Bath had mold all around it and the shower curtain was covered in black mold. Outside on the balcony just dirt all over.
Having booked this hotel as the majority of trip advisor reviews were ok, I feel I should post my own recent experience. I arrived at this hotel last week with my husband and 5 year old son. First impressions on entrance were good, reception area looked clean. We were shown to our room with no info on breakfast, room service, general rules etc.
There were 2 rooms, one living and kitchen area and one twin. A bathroom was attached to the twin room and a balcony lead off from the living area. The third bed was a bed settee in the living area. The kitchen consisted of a fridge, 2 ring hob and basic cutlery and dishes. The living area initially looked clean however on further inspection it was far from it. The bed settees were both stained (and later on in to the stay I found a flea on one), the seals of the fridge were covered in black mould. The curtains had been half eaten by something so there were holes in the black out lining. The bedroom windows were filthy and the frames were caked in dust and mould. The bathroom ceiling was covered in black mould, as was the shower curtain. The shower head was covered in scale and biofilm. The toilet seat was broken and there was dirt round the base of the toilet, the toilet brush was completely unusable (I can't even describe what it was covered in).
Our first couple of days the weather was bad which meant there was no hot water (water heated by the sun). When the shower did work (I cleaned it myself before using), it leaked all over the bathroom floor which meant we had to use the towels to dry it. It turned out room service was only every 4 days so we had to wait till then to get new towels!
The 2 single beds were ok. The bed settee was terrible. My husband and myself had to share sleeping in it so we both got a good nights sleep. It was one that you just fold down the back and because it was worn, the seat part was lower and softer than the back bit so the bed was on 2 different levels, neither of which was wide enough to fit a person on.
The swimming pool was filthy. On the 4th day they cleaned and refilled the main pool (but not the baby pool) however the following day a floating scum appeared round the edge of the pool. On the 6th day they appeared to put some chlorine in the pool as I assume they were getting ready for the new season (we were visiting out of season). We found an immaculate pool just over the road at a place called Tycoons. They charge €3.
We only paid approx €25 a night for our hotel however I know that the prices shoot up during the holiday season. Personally, if I were a family, I would not touch this hotel with a barge pole however for a group of young lads who don't care about cleanliness and just need a place to crash this place would be ideal.
Η τοποθεσία είναι αρκετά καλή. Κοντά στον παραλιακό δρόμο και κοντά σε εστιατόρια
For almost the same money you can find x 10 better place. this one has 2 buildings - one is mega old, the oldest and poorest i ever stayed in. the other one has no wifi at all and has no available rooms. So i moved to another hotel and paid twice. The reception guise was very good people, but it couldn't change the fact this place is a bad bed place. Old, dirty for years furniture, poorest blanket ever, 1 charge point in another room, no bed side light, no TV, cold water, bad bed.
I stayed here for a week. I found the apartment to be worth the money for the most part, being that it is just down the street from the beach.
The hotel is locate close to the main avenue (and the sea) where you can take a bus to go to the city centre.
The apartment is old but quite spacious and it had a nice balcony overlooking the garden swimming pool. On the negative aspect, cleaning was the most negative aspect of it with the duvet having big stains on it. Also the pots and kettle seem quite old with scale/sediments on them, so I didn't use them
The apartment block is located in a quiet neighbourhood at the back of the tourist area of Limassol. There is ample parking space and lovely garden views from the balcony.
