Excellent room and breakfast, always friendly helpful staff at a PortoBay group hotel. There is also a roof terrace with a Jacuzzi
The weather (it rained most of the time!) but obviously that is not the fault of the hotel!
Ligging en uitstraling
All 6 of us agreed this was our best city break yet, and that is thanks to this Hotel. Upon arrival we had a bottle of sparkly with glasses - plates, knives, forks and napkins for a cake, complete with candle in honour of a 60th birthday. The service all staff gave, from reception to cleaning and waiting staff was top notch. Friendly, helpful and above and beyond. The rooms we had were superior twin rooms and couldn’t fault them for cleanliness and decor, the turn down service with chocolate was a bonus. The spa, gym and pool were amazing. We didn’t venture to the roof top bar due to the weather. Food and drinks were worthy of its 5* rating and the breakfast was the best any of us had had anywhere - particularly the eggs Benedict.
The location is a 20-30 minute walk from the old parts of Lisbon, but we used Bolt or hotel for cabs. They recommended some really great restaurants in the old town, which we all enjoyed.
It was quiet and the beds were very comfortable.
In a good location but is a 10-15 min walk to the centre ‘proper’. The rooms are comfortable and well appointed. There is building work ongoing opposite but this did not disturb us.
The breakfast is nice but a little repetitive
We stayed in the Portobay Marques last September and wanted to try the Liberdade after seeing the online promotion videos. Both the Marques and Liberdade are very handy for Parque Eduardo VII and not too far a walk either for El Corte Inglese, a huge 13 floor department store with a Metro station below. Best floor for me was the food floors, with eat in options better than any in the UK and far cheaper.
We were not disappointed, except by the somewhat rainy weather, but then again it was early February and we were expecting rain every day according to the forecasts so were quite surprised and pleased when most of every day of our stay was quite bright with only the occasional downpours, which luckily were pretty short so we only got caught once or twice. Our daughter lives in LIsbon so took us to several sites we didn't visit on our previous visit in September, including Pena Palace at Sintra and the small town of Cascais where she got married 10 years ago.
Getting a travel card that you load up is so much better that UK cities, with most trips costing only a couple of euros and this includes on buses, trams, metro, trains to areas outside the city and ferries. It's so easy to get around but when walking you must have good walking shoes. We learned from our last visit and paid dearly with our blisters so forked out for proper walking shoes and never had any problems this time. It must be said that with hills on many streets and smooth cobbled pavements, it's not easy for wheelchairs, buggies or those with limited mobility.
As for the hotel, it was spotless and the staff to nice and helpful, and our room overlooked the tree-lined street with a lovely balcony. The bed was firm and comfortable and bathroom fab.
We like to try different restaurants, especially as our daughter and her husband know so many, that we only ate in the hotel once, but the food was perfect.
As far as I'm concerned, we'll use the PortoBay every time we visit and are unlikely to look at any other.
Riesiges, reichhaltiges Frühstücksbuffet. Sehr freundliches Personal. Zimmer sauber und sehr bequemes Bett. Nespresso-Maschine in allen Zimmern
Vom Deluxe-Zimmer im 5 Sterne Hotel hätte ich etwas mehr erwartet aber es war sauber und funktional
Everything about the Portobay Liberdade exceeded our expectations. Impeccable service always with a smile; excellent rooms, bedding, and sleep quality; a great spa; a high-quality breakfast. Very highly recommnded

My stay at PortoBay Liberdade was absolutely excellent.
The hotel combines comfort, elegance, and outstanding service in a perfect location in Lisbon. The rooms are spacious, quiet, and extremely well maintained, offering a truly relaxing experience after a day in the city.
The staff deserves special recognition: always attentive, professional, and genuinely kind, making guests feel welcome from the very first moment.
Breakfast is varied and high quality.
Without a doubt, PortoBay Liberdade sets a high standard for hospitality. I highly recommend it and look forward to staying here again.
