Een mooi hotel met fijne faciliteiten en prachtige tuinen, maar de gastvrijheid, het onderhoud van de kinderfaciliteiten
Pros:

Het hotel heeft een mooi zwembad en een leuk glijbaantje in het kinderbad, wat erg fijn was met de kinderen van 2 en 6 jaar. De tuinen zijn prachtig en goed onderhouden en vooral ’s avonds erg sfeervol door de mooie verlichting.

De receptie heeft vriendelijk een surfles voor ons geregeld en geboekt. Het ontbijtbuffet was goed en uitgebreid, met erg vriendelijke en behulpzame obers. We kregen bovendien een gratis upgrade naar een kamer met terras, wat erg fijn was.

Ook erg fijn is dat het hotel strandstoelen beschikbaar stelt die je mee kunt nemen naar het strand. Dat vonden wij echt een pluspunt. De wc en douche bij het strand vonden we helaas wel wat smoezelig en zouden wat beter schoongemaakt mogen worden.

Cons:

Het ontvangst bij de receptie vonden wij helaas niet erg vriendelijk. Bij aankomst bleek er nog een flink bedrag aan belastingen bovenop de prijs te komen, terwijl dit voor ons bij de boeking via Booking.com niet duidelijk zichtbaar was. Toen we hiernaar vroegen, werd daar niet erg vriendelijk op gereageerd. Ook werd er geen hulp aangeboden om onze bagage naar de kamer te brengen.

Het restaurant vonden wij erg duur, waardoor we er uiteindelijk geen gebruik van hebben gemaakt. Dat vonden we jammer, want met wat redelijkere prijzen hadden we zeker meer gebruikgemaakt van de faciliteiten en service van het hotel. Ook kleine dingen waren opvallend prijzig; een ijsje kostte bijvoorbeeld ongeveer vier keer zoveel als in de supermarkt.

Positief is dat het hotel zwembad- en strandlakens beschikbaar stelt. Deze waren alleen zo klein dat wij uiteindelijk toch onze eigen handdoeken hebben gebruikt.

Voor gezinnen met jonge kinderen vonden we dat de speeltuin en het kinderbad beter onderhouden en schoongemaakt mogen worden. De trampoline lag voortdurend vol met bladeren en ander vuil en bij het speeltoestel zat een spijker los. Nadat ik dit bij het personeel had aangegeven, werd dit gelukkig wel snel opgelost. De ondergrond van de speeltuin bestaat uit vrij grote, pijnlijke kiezels, wat naar onze mening niet erg geschikt of veilig is voor kleine kinderen.

Ook het kinderbad leek niet dagelijks goed schoongemaakt te worden, aangezien er regelmatig zand en bladeren in lagen.

Al met al zijn er zeker fijne faciliteiten, maar met wat meer aandacht voor gastvrijheid, onderhoud en een redelijker prijsniveau voor eten en drinken had onze ervaring een stuk positiever kunnen zijn.

Houd er rekening mee dat het hotel ligt bij Playa Carrillo, niet Samara. Voor activiteiten, geld pinnen etc is dat welke keer 15-20 min rijden.

The property itself is beautiful, and the pool and restaurant staff were consistently warm, attentive, and a genuine highlight of our stay. Their kindness made the time with my son and my parents feel special.

Cons:

Front desk staff verbally confirmed on multiple occasions that I’d been overcharged compared to their own rate, but across two nights and five requests, no one could provide anything in writing, nor did anyone offer to involve a supervisor despite seeing me visibly stressed with my young son. When I followed up with management afterward, I received a written response denying what their own staff had verbally confirmed multiple times — and one that didn’t match their own publicly listed rates. Subsequent emails asking for clarification went unanswered.

Not the best.
Pros:

No electricity for several hours! We checked in with Nicholas, paid, were given all the hotel information and AFTER all that, he casually mentions there would be no power beginning at 6am-10am the following morning. I asked how long they had known about it, and he said 2 weeks! We should have been told prior to checking, not after, so we could have made alternate arrangements. Grounds were overgrown and not well kept and the pool/pool deck needs repairs.

A Great place to end your Holiday in Costa Rica
Pros:

We stayed at this Hotel for our last 3 nights of our holiday to this wonderful country. There is a free shuttle to Carrillo Beach. The public bus picks up right outside the hotel takes you into Samara Town for 500 colones each, with it's many restaurants and bars and a fantastic bakery near the bus stop.
Douglas on reception was very informative and helpful and the service in the restaurant from Eddy and Henry was first class. The food in the restaurant is very, very good and the portions are very large too.
Rooms we had were excellent and very clean. The pool is great as is the pool bar.

Overall, a great place to stay to wind down at the end of your Holiday.
