Staff was great and early check in was amazing
Clean room, tv didn’t work.
Not too scenic but the ambience of Catalina and her hospitality were impeccable.
Yea I did shops walkable ocean view.
Close to the harbor. Within walking distance of most everything to see. Good value/
The beds are ridiculously comfortable
The ocean view was lovely. Short walk into town. Quiet and slept very well. We did not need the AC, the weather was perfect. The hotel is over 100 years old hotel and decorated old Victorian. The service was excellent and the rooms were very clean.
Great
We enjoyed staying here! The hotel is quite old, with a lot of character. The room was very, very small, so be prepared for that. Everything was clean and had a nice, clean smell.
Sadly, there was no coffee in the room or even in the hotel! That's almost a deal breaker. Also, no fan in the bathroom which sucks but is kind of common in hotels.
The staff were all very good. The view was excellent - right out to the harbor! It's also only a half block from the main strip/beach so you can't get any more convenient!
The value was really good so if you are trying to stay on a budget, this is a fantastic option.
Room - No room service, no air conditioning, ceiling fan did not work, WIFI connection was slow and dropped out often, the TV remote did not work, the key card did not work half of the time, there were no amenities (no coffee or tea service in the room and no microwave to heat water or food), No coffee or water in the lobby, there is a low-income apartment building next to the hotel so any sea breeze you get smells like marijuana, the toilet did not flush properly. Their is a security door on the ground floor to keep non-guests from accessing the hotel rooms and patio area, but the staff props it open during the day for their convenience and does not shut it at night so anyone can access the hotel (a drunk bum came into the patio area making a bunch of noise on my first night at 1:00 am). I had to shut the gate myself every night after that.
Service - What service? Like I said, there is no room service so if you stay more than two days you will have to hunt down a maid for clean towels. Maids only work between 9:30 am to 12:00 pm. This is important because the hotel does not staff the front desk. The hotel advertises the front desk is staffed from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm, but this is not true. Every time I went to the front desk, there was a sign that said "On Break...call (xxx) xxx-xxxx if it is an emergency". A number of the other guests complained about it as well.
Location - No real view of the ocean, but the hotel is fairly close to the beach and shopping.
Everything was great! Super responsive, friendly, helpful staff!
Only issue was the shower water pressure! I felt like Will Ferrel in the movie Elf taking a shower!😂
The room was cute. The staff was amazing. It's a very, very old hotel, so it's got all kinds of really cool charm.I enjoyed my stay there immensely.I'll definitely stay there again
Clean room and building
Let’s face it…the property is in serious need of updating, but the charm and people that work there makes it more than enjoyable!
Rooms need updated but they were clean. The staff was friendly.
These are quaint older SMALL rooms, but the location is hard to beat. It would be challenging for larger people in some rooms, but for one petite me it was great. The staff was extra kind and helpful. It's no bells and whistles, I don't think the TV even worked, and the water takes a while to heat up, no coffee or water or breakfast offered, but really for the cost it was great.
Good Value for Catalina Island. Rooms and hotel were clean. Location was only 5 min walk from the dock. No A/C in the rooms but that wasn't an issue during our stay.
Close to everything and the receptionist was amazing!
There is absolutely a dated charm to this spot - while aged, the entire property is clean, well cared for, and for the price, it's unbeatable in its location to downtown Avalon. Room was clean, there was hot water, and the bed was one of the most comfortable I've slept in. Absolutely recommend for a few nights on the island.
Old hotel but sufficient for a night in Avalon. They really need to add a coffee service at minimum.
