Road Lodge Richards Bay

The room was great and the hotel itself was fine. The only issue was the service in the restaurant for our evening meal. It would have been better not to have to wait for so long for food to arrive and it would have been nice if we could all eat together, rather than some finishing before the other meals arrived.

The overall experience was amazing, the place is gorgeous, the staff was great especially Boitumelo and the cleaners. The only issue is the place not having allevators, we had to carry heavy luggage up and down

At first me and my partner were skeptical about spending the whole weekend at Road Lodge but all those doubts were erased as soon as we checked in. The service was awesome and the peace that came with it was proper, the only disadvantage was that the rooms don't come with a fridge which proved to be a problem.

The room is what was excepted from a road lodge. I stayed in another road lodge on this same trip and they were identical.

It was clean and tidy with minimal noise.

This hotel is ok for the price. No frills. Location is perfect for exploring Richards Bay. It’s just next to the mall and minutes’ drive to the beach.

Bathroom cleanliness could be improved. Reception staff were friendly and helpful.

Breakfast is poor and could do with lots of improvement. We stayed here on 2 occasions one night each time. We didn’t bother with breakfast on the second occasion as there are plenty of options at the mall. Breakfast consisted of pale looking sausages, lukewarm scrambled eggs, overly processed cheese (those individually wrapped cheese slices), toast, some muffins. We arrived 40 min before end of breakfast but most food had already run out. Had to request coffee mugs, cutlery and glasses. There seemed to be one person cooking and looking after guests. The lady was polite but she seemed overwhelmed, which was not obviously her fault.

Overall, you get what you pay for. Basic hotel at reasonable price. It met our needs as a base. Another plus is the free WiFi.

Perfect place for a quick stay. Fabulous breakfast area and breakfast. Parking galore.

The reception staff was friendly and helpfull. There was just nothing that we could complain about. My husband has health problems, and without knowing that, we got a room on the ground floor.

Good enough for a 1 night stay. Clean, functional, small but with a comfortable bed. The shower cubicle is for tiny people (only negative). A plus is that check in is at anytime. Conveniently situated.
