I enjoyed the location and how everything was within walking distance. The staff was amazing, and the bartender made the best drinks I had that day. The room was perfect and the type of room i look for when i am looking to book a room. Best part was check out being at noon.

I've been meaning to write a positive review for this location since we stayed there in early July 2025. The front staff was great and engaged, the location was incredibly well located if you want to mostly walk around downtown during your trip, and while the rooms are small, everything is well designed - plus there's a pool! Additionally, we had a minor sound issue and the staff went above and beyond to address the issue. I was really pleased with our stay and would definitely return.
Staff was more than accommodating, Room was clean and comfortable, spent time in the eclectic lobby playing games with other quests.
For us this hotel was all about the location, perfect for spending time in the Funk Zone. We enjoyed the heated pool, and our (albeit small) patio for a glass of wine at sunset. The rooms are small but decorated cute, the staff is friendly and attentive.
Awesome boutique style hotel in a prime location. Easy walk to train station and the wharf. My go to spot in Santa Barbara!
Great property, rooms are a little quirky but facility is great overall and the location is perfect.
Life provided a stretch of time in Santa Barbara, and this trip we booked the Moxy due to proximity to the funk zone and all it has to offer. Flight delay got us in a little later than expected, and the check in was smooth and easy with some light hearted poking fun between Dodgers and Padres fans (couple checking in before us and Moxy team member Dodgers, we're Padres!!!) which was all good.
Upstairs to our room and wow, literally a shoebox with the bed against the wall on two sides and bathroom small enough a single person fits. The room was, well, surprisingly small. The pillows were flat and bed had the flex in the mattress from people always sleeping on one side and wearing a sinkhole for lack of a better term. Combined with the view of the Gentlemen's Club across the street the vibe was just... off.
Next morning really enjoyed the coffee bar downstairs. Had to take a couple work calls and in general, though it was a Friday the morning was relatively quiet and coffee good! Moxy has a hostel type feel and could really work for some people, it just did not for us. We checked out after one night as we explored the Santa Barbara lodging options.
Pro's are close proximity to everything funk zone, and a REALLY GREAT team! Check in, check out, young lady in AM handling the front and latte machine - all good!!!
Cons are room size, and the view of the Spearmint Rhino adult entertainment across the street provided a little sketch feel to the neighborhood, like, make sure nothing is in your car kinda vibe!!!
I stayed here for a wedding and couldn’t have been happier. The location is perfect. It is walking distance to downtown, great restaurants and the beach. The staff was incredibly accommodating and friendly throughout the stay. The pool area was a great spot to relax and unwind. The vibe is fun, the rooms are clean and the overall experience was exactly what we hoped for. Highly recommend.
My favorite Moxy hotel by far. The location was close to everything we needed; beach, pier, restaurants. The poolside room was a two second walk to the pool and a minute walk to state street. This will definitely be my go to property in Santa Barbara.
I stayed at the Moxy Santa Barbara for the first time and absolutely loved it! You can't beat the Moxy's location. It's close to endless shops, restaurants, and the beach. The staff is incredibly friendly and the hotel is clean and decorated really well. This is my new go-to hotel for all my Santa Barbara trips!
Thedesk staff was incredibly rude. My colleagues and I were sitting for a chat in the lobby and the front desk person literally kicked us out and said that the public spaces closed at 11pm. I've never hear dof such a thing.
Great cool boutique hotel. Very clean. It is next to the freeway but I found the cars passing soothing.
I had a great stay at Moxy in Santa Barbara! The room was spacious, clean, modern and a great value for the price. The location is perfect, ideal for exploring local breweries and wine tasting rooms.
The staff was incredibly friendly and professional, making check-in a breeze. I loved the unique vibe of the hotel. The check-in area is a bar and the lobby doubles as a game room. There’s also a commercial fridge, microwave, and complimentary coffee, tea, and even dog treats for all guests, which I thought was a nice touch.
Overall, Moxy was a great choice for my stay and if I ever visit Santa Barbara again, I'm definitely staying here.
Nice staff very good location clean rooms
This is a cute spot in a great location, but it is, in my opinion, very over priced for the value. Service was excellent, staff was great. They tell you on check in that the rooms are "European style" & "Cozy" and I'm sure they do this because people have complained. They are small room, not bad but small and boutique feeling. The bathrooms are crazy small, the shower and toilet share space and you flip a little glass door open to cover the toilet when showering. I could not turn around in the shower without the shower curtain catching me and then clinging to me... not my favorite. Very much like an RV shower in terms of space. Don't even dream of reaching all the way down to wash your feet. Additionally our room was on the freeway side and was INCREDIBLY loud with freeway directly outside of our window, all night noise. Bathroom door is glass and when my wife got up earlier than me to shower I was up too because the light from that door shines right at you in bed.
Great walking area close by. The price is why I would not stay again. I might for around half the price per night if I wanted to stay on more of a budget night with less of a room, but it was WAY overpriced for what I felt we got. I found myself wishing we had chosen a different hotel.
Dorm room style room, no amenities to speak of. An awkward bathroom situation. Right next to freeway. No dining, proper breakfast etc. Didn’t fully understand from pics what was what. Not fully grasping the price/value. Other than that, nice and friendly staff, convenient to State Street, Funk Town, wharf, etc.
We initially booked this hotel for its central location, walkable to the beach and State street. The room we got was very small, but it had a bunk bed, and my daughter absolutely loved it. It was a whole new adventure for her sleeping on a bunk bed. Mattresses are super comfy actually. The pool area is very pleasant with various games for entertainment . The front desk personal is so nice and friendly. It’s one of the places you start liking as you go.
Check-in was disastrous, but the rest of the stay was fine. Carlos was exceptional!!!
Tiny rooms and nowhere to really hang clothes up or put a suitcase
