Friendly staff, clean bathroom, good location.
We stayed here for a day. So the location is good. All major attractions are at just walking distance from here.
We booked and checked in the same day, so we did not have much options. The rooms we got was on 5th floor (the lift only went to 4th). The room was huge , clean , got basic of everything you need, also had a window(its a luxury when you are in Hanoi ). They have lockers. The washrooms are clean and spacious.
But..but the rooms was very cold, it did have AC, it did nothing.
The breakfast is very simple, very limited options, and could be improved a lot.
The people at reception are very confused people. Lots of confusion and we had to explain a lot while checking in. They need to have someone experienced to handle the reception.
Giving 4 stars only because it was better than our hotels in same area.
Stayed here on 14th Dec 2024
We've stayed here a couple of times on trips up to Hà Nội and we love it! The rooms are clean, the staff is very friendly, and the breakfast in the morning is simple but delicious. It's located in a great spot in the old quarter where you are about a 10 minute walk from some of the most prominent sites. Grab cars or bikes can drop you off right in front of the hotel. The rooms are always clean, spacious, and perfect for long or short trips to the old quarter
Not much to be honest. Not horrible, just not good.
Money was taken out of my credit card although it clearly stated that I can pay upon arrival in cash. Staff was generally nice but not very focused on solving our issues or going out of its way when we asked for local attractions, had to figure out things ourselves. Breakfast was mediocre at best. Rooms are dated. No hot water in the morning. Too expensive for what it offers.
Spacious and pleasant room with a lovely big window for lots of natural light and a bit of a view of the street. Bathroom was nice. Good location in Old Quarter, only about 5 mins walk to lake. Breakfast was reasonable for the star level of the hotel - small selection but okay.
The location was very central but the staff were average and we went early in the morning hence it was not very welcoming at that time
The general upkeep of the hotel and lobby
The photo shown online must have been taken years ago; it needs to be updated to reflect the current state of the hotel rooms. The curtain is stained, the bathtub is dirty, and there is dust on the walls. Worst of all, I got bitten after staying just one night. We arrived in Hanoi very early in the morning at 6 am, so we asked the night shift staff to store our luggage. Unfortunately, the staff member on duty had a very poor attitude and was unwilling to assist us. Overall, the structure and cleanliness of the hotel are BAD. We got a corner room with a small window facing a back alley with no sunlight, and the corridors are dimly lit. The room was totally different from the pictures and felt like a haunted hotel room. I would not recommend staying here.
The worse customer service and the two rooms that we saw were dirty. They simply put lipstick on a pig. We actually had to leave to find a different hotel even late at night. We needed a clean and a good night’s rest. That wasn’t going to happen for us there. Stay away from this hotel.
A very nice hotel very nice room very comfortable bed. The room is big it’s in the middle of the centre everything around You very good price stuff very friendly
I stay here whenever I'm in Hanoi . . . can walk to restaurants I like. Place is clean and quiet.
The staff are so friendly, helpful and go above and beyond. Good location.
Location in the Old Quarter is quite convenient.
Breakfast is quite good and has variety.
There is a lift to the rooms
The place is a bit tired.
Towels are tired, corridor carpet is tired.
I stayed at La Palm for 3 nights with a break in the middle, so 2 stays, so to say.
No hesitation in recommending with the little “caveats” below. So, don’t have expectations. It works perfectly for R&R after day’s travels.
It is clean, staff are very friendly & helpful. The hotel is 1-5 minutes walk from all the restaurants and happening areas.
In my 2 separate stays of 3 nights, this is my review. Here’s the breakdown,
The GOOD
• Room & Toilet are clean.
• Linen etc are spotless
• Staff & Reception are friendly and helpful.
• The property is in the Old Quarter as in the middle of everything. 1-5 mins walk to all the action.
• The breakfast is good.
• A bank and an ATM are next door.
The NOT SO GOOD
• Some areas in the rooms and passages are/is aged. So, it can look not so spritely. The public areas are very nice.
• The toilet has stains. Feels iffy, but that is aged silicon sealant. It IS clean.
• I had paid for a “Room with a window”. On my 1st day, I was given room (201) which had a “window” to the passage/hallway & not to the outside. On the next stay, I was given room (208) with window to a very small courtyard, about 60cm * 150cm in size, and the courtyard floor had ample cigarettes ends etc. There’s no proper daylight as such, and can feel like a box. The room/s to the street and rear might be different, and I did not see them. So, don’t have expectations. It works perfectly for R&R after day’s travels.
Having experienced 4 properties in this budget range in Vietnam, this hotel is not "Luxury" as claimed but more a 2-3 star city hotel. Again, just a comment so that you don't have expectations.
Breakfast was basic. But this was not a big concern for me as I'm not a big breakfast person
My room didn't have a window. Again this did not bother me much as I just needed a comfortable room to sleep in.
The guy at the front desk was not friendly which was extremely surprising considering all the service we received thus far from other hotel stays and experiences in Hanoi. He even gave her a room that was still occupied! Yes, you read that right. I opened the door and there was a luggage open on the floor with some clothes scattered around the room. I closed the door immediately and told the bell boy that the room was still occupied. My husband couldn’t believe it so he knocked on the door and a man opened the door! The bell boy ran back downstairs and came back up with a key to another room. That same unfriendly front desk guy didn’t even apologize. He said we could stay in that room for the night but tomorrow he would move us to a smaller room. This “bigger” room was already tiny. The restroom was not clean. The bathtub was perched an unfinished bottom. Most importantly, we were horrified and worried for our safety. What if he did the same thing to us and some other people came to our room and was able to open the door in the middle of the night?! We had to scramble like mad since it was around 11:00 PM at night to find another room for the night. That was our worse hotel experience in Hanoi. Never would I recommend this hotel. Stay far far away. There are too many other great options on Hanoi old quarter for you to even worry yourself with this one.
