Parking fee a bit high
The Connaught Hotel is very nice with spa facilities, the brasserie looks very nice and the food was great.
We stayed in the Connaught Lodge attached to the Connaught Hotel, which is a run-down hotel in needs of refurbishment. The bathroom was very old with a cheap curtain, old carpet and furniture and the door barely closed. Breakfast was very cheap compared to what you could expect from the Connaught Hotel. Disappointing.
If covered my needs for a one night stay as I was fishing in Poole
Paying for parking, telling me it’s a non cash hotel then expecting me to conjure out of thin air a £1 coin for the swimming pool lockers !!!
Nothing at all, the hotel wasn’t even what we picked or expected
First of all, booking said it was sea and then when we arrived the hotel said they don’t do sea view, second we stayed in another building from the main hotel which was really stressful as that’s not what we paid for and felt so disappointed with this, was told to check out if we didn’t like what we booked but I’m from London, I can’t just book another place on the day, every was mainly booked and if I did try it was double the price of what we already had paid
The location of the hotel is fantastic, less than 5 minutes from the beach.
The hotel is very dated, the shower is merely a trickle and really needs replacing. Travelling with children and they advertise a hotel swimming pool but only after booking were we told children can’t use the pool between 9am-6pm.
Good location
The rooms were very old fashioned and need renovating. I hadn’t realised at the time the the lodge was next to the Commaught Hotel which was a renovated and more modern property.
It was clean and tidy , lovely facilities All the staff members were friendly and courteous and made the stay really pleasurable

Honestly, from the start we had a bad experience. When we first arrived, we went to the main desk to check in and the guy at the reception was very rude to myself and my partner. (we are unsure whether this is due to the fact that we are a lesbian couple but we came to this conclusion due to the fact that he wasn’t treating anybody else at the desk like this ) He gave us no information about where to go or what direction to get to our room or whether there was lift access (which is needed due to my disability)
Once we arrived at our room, we found that it was dirty, the carpet had not been hoovered and the bedside tables had crumbs on it. ( this didn’t bother us that much as the bedding was clean and so was the bathroom).
We then decided to go for a dip in the pool before we ate some dinner, again the guy at reception was rude when we asked for towels and directions to the pool. We had a lovely time in the pool and then once we left the pool, we went back to reception as we remembered that we forgot to ask about dinner reservations. We were told that there was no food / room service again me and my partner felt like this was articulated in a particularly rude way.
I do you want to add that the lady at reception the next day was delightful and extremely helpful however due to the experience the previous day we will not be coming back and not recommending to any of our friends.
We had a large room and comfortable large bed. Close to restaurants and the beach.

Lodge bedrooms a bit tired/dated
Proximity to the beach. Close to restaurants. coffee and water in the room
aging facility. Aircon did not work despite reporting it. Weekend wedding means loud music till 12am. Children cannot use the indoor pool between 12 pm and 6pm which is a major problem if one has a child and not able to use the facilities. Would have been better to have this information before booking to make an informed decision.
